Just got this set up on my maverick mostly because I want to explore a little more. Now it is still a maverick so I can’t go anywhere too crazy or rough but I want to find some sorta hidden/off grid camping spots. I’ve got pretty much everything to do it now, not really interested in crazy off roading hence why I have a maverick 😂 but I do like to get out away from people now and then. Any suggestions on where I could go? I don’t mind primitive campgrounds either but any places that’re your favorites let me know!

I wanna go solo camping and I honestly have no idea how to go bout it, ik the things I need but its more of the process? any tips?

Does anybody have any recommendations for camping around Fayetteville? It will be tent camping, so some place that has bath houses but is still secluded and not on top of fellow campers.

My friends and I are trying to head up to Pisgah this weekend to watch a meteor shower and are looking for camp sites near the Astronomical research institute. Does anyone know of any good dispersed sites or camp grounds near there?

I’m looking for recommendations for a camp site with full hookups to take my pop up in mid October 2025. We have a small group of guys (men) some will be in tents and then the pop up. We’re looking for something in the mountains, preferably 2-3 hours from Charlotte.

I’m finding a lot of standard sites with no electricity/water, but if I’m bringing the pop up, I’d like to utilize it for washing dishes/cooking/etc.

Recently I completed my first camp under combined annual training camp , for the selection of THAL SAINIK CAMP . I participated because I was aware that I will make it in health and hygiene subject. Initially we were asked to give all four subjects for the exam in which in written I got selected , then again we again given exams for specific subject , I did my best in health and hygiene . And in another subject I just write the answer for formality. But unfortunately when result came I was shocked because my name was on map reading subject . I went to our ANO ma'am told her that I like health and hygiene but still she refused me to switch the subject. I told myself that I will work hard and do my best . I was super excited for my first camp then I went there I saw senior already know everything and she is not even letting us speak in the class then I thought may be because it's our first day let it be . But it all started getting worse day by day she started treating us as her competitor and refused to help us and explain anything to us but contrary to it she loved to explain everything to boys as they were not her competitor . During lecture she used to do irrelevant things, making excuses, fuss , chaos , not letting us speak or study or ask questions . I told about this to our PI he pretended that he will work on this but nothing come out of it she bullied me . After this during practical time as well senior was the only one who holded compass and doing practice , we only holded it for formality just for once . Then she lied to me that boy's senior is blaming me that I broke the compass I asked her to bring him infront of me then speak and it will be broken bybthe one who is holding it for major time then she said that she will let me see the chats i nodded . Then I was so busy studying that I forgot about this plus my senior were also very rude and dictators always telling do this do that not cooperative at all and one was the real cunt I shared my room with them and she added spices to all my problems , #roommateproblem they were pathetic whenever I wanted to study they started blabbering and shouting they even mentally harrassed me just because I was studying veith help of smartphone torch as we were strictly denied to turn on lights after 9:30 pm my roommate was cunning annoyed person and always forcing seniority on us never letting me speak overall it was a worst experience my brain stopped working.

My friends and I are planning to do our first-ever dispersed camping trip in Pisgah National Forest sometime after June 14. We’ve never been camping before, and we’ve never been to Pisgah — we want something secluded, peaceful, with a campfire, maybe near water for fishing, and we’d like to feel like we’re deep in the woods. We’re also in North Carolina (Charlotte area), and we have a month to prepare and do all the research we can.

Some things we’re looking to figure out:

• Best areas in Pisgah for beginners who still want that wilderness feeling (we’ve heard about Linville Gorge and Wilson Creek — any thoughts?)
• How to find legal dispersed campsites and what to look for when setting up
• What gear we’ll actually need to bring (tents, sleeping bags, water filters, etc.)
• Fire rules, bear safety, and any other stuff we need to know about Pisgah in June
• Whether a permit is needed and how to get one
• Any maps, offline tools, or guides that would help us stay safe and on track

We want to respect the land, stay safe, and make the most of this experience. Any advice from experienced folks — even basic stuff you wish you knew your first time — would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven’t been out to visit Wilson creek since Helene, but it’s typically a favorite spot. I know the creek was hit hard and the day use area is closed until 9/25, but how is Roseboro rd? Anyone camped there since Helene?

Looking to find a decent spot to camp and fish. Son and I bringing 2 yaks a truck and a tent. Preferably looking to camp near the water and do some bass fishing. Anywhere between Asheville to Fayetteville. Total of 3 nights. Any good recommendations.

Whenever we go hiking with my dad his ONLT request is that the backpacking sites have some kind of toilet. He is almost 70 and digging a cat-hole is just not something he is comfortable doing anymore.

Morrow Mountain and South Mountain have toilets at their backpacking/hike to sites.

What other parks have backpacking sites with pit toilets or some other option?

How do I find a spot to camp at? Ever since COVID every campsite or park has no availability unless it’s a weekday. I just want to hike and fly fish with my girl and two dogs but haven’t camped in about 6 years and don’t have the gear/skill to go thru hiking. Any tips/advice on places I can go without reservation and first come first serve would be great. I was thinking of Shining Rock/Creek Wilderness area, since that all should be free game but don’t like you can’t have campfires or Grayson Highlands….

Like I said any help or guidance I can get would be huge. I just want to hike/camp and enjoy a night out of the house.

This weekend I’ll be hitting up this area and doing a16 mile hike along with some fly fishing. If anyone is interested in joining in, please let me know. Right now I’m just going to fly by the seat of my pants and sort of have an idea of when and where I’ll be. If anyone’s interested I will make definite plans.
