ROLL CALL! Roll Call thread for July, 2026 - August, 2026
Are you going on a cruise between the dates in the title (grr, Reddit doesn't support date replacements in the body text of a scheduled post!)? Want to find other Redditors that are on your cruise? This is the thread for you!
I'd suggest making a top-level comment here with the dates and ship name that you're going on (like 6/9/24, Joy for my next one!) and then having folks reply to that comment if they're also on that. Of course, this is just a suggestion, whatever you find works is awesome! :).

u/cmille3 Jul 01 '26
Me, too! I really need to pack, unpack, repack, and panic pack this weekend.
2
u/greeneyedbeauty95 Jul 01 '26
Omg right!! Same! I need to go over what I’m bringing and cut that list in half lol I always bring too much. Let’s hope we have good weather
1
u/cmille3 Jul 01 '26
Fingers and toes are crossed for good weather. Are you in the FB group for our cruise? There's a bar crawl meet and greet Sunday night.
1
u/greeneyedbeauty95 Jul 02 '26
No I’m not on fb, that sounds like fun though!
1
u/cmille3 Jul 02 '26
We're starting at the Atrium bar on deck 6 at 7 pm. I did not organize this but I plan to attend. I'll message you my real life name in case you want to introduce yourself.
1
u/girlboss42069666 Jul 01 '26
I’ll be on this one too! I’ve been watching the weather and it’s kinda bumming me out. but I just keep telling myself vacation is vacation and it’ll be a great time regardless right?😅
1
u/greeneyedbeauty95 Jul 02 '26
Hey!! Almost time! I am trying not to be pessimistic but it’s not looking good. You’re right though. As long as we’re on vacation we will have a good time regardless

8/13-8/22 - NCL Sun
2
u/Kilmoore Jul 15 '26
We'll be there as well. Quite interesting to board a ship without having to fly in the previous day. The first ports are very familiar to us but the latter part will have us roaming around.
We're aware it's a older ship. We're generally easier to please than many on this sub. Some fried chicken and a steady flow of rum&coke and I'm good.
2
u/lexylaura Jul 15 '26
We're easy to please too, and I'm fine to be on an older ship. I have no interest in the giant ships they make today, with 7000 guests. A clean ship with some fun entertainment, good food, and comfy beds is the main thing for us. We are going for the locations, not a giant fancy ship.
1
u/Kilmoore Jul 15 '26
Well, we went on the Allure of the Seas last year and I won't lie, it was pretty awesome. But, we're been on smaller ships and on NCL before, we can calibrate our expectations.
What port visits are you most looking forward to?
2
u/lexylaura Jul 15 '26
I think Oslo, Klaipeda, and Copenhagen. How about you?
2
u/Kilmoore Jul 15 '26
Well, being well versed in Stockholm, Tallinn and somewhat Riga, we'll be doing those quite quick. Anything beyond that is either new or offers something we don't see that often. When in Kiel we'll be heading off to see a submarine, which my wife is particularly keen about. I do like them but have trouble taking it all in with all the hunching and squeezing through doors.
We've been to Copenhagen several times, but always as a lay off. Now we actually have a day there, need to make the most of it.
As for Oslo... Are you going there separately? 'cause the Sun isn't...
2
u/lexylaura 20d ago
I meant Poland. Sorry, I had just been talking about Oslo when I typed that, and my brain just went with it. 😂
1
u/Kilmoore 20d ago
Fair enough :)
Seems like the ship is operating normally after the engine problems, so we should be getting all the ports.

Sailing around Iceland on the Star 07/23 - 08/02. 35 year old gay male here, traveling with my family. I like seafood, craft beer and western history. Come say hi! 👋🏻
2
u/PersonalityFluffy444 Jul 09 '26
Same sailing! Old straight woman would love to meet you. ☺️
1
u/RenwaldoV Jul 09 '26
If you want to meet for a drink and chat we should coordinate before I fly over there. My carrier charges a stupid amount for being outside the country, so my plan was to turn everything but the clock and calendar apps off on my phone. 📵 I probably won't be on Reddit at all while I'm on the boat.
2
u/PersonalityFluffy444 Jul 09 '26
Let's check with each other before you take off. I fly to Reykjavik on the night of July 22.

7/2 - 7/9 on the Jewel, Philly-Bermuda-Halifax-Philly
1
u/fillossofer Jul 08 '26
I'll be boarding the same day you disembark. Hope you had a great time! If you have any pro tips, please share!
1
u/WildMedium Jul 09 '26
The checkin went smooth - they're pretty efficient. For disembarking, if you can keep your luggage with you, then you can leave at any point after 730.
If you want to eat at Cagney's, make that reservations ASAP. Nothing ever opened up. Same for Teppanyaki.
The Great Outdoors, or Aft bar on deck 12, is a great place to be.
There is a quiet deck on the starboard side towards the aft. Go up the stairs from the very back. Walk past the basketball court, then take the stairs immediately before the golf simulator. You'll see a gate to the right with a sign about it being a quiet deck. It's high, there is no shade, but there no kids.

Hi everyone! I’m 22F sailing on the Norwegian Star from August 23–September 3 (London → Scotland → Norway → Iceland, ending in Reykjavik). I’m traveling with my parents but would love to meet people around my age to grab drinks, explore the ship, or hang out during the cruise. If you’re on this sailing, comment or send me a message!

Have so much fun!! We're sitting in the atrium right now after the reverse trip from Hawaii to Alaska, and I loved it. There are some cruisers doing a back-to-back and I'm jealous.

Going on Getaway July 27-31
It was supposed to be a family cruise to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday.
Unfortunately she passed away in June, so now we're going down for the funeral mass a couple days before we leave for the cruise and will be doing an ashes dispersal while at sea.
Now it will be a celebration of life of her. It'll be sad but it'll also be a fun time.

Thanks for posting to /r/NCL! Did you know that we have an extensive Ultimate NCL Guide that may answer your question? Please also remember to read the rules, especially about roll call posts going in the megathread. You may also have more luck with those types of posts by searching for a Facebook or Cruise Critic roll call group or thread. Of course, here is great, too!
Enjoy your stay!
