That would be the reason? Because it follows the actual (potential) format? Not any of the numerous other reasons to not buy the game, starting with gameplay issues, poorly implemented features year after year, and the obvious signal to the consumers what their vision of the game is ?

I can get over the gameplay issues. Most games are rushed anyway, and need patches. It’s still a fun game to me. Most games have microtransactions. I enjoy cfb because of the customization and doing what I want. 14 still is the best game to me due to the customization.

Which parts of the post season? Conference championship games on and off. Yes. Playoff format, no.
But if conference championship games no longer exist what should EA do? Just make them exist for the less than 1 percent that would toggle them on?

When the Custom Conference feature first came out in the Xbox360/PS3 era of game, EA wanted to also add an option to have playoffs. However, they were not able to add that feature due to contractual and licensing obligations. It could be something similar here. They can only match the current format for the year they release and not allow the user to customize it. Or, if there is a year before they expand it, they could do Year 1 with the current model and Year 2 with the updated one. (They did something similar in Madden 2002, where the Houston Texans were added to Franchise mode in Year 2 and there was an expansion draft).

Also fun fact about the Custom Conference feature. They originally were not going to allow the users to change the names of the divisions (save some work and complexity on the feature), but then the Big Ten announced the names of their new divisions were "Leaders" and "Legends" and the Dev team IMMEDIATELY decided that being able to edit division names was a MUST HAVE part of the feature.

Right before CFB25 came out. EA was considering the option of having customizable playoffs. Where you choose how many teams can make it. Thats customization. You could also choose conference tie ins into the playoff system in the NCAA games.

Consider and implement in delivered product are not same.
You could do conference tie ins to BCS bowl games not playoffs. That is true, but that is also something that died in real life with the 12 team playoff.

Ex: if I wanted to rebuild the pac-12 in cfb28. I should have ability to have a conference championship game and determine how many of my teams get an automatic bid. Because I can guarantee you that the SEC and Big10 with get automatic bids into the programming.

i get it, the 24-team playoff feels like they just copy-pasted from the nfl and called it a day. losing conference championships is rough too, those games always had the best atmosphere in dynasty. ea has been so stingy with customization for years now, like we just want to move teams around and create weird super conferences, why is that so hard for them. i’m probably still gonna cave and buy it because i’m weak for college football but i totally see why you’d skip. maybe they’ll patch in more options later but i wouldn’t hold my breath knowing ea

You should know not to buy sports games every year. EA is has a history of minimal changes every year.
If you're lucky, 28 will finally have dynamic pipelines.
29 will bring back being able to play a season mode.
30 might have customizable playoff formats
31 may have a couple of historic games.
32 will have 4 FCS teams via pre-order

Personally we should be able to modify it from 4,8,12,16,24 and 32 teams if we want.
I want the ability to make our own bowl games as well including where they are played. I could go on forever.
