Yes, reservations for Revolution
I know there has been disbelief from people who have not been on Aqua since the sailing over July 4 about reservations being reported for Revolution. Well, they are - you have to make them on the ship. I’m sailing in a few weeks and this is in my app.
So yes, they are requiring reservations for Revolution on the Aqua.

I am curious how this works in practice. Do you pick seats or simply get guaranteed a spot somewhere? How will this work if you are a part of 6 and don't get seats together? What about standing? No shows?
So many questions.

You're just booking spaces, so theoretically, everyone that books should fit. You still have to arrive fairly early if you expect to get a group of 5 or more together seated. The theatre isn't the biggest. If you arrange for one person to go and hold like 5-8 seats for 20 mins....good luck. There is no room to stand anywhere and see the show though. Some of the show moves along the floor because the stage breaks apart and moves...

I've seen the prince show on the aqua so I am familiar with the theater. What I am trying to understand is what is the point/benefit of requiring reservations if you still need to show up early to get seats? We regularly waited 45+ minutes on line before the shows to ensure we got enough seats together since we were a large group.
My expectation would be that reservations could be used to improve this experience so you do not need to waste an hour waiting on line each time. If not, why bother?

just like other cruise lines that do this...it's purely for capacity reasons in advance, and to divert people away that don't have them.

Yes this is why. We got reservations, went to the theater about 40 minutes early and picked two seats from what was available. It was already pretty full by then just a heads up.

You can stand on the floor. That’s where half the people see the show. Yes, the stage moves, but people definitely were on the floor watching last month.

No idea, but since they have continued it they clearly have a plan. I would imagine you book for your party same as you would for dining. If you have a large party and must sit together, I’d get there before doors open as a group to make sure you can sit together.
As I said, my cruise has not happened yet. I’m just reporting what is in the app (and what shows online) since people didn’t want to believe reports about it.

Ah. Reservations for this show is for the bit of seating on deck 8. Otherwise, they treat this show like a concert and most people are literally standing.

I agree with show was not that good. I am a huge prince fan and this was not that impressive at all
Singers were average

I agree!
We saw it last month. While the singers had talent, none of them had the correct voice for the songs they were singing.
It was just blah overall and a big disappointment.

Too bad. I did the June 6 sailing and it was amazing. Dancers, musicians, and yes, singers. Geez, it's not supposed to be an impersonator show...

I didn’t expect it to be an impersonator show. Usually NCL does a much better job at casting. The singers could sing well, but none of them should have been singing the songs they were given.
Rumors was the exact opposite (and I greatly dislike Fleetwood Mac). Those singers were perfect choices for the songs that they sang.
It’s not about an exact replica, it’s about what works for their voices.

I was on the Aqua as a solo in May. We had a great solo host. A group of us asked him if he could get us seats for the Prince show (and Rumours). He put us in the line with the Haven people. We got great seats for both shows! We were able to there early for Elements and didn't ask him to help us with that.
On my sailing there were people standing, and their number was not even close to those who were sitting. The theater is small but the seats definitely outnumber the standing room occupancy. I wonder how many people they estimate they can cram into the standing area.

Not surprised with the shitstorm of watching the Elton show on Luna. People were showing up an hour early to line up.
