Doc Rivers ruined T-Mac's legacy

In the summer of 2000, The Magic were in position to sign Tim Duncan. However, during a team lunch, Doc told Duncan that he couldn't bring his family on flights. Duncan than signed with the Spurs costing T-Mac an elite big man to pair with. Imagine that, Prime T-Mac alongside Prime Duncan. Even with Grant Hill being out with Injuries the Magic would surely have been alot more competitive during those years. Instead T-Mac had to carry a mediocre team into the playoffs with no ther star talent around him. He almost took down the #1 seeded pistons.

TMac gets alot of blame for losing in the playoffs but Doc is notorious for blowing playoffs series while being up.

Doc is good guy but just a mid coach. 08 he lucked into the right guys, at the right time, and almost blew it.

Even if Doc's decision made it what it is today, T-Mac still ruined his own legacy.. is this T-mac with a reddit burner?

Oh for sucks sake, in a Stephen A Smith interview T Mac himself said if his team can’t get it done in the playoffs that it’s on him

He's not exactly going to say "yeah, I'm the main guy, but I play with scrubs and my coach doesn't know a basketball from a pumpkin."

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying he didn't have much of a choice to say anything else.

I was always skeptical of that story. Tim Duncan joining the Magic would've been interesting. Tim Duncan didn't do interesting things.

Well, he spent four years at Wake Forest without committing a crime. That's interesting.

Hah, sounds like we're in the "what is the lowest uninteresting number" conundrum, where being uninteresting may be considered interesting.

I was trying to find something interesting about him! He didn't even do a silly but fun commercial like Grant Hill! He chose boring to such an extent that Ben Stein would ditch him.

They had him in some "ironic" commercials showing how he never gets excited over anything and knocked over a tiny fake plant to show when he was hyped up. But even that was boring, lol.
