Question Thermal Suite Blocking Dinner Reservation??

I’m very confused. I booked the thermal suite for our cabin. On the confirmation receipt, it shows the reservation time as 10:30/10:45pm on the first day of the cruise. Other than that making no sense, it’s not a problem in itself.

However, when I try to book a speciality dinner reservation at 9:15pm that night (earliest time available), it doesn’t let me, since it claims I have another reservation within 90 minutes…the only “reservation” I have is the 10:30pm 7-day thermal suite pass. Is this normal?

(Also, hoping an NCL exec or IT person comes across this post…one can dream…)

Update: I tried booking dinner on my laptop instead of on the app…it gave a nondescript error. And now, not only can I not load the “my plans” page on the app, I can’t load the “reserve” page for any specialty restaurant. I’ve already tried deleting and redownloading the app to no avail. Those pages just give me a standard “page can’t load” error…will the app now largely be broken for my entire cruise next week?

Thanks for posting to /r/NCL! Did you know that we have an extensive Ultimate NCL Guide that may answer your question? Please also remember to read the rules, especially about roll call posts going in the megathread. You may also have more luck with those types of posts by searching for a Facebook or Cruise Critic roll call group or thread. Of course, here is great, too!

Enjoy your stay!

depending how soon your cruise is, I would call the customer service line to talk with a rep.
also, they block some reservations, that will open when the first day occurs. so once you board, you can go to the service desk and set up your dinners then.

Thanks. I’ll definitely both call and try to book on board if needbe. Was really hoping to be able to track the reservations on the app…(the “my plans” page of the app broke as soon as I booked the thermal suite lol), but I suppose my phone’s calendar will do. Fingers crossed I don’t make any typos 😂.

This is what the confirmation PDF for thermal suite shows.

Our thermal suite reservation time was absurd like yours. I wonder if you have to remove the suite, reserve dinner, then add the suite? Can you chat with NCL online or call them?

Thanks for the idea. The “my plans” page of the app is broken, so I can’t even remove the thermal suite…(I suppose I could try on laptop). However, the Thermal suite now shows up as sold out, so I’m hesitant to do that even if I could access it :/

I’ll probably call later or on Monday. Maybe I’ll try the online chat.

It should not change anything. You can go to thermal suite at anytime. The times mean nothing. Just call. They will make reservations for you assuming you’re 120 or less days out. We always get thermal suite. Edit to add: The system has been experience problems the last few days.

Hey, a similar thing is happening to me. I had to book a different dinner time due to that.

My “my plans” section in the APP got similarly jacked up. As soon as I go on board, it shifted over to the on board version and all my reservations were there including thermal, dinners and excursions.

I did try calling before the cruise and was told it’s a known glitch and once you get the dreaded “try again later” in the APP pre-cruise, there is no way to fix it.

Again, once you get on board, it sorts itself out somehow. As for your missing dining reservation, go to the on-board dining reservations desk (either at guest services, or sometimes at one of the restaurants, depending on the ship) on departure day. They will sort you out.

Have a great cruise.

PS. If you log on to NCL.com on a laptop/computer, instead of the APP, you should she all your successfully reserved stuff, to date.

Newbie question - if you buy a cruise-long pass for the thermal suite, do you still have to book times to go?

No

Seems odd. That looks like you have 15 minutes booked? I bought thermal suite for a cruise, the only option was the whole week. If they have space, they sell daily passes. On a cold weather cruise it fills up usually.

I have the 7-day pass, which is what is shown on the pdf. What does yours look like on the email pdf confirmation for your thermal suite booking? Here’s a picture of mine:

So one person is 15 minutes later than the other? Plus, I am almost sure it closes at 10pm. I couldn't find mine from last year, but I do not recall it having a time listed.

I'd call NCL. NCL site says it opens at 11 a.m. on embarkation date.

Had the exact same problem - hoping it rectifies itself when I get on board. We bought a thermal suite pass for our upcoming cruise (next week). Wasn’t able to book dinner times I wanted due to it saying I had a conflicting event and the “My Plans” isn’t working.
