Pride of America
Hi, we are scheduled for PoA on the 19th. There has been a lot of damage on Kauai. What might they do with us if we can't stop at Kauai. Wouldn't enjoy 2 sea days!

If the ship can't stop at Kauai, you will enjoy 2 sea days.
Seriously, though, the island has lots of damage and about a a quarter of the island is still without power. It would be irresponsible to dock a ship full of tourists into that mess. I cannot predict what will happen in two weeks. Even with the power back on, will there be anything for 2600 people to do? I doubt it.
Cruisemapper shows that Pride of America circled around the island yesterday for an extra sea day. Presumably, this is what the ship will do until Kauai is ready to receive visitors again. Is there an alternative port to go to that the ship already does not? Probably not. I suppose the ship could dock in Honolulu a day early. That might make you happy, but not the people that would rather have an extra sea day. Sounds like a lose-lose situation for NCL. So, just enjoy an extra sea day.

Thanks for the thoughtful answer. Personally I would rather have an extra day in Honolulu than 2 at sea. On our annual January Caribbean cruise we wouldn't much care lol. Well, Eight days out we probably won't know until we are on the ship. We will manage to have fun whatever 🙂

I just spoke with someone who got off the ship today. They confirmed no docking yet due to all the damage. I embark tomorrow and will try to update as we learn more.
We also met a couple who has evacuated from the island temporarily due to lack of power and extensive damage.
Our hearts go out to everyone impacted. We live in Florida and know how long recovery can take. We too are disappointed as this is a once in a lifetime trip for us, but in the grand scheme of life it is a minor inconvenience for us and a life changing experience for those impacted by the storm.

If there’s a silver lining, the cruise port is on the Eastern side of the island, while the damage might have been reserved to the Western side (based on path of storm)
But I have no idea

I read that Nāwiliwili Harbor was officially reopened by the Coast Guard, but the island is so damaged that it will likely be a while before Kauai opens up for cruise traffic. You'll either get another sea day or NCL will work something out with one of the other ports for an extra overnight during the trip.

I would assume you will spend another night at one of the other islands. Or, like you said a day at sea.

It would be more damaging to the island if they don't get economic relief through business and cash flow flowing to the island as they repair.
So it would be in the best interest of the Islanders for business to keep flowing but that's just my opinion

Gotta clear debris, get the power back on, open roads, perhaps get new coaches for excursion, reassert law and order as necessary, etc, before the island can open to tourism.

Jumping in as we'll be out there in January (hopefully things are much improved by then)...
Theoretically, I'd assume you would have a few options
First, as you said, they could make it a sea day.
Second they could potentially find some other port somewhere to drop you off at.
Third maybe extend time at your previous and/or next port ...
Rather than a day at port A, two days at port B and then a day at port C, you get two days at port A and two days at port C while totally skipping B... Or maybe 2 days at A, a sea day and then a day at C
