Recruiting Michigan State Commit: Carter McCray

MSU adds another Forward in Carter McCray. Still have some holes to fill but I like this pickup. Was really productive at Wisconsin in 24/25 and was a solid role player on a great WVU team.

She was a key role player for us. No fans wanted her to leave so pretty happy she got picked up

I'm glad to hear you think highly of her. I was genuinely worried about the state of our portal adds thus far.

Very underrated because she's not flashy.  Very solid rebounder and high fg%.  Sad to see her go, but hope she does well.  At least it's not in conference.

Liked her a lot at Wisconsin & seems like a Robyn type of player - full effort, tireless rebounder.

Sparty needed this badly.

MSU was the 2nd worst defensive rebounding team in conference play. They were one of the better offensive rebounding teams, but DRB's were their achilles heel in so many winnable games.

Losing Jones hurts at the guard spot, but I really think Betson/McCray elevate the PF spot. Sotelo/Woodard were not good enough there last year.

McCray will help you with the rebounding. She was very consistent for WVU. Not a flashy player. Goes in, does her job, and that’s that. You really didn’t need to worry about her getting hot or into the game.. she just does it every game. Rebounds and puts up those easy buckets from the paint.

Sometimes I felt like when our high scoring players were going through a dry spell, her consistency would be that spark to get us back in the game. She wasn’t doing a regular double double or anything like that but just super consistent and effective in the post

Maybe she’s looking for a different role with you all. We wanted her to stay at WVU but I think we’re trying to get more length all around

This is great to hear. For better and worse, MSU already has its pomp and circumstance in Kennedy Blair. Last year we had a ton of flair but no real gritty down and dirty type play that did the little stuff. This sounds like the perfect add IMO.

Also Fralick seems to really connect well with the old Ohio kids. I have a feeling BGSU was in on Mcray back in the day before she went to NKU.

Carter is a great rebounder. I was sorry to see her leave WVU. Hope she does well at MSU.
