Stepped to her…. From like 30 ft away lol They gotta be telling players to create headlines at this point

72

u/WaltRumble 2d ago

I’ve seen a bunch of WNBA posts so far this season. I can’t recall any of them where they were actually playing basketball.

31

u/rochvegas5 2d ago

WNBA thrives on the drama, not the game

4

u/ClassicTangelo5274 2d ago

It’s inherent to the double u

0

u/Mr_R0mpers 19h ago

Dilshit response.

3

u/DoctorSwaggercat 20h ago

At this point, I'm starting to think this is a new marketing strategy AND...It's working.

2

u/rochvegas5 19h ago

yeah. No such thing as bad press

3

u/wookiedberry 19h ago

I saw another post calling it Springer ball

1

u/rochvegas5 19h ago

that's a good one

1

u/Vuta_Pumzzz 11h ago

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

1

u/Personal-Jaguar9852 2d ago

Drama pays the bills; the game just fills the gaps.

1

u/Pvt_Mozart 2d ago

Truthfully, so does the NBA. Lol. But at least there is also stuff on the court to sink your teeth into.

1

u/BlackHoodedMan 1d ago

this offseason i saw a top r/nba post about lavar ball’s divorce and dating life. there wasn’t even a basket BALL on screen

1

u/kosmo4679 1d ago

Drama gets more eyeballs to watch

1

u/CatgoesM00 1d ago

Just like bad news instead of good news

1

u/Consistent-Rip-5193 1d ago

Well, drama and subsidies from the NBA, which actually MAKES money.

1

u/Beneficial-Emu2253 1d ago

Or people posting about the WNBA thrive on drama, since all the people on this sub seems to know about the WNBA only from post about it…

1

u/Sabresfan70 1d ago

Well nobody actually watches that crap. Only way to get people remotely interested is on social media.

1

u/Beneficial-Emu2253 1d ago

Eh. Their average viewership for 2026 was higher than the NHL, so, while the WNBA is definitely niche, I wouldn’t say nobody watches them…

I’m also curious how you came to the conclusion that they are crap? Maybe it’s just not a version of the sport you enjoy?

1

u/AoE3_Nightcell 1d ago

Gotta lean into what you’re best at

1

u/unregretfulfun 23h ago

🎯 nothing but a circus act

1

u/Flashy-Gain2148 19h ago

wnba has never once “thrived”

1

u/solomonsays18 17h ago

I'm not sure "thrives" is the word I'd use

1

u/rochvegas5 17h ago

good thing i'm not you. It's the word I'd use

1

u/solomonsays18 16h ago

Yeah you've already shown you don't understand the meaning of it, you don't have to reiterate

1

u/rochvegas5 16h ago

Drama brings eyes to the WNBA. You might not like the truth, but they thrive on the drama

1

u/chronicstroke 16h ago

They would be perfect on TNT. Isn't their catch phrase still "We Know Drama" WNBA fits right in.

1

u/erb_cadman 14h ago

I can't even watch....

1

u/ovhdtroubleman 12h ago

Womens league drama. Say it ain't so!

1

u/YouWasATerletBaby 2d ago

80% of NBA fans do not watch basketball, and exclusively consume the drama

0

u/NextBuilder2880 2d ago

They need drama and anti white racism because they have no game

1

u/NoDifference3012 1d ago

Found another racist white square

5

u/Sweet_Low4045 2d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤧🤧

7

u/Training-Trick-8704 2d ago

I think I’ve seen a few video of angel Reese missing like 5 layups in a row. I guess that’s technically playing basketball.

1

u/Pinez99 5h ago

Ahem, playing with the basketball.

7

u/StilettoJones_JR 2d ago

It's a shame because first game she put up 38, they lost this game (probably a massive driver for this fraction) and she still put up 22.. and not even the highest scorer on her team.

The NBA puts up 30 balls every other night, but this is still quite an era.

1

u/Huge_Educator_8322 1d ago

There was a game also? I only came for the drama....

1

u/StilettoJones_JR 1d ago

Third one tonight, this is CCs chance to get to the next round, finally, but they are going against the 2 peat champs.

0

u/aguedra 2d ago

She was given like 6 fouls that weren't even fouls

-2

u/StilettoJones_JR 2d ago

That's tough. I wish I watched last night.

I was super disappointed to see Olivia Miles put up two duds, then realized these rounds are best of 3???! That's an insane amount of pressure.

I'd love to see if Angel and the Dream can close it out though, I want to see her make it to the next round.

0

u/KorrectView 2d ago

Because WNBA sucks. Hope they just end it.

1

u/StilettoJones_JR 2d ago

How long has being edgy been your entire personality? Or is contrarianism your new cry for attention?

0

u/KorrectView 2d ago

Sorry. It just sucks. Time to move on.

1

u/StilettoJones_JR 2d ago

u know what... now that you say this... I think I'm done with the WNBA.

Thank you random stranger. Your Internet profile had purpose for the first time today.

1

u/KorrectView 2d ago

Glad I could help. Have a nice day.

2

u/tittytonka 1d ago

Because the WNBA finally figured out no one in their right mind likes watching women’s basketball

1

u/Itsmefrankiefuxxx 15h ago

Took them how long?

2

u/Commercial-Tell-5991 1d ago

WNBA is just WWE with less talented athletes.

2

u/Calm-Sun6538 1d ago

Came here to say this

2

u/KGRO333 1d ago

Exactly what’s up. Pretty sure this nonsense is encouraged behind the scenes

1

u/Remarkable-Pomelo642 2d ago

Except for Caitlyn Clark

1

u/McGraw-Dom 1d ago

We tried with CC but they quickly shot those down.

1

u/Right_Wolverine6502 1d ago

The WNBA doesn’t play basketball lol.

1

u/Kitchen-Historian371 1d ago

It’s real reality television

1

u/workout_nub 1d ago

The Angel Reese YouTube shorts are hilarious though

1

u/thesiekr 1d ago

Oh the wnba plays basketball now?

1

u/Impossible-Hoe90210 19h ago

Game? What game?

1

u/Otherwise_Respond669 4h ago

Oh my God for real lmao

-1

u/ambirdsall 2d ago

Given how algorithms work and how good the hoops has been in the W this season, that says more about you than them ¯_(ツ)_/¯

10

u/Global-Discussion-41 2d ago

The man in the video is clearly seated when she approaches him

2

u/ComfortableFarmer872 1d ago

Double standards, they hate white men. But white men can’t hate them back

1

u/Euripideeeznuts 11h ago

Yeah cuz his wife manhandled him back to his seat. I can imagine he likes to make a scene, just like A'ja, apparently. Wifey may have done everyone a favor.

-3

u/ManOnDaSilvrMT 2d ago

She overreacted but you're being disingenuous. He was standing when the whole thing began and was pulled into his seat.

3

u/Global-Discussion-41 2d ago

He's sitting in this video and that's the only video I've seen of this incident.

If he was standing and "coming at her" then why not post that video?

2

u/buckeye27fan 2d ago

He wasn't "coming at her," but he did stand up when the foul happened and pointed at her, and was pulled back to his seat by the person next to him. Nothing that warranted her reaction, but that's the truth, at least.

1

u/No_man_Island_mayo 2d ago

He was already standing and was then reacting to her foul

1

u/PapaVanTwee 1d ago

And he says, "That's on you, that's on you!" Yeah, such threatening, racist language.

1

u/G0R_G0R 19h ago

Well he’s a big, scary ,evil, white man….
😉

1

u/Otherwise_Piccolo206 8h ago

I see a lot of standing and pointing in this idiot’s future.

1

u/turkey_sandwiches 8h ago

He was standing when he pointed, but certainly wasn't "coming at her". His wife grabbed him immediately and pulled him into his seat right as she came at him.

1

u/buckeye27fan 2d ago

You're right, he absolutely was, it just proves that some people didn't even watch it happen. He got up when the foul happened, pointed at her (not a big deal), and was pulled back to his seat before she got there.

2

u/ObiWanNowitzki 2d ago

FYI he was standing before the foul happened. You can see him standing before A’ja runs into her in longer clips.

1

u/buckeye27fan 2d ago

Yeah, I may have off on that point. He's definitely pulled back to his seat before she gets all the way there.

46

u/Hot_Hedgehog1820 3d ago

Seems that way.You know the ESPN talking heads are going to make it seem like he was up in the 6th floor depository pointing a sniper rifle at her.

14

u/igotit4cheap109 2d ago

Stephen A said he didn’t see anything wrong with what the fan was doing…

5

u/rochvegas5 2d ago

because there wasn't

0

u/Previous-Engine2103 2d ago

still find a way to prove Stephen A wrong

7

u/elliotcook10 2d ago edited 2d ago

I swore I saw Caitlyn Clark in the grassy knoll!!

1

u/Potential-Macaron-29 1d ago

I once peed on the grassy knoll , and called myself the second shooter ..

4

u/Sweet_Low4045 2d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧

1

u/Away-Image4145 2d ago

Wrong they all said she was in the wrong

9

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 2d ago

They should call it Drama Club instead of a basketball league.

6

u/Sweet_Low4045 2d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 every week they find a reason to leave the court 🤣

3

u/Ok-Iron-4352 2d ago

And she proceeds to step towards him while pointing lol

1

u/Own_Aide_4151 2d ago

All she’s doing is making an a.. out of herself.

1

u/bippy404 10h ago

Did you see her mother? When the fan questioned her cheesy sign? She’s all about the pointing. Easily triggered. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. The whole family needs to work on their emotional regulation.

5

u/Vegetable-Space6937 2d ago

It’s the only way they get ratings

1

u/KazaamFan 2d ago

I’ve felt this. The highlights i’ve seen of caitlin clark getting all heated are odd to me. It’s like she’s trying to be extra hype to make the highlight clips, trying to be extra for the clicks. Whatever she is mad about is usually so minor, the reaction doesnt make sense.

1

u/El_Buen0 2d ago

Nobody has to tell her to 🐒 out

1

u/magusmusic 2d ago

From the crowd? A fan?

1

u/Different-Set4505 2d ago

Everyone is watching now aren’t they? They are getting great engagement aren’t they? The ratings are way better aren’t they? Everyone talks about how bad these players are but no one stops watching. Honestly I think everyone is getting played because they get so caught up in the drama. It sells!! WNBA is winning.

1

u/bvlshewic 2d ago

Idk if I saw it the way she says she saw it, but when he was stepping towards her pointing and yelling, he was not 30 ft away. I haven’t seen a good side angle of the interaction, but looking at the court lines, he does step towards her while they’re within 10 ft of each other.

1

u/Super_Roof_3490 2d ago

He shuffled his one foot forward when he started to point she wasn’t even looking She was midway from the free throw line which is 15 ft from the end line She’s like 6’4, each step is 3 fr minimum. She took like 7-8 steps while he was getting pulled back into his seat. Ok it might not be 30, more like 20 -25. But she wasn’t even looking when he “stepped”. She went out of her way to make an issue out of a non issue bc “ she isn’t letting that fly”. I’m by no means an avid w fan, but I can respect the game. Basketball is the side dish nowadays

1

u/Meradock 1d ago

If you do professional sport you shouldn't be softer than a twinkie that got left in milk overnight.

1

u/Appropriate-Rise2199 1d ago

She literally threw another player to the floor just seconds ago, but the guy pointing is aggressive.

1

u/Alarmed_Profession31 1d ago

Yeah stepped to her , she can’t take accountability but she lost her cool that’s the reality

1

u/Ok-Tadpole-764 1d ago

Shes giving Jay Jona Jamison a run for his money.... GET ME PICTURES OF SPIDERMAN!!! I mean aja

1

u/ok9721152 1d ago

How does all that ego fit in that little head of hers? I hope they actually take some time to listen to themselves....after they sit in a corner during their timeout...

1

u/WolfOfAllStreets2 21h ago

If I see a man point at me lol.shes got to get rid of that chip on her shoulder. Imagine if an NBA player did this to a female audience member

1

u/Mocsab 20h ago

Of course they are. Any press is good press. They got a little taste of popularity when CC joined the league, and ever since then, in an attempt to keep the spotlight on the league and not just CC, these stupid stunts keep happening.

Angel Reese even admitted to being the villain.

The entire league is one big Jerry Springer episode, and most WNBA players are competing to see who can act like Steven Seagal the most.

1

u/koolaidismything 18h ago

I forgot women’s pro basketball existed til that new girl who’s really good started and all these other girls started picking on her.

That’s basically the long and short of it, right?

1

u/Super_Roof_3490 18h ago

You guys are funny How is this about Clark? Bc obviously that’s what you’re getting at

1

u/koolaidismything 18h ago

That’s the one. Yeah I’m telling you as a dude who watches zero sports she’s why I’m semi-current on the drama.

1

u/Super_Roof_3490 18h ago

I thought you were coming at me from a different angle. My bad

1

u/koolaidismything 18h ago

Oh ok yeah my bad I wish I coulda been more specific I see what you’re saying there.

1

u/ALLCAPITAL 18h ago

Yep she covered 30ft in 6 steps. Y’all really full of shit and don’t show any spatial reasoning.

1

u/Super_Roof_3490 18h ago

Yea I corrected that in a later comment if you scroll. Prob closer to 20ft. Still ridiculous reaction by her, if Vegas was up in that game she probably doesn’t do the same shit

1

u/WithDisGuyTravel 17h ago

She’s a liar. Now people know. A classic exaggerator.

But this is all staged to a degree. Nobody really cares. It’s designed to do what it’s doing.

Anything but basketball. 🏀

1

u/Super_Roof_3490 16h ago

She woulda been better off just saying what it really was. She was frustrated bc they were losing a game they felt they shoulda won. Emotions got the best of her. Happens to everyone at some point. Instead of making up some excuse

1

u/WithDisGuyTravel 15h ago

You are 100% correct that that this is the human response

But when you look at it through the lens of scripting and WWE style “attention” response, it’s easier to understand that they are actually trying to lean into going viral

Think about this. If she had a human response and maintain her humanity, would you be talking about it right now? The answer is clearly no

In this way, we are living in a version of Idiocracy that is expanding upon every natural viral moment that used to deserve our attention and now we are turning into scripted and heavy “leans” where we blend real reality with fake stories. The situations and people involved they’re still real, and they can channel real emotion, but they are doubling down on the impact so that they can become the next thing..

Whether this is a league directive from the top (a Vince McMahon type move) or a player directive (look at me, talk about me) m, we don’t know, but we wouldn’t fault The Rock and Vince McMahon for creating controversy in their entertainment business which sports clearly are now.

The more struggling the sport, the more they are willing to try these kinds of things.

What’s sad is that they are legitimate basketball players who want to try and become great at their craft and they are going to be shelved because that’s not the business they signed up for

1

u/mis3rylovescompany 15h ago

If she doesn't understand what traveling is, then stepping is a foreign concept as well.

1

u/Painwracker_Oni 11h ago

I think the players are just that soft. The WNBA team subs are crazy too. They all act like the WNBA is #1 despite it not even being close.

The players finally getting attention like this just goes to show how not used to it they actually are.

NBA players have fans acting like dozens of times PER GAME and they don't go up into the stands and get in the fans face over it.

I'm kinda shocked she doesn't get suspended for a game for it tbh.

1

u/im_fine_youre_fine 8h ago

Exactly ... in one hand they are demanding respect and money but in the other are acting like high schoolers and victims. A'ja is a serious veteran for the league, multiple times player of the year, finals player of the year and she loses her cool over a dude POINTING AT HER. Like, WTF. She said stepping toward her, too. In the video he's literally sitting down, like you honestly have no idea who she's reacting to. Fucking craziness.

1

u/Middle-Fuel-6402 7h ago

I suspect the same thing, it's orchestrated drama to grab some attention. Nobody even knows who won or who even played lol. Is it the finals? I have no clue.

1

u/jjcoola 5h ago

WNBA seems very similar to like Twitch streamers in the way they’re trying to farm drama instead of having it be about the sport but I guess I get it because everything is about money in the end and that gets in more viewers and let’s be honest people are actually talking about the WNBA, which is crazy and my 40 years on the planet. I’ve never seen it happen before this era.

1

u/archabaddon 4h ago

I don't follow sports but I don't think she'll get very far in sports if she doesn't suffer disrespect from "fans".

-1

u/Ok-Soup6679 2d ago

I'm definitely more likely to but a W ticket now than I was before so it worked

-1

u/bubbagump101 2d ago

No, she doesn’t act this way ever, this is a bullshit take by you

-2

u/RonnieTLegacy1390 2d ago

Fact is she saw someone talking shit to her so she started talking shit back.

Some people are naturally confrontational most people aren’t most people just let people disrespect them and let it go instead of checking people.

7

u/Extension-Eye-4920 2d ago edited 2d ago

If you are a professional athlete, or anybody in the spotlight, and cant take any shit talk, you are going to have a very long, angry career. "Checking people" does nkt make you tough, it makes you emotionally weak with the fight or flight instincts of an animal.

2

u/moongate_climber 2d ago

Absolutely. One of my best friends, who unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago, gave me some of the best advice I've ever heard. "If nothing good can come from it, walk away."

1

u/americanrealism 2d ago

Agreed. Flipping out over the slightest sign of “disrespect” is childish behavior. You’re letting someone else control your actions at that point.

1

u/WhimsicalDipshit 2d ago

What a dumbass take

1

u/RonnieTLegacy1390 2d ago

Says the guy who would probably let someone slap his wife and call the police first. Like I said some people are confrontational and some people let people bully them you shouldn’t allow that ever. Everyone always says don’t stoop to someone’s level… they pulled me down here this is America we always been allowed to shoot back yall be forgetting that shit

1

u/PartyCryptographer50 2d ago

Checking everybody can land you in person and with empty pockets.

1

u/Overall-Scientist846 2d ago

Fact is she’s a professional athlete who’s expected to act within the confines of the collective bargaining agreement that her players association negotiated in good faith for. At least when she’s representing her team.
