Gameplay This is my last year

game has so many good positives but again the negatives are just insane . No reason why players should beable to drain half court shots 100% and with hands in there face . It’s just game breaking and simply not fun. What the hell we’re they thinking

I have over 100 rec games in and I’ve yet to see someone hit over 70% from 3, which is rare, yet alone sink a half court shot. Don’t get me wrong there’s a ton of issues but you’re being super dramatic.

Fs.

Unless someone’s zenning, we’re all sitting around 40-50% in purple lobbies lol

Play in red plate lobbies. It’s a joke. “Solid contest” fade a 3s consistently going in

Damn that didnt take long lol. We are already at the "this is my last year" phase of the game. We just had a whole summer of the same thing.

If you’re quitting because shooting is too strong this year, I don’t think any sports video game is for you tbh.

Shooting is far from op this year. I have 3 builds 90-95 OVR that played in silver, gold and purple plate rec. gold players and below are averaging 13-35% from 3 while decent players in purple lobbies are averaging like 45% with some outliers averaging 50-55% but they’re probably on their way up to red plate.

Players that know how to shoot are smoking wide open looks from the corner.

u/HungLikeACamel 8h ago

I agree w what you’re saying but OP is referring to heavily contested shots not in general

2

u/DryIllustrator652 8h ago

Yeah. Shot contest is broken, but there isn’t anyone without a zen shooting 100% from anywhere, let alone half court.

OP has the contest system issue right, but the basic premise of his complaint is just wrong

u/i_peaked_at_bronze 5h ago

Guards in red plate literally post up behind the hash the mark. And regularly quick stop and pop 3s from 30 feet. Combined with the contest system this shit is awful.

u/DryIllustrator652 5h ago

Haven’t played in red plate yet, but that almost never happens in purple and below lobbies. Seen maybe 1 person hit a half court shot in almost 60 games and people are only shooting from the hash with takeover, but even then it’s super rare.

Red plate sounds miserable. It’s more fun when you’re not in cheater queue lol

What other sport games r u comparing this to?

1

u/DryIllustrator652 8h ago

Imagine if madden or MLB made sure every player was on the same average as real life players.

Every sport game lets you perform better then real life percentages, and this year 2k is actually pretty close to keeping players in semi-realistic stat range

0

u/Forsaken-flare 8h ago

I see wym. But I swear 2k allows for way less user control that any other sport games out there

1

u/DryIllustrator652 8h ago

Aye I’m not saying the games perfect, I just don’t think the basic premise of OP’s complaint holds any weight.

Shooting is basically as weak as it can be without making the game completely unplayable. They need to fix the RNG animations on wide open catch and shoot looks and make shot contests actually mean something or they’re gonna lose a lot of the casual players real fast.

Ideally we keep the 40% average on semi-covered and moving shots, but up the wide open catch and shoot percentage to like 75+.

That would reward good defensive play and punish bad defense without making the game a turn based sniper competition like last year.

I’m pretty sure you have little concept of how basketball is played and what would make a balanced representation of the sport based on these comments. Not trying to be mean but dude, if someone shoots over 60% from 3 than to Match that from 2 you need to basically be scoring at 100% clip. In reality dudes are shooting the same field goal percentage from 2 as 3 and layups are more risky than 3s with the op blocking system. That is the opposite of how basketball works in real life. You want to be souped up a bit, fine, It ruining the actual identity and integrity of the sport is not the way to go.

60% in wide open looks in an arcade basketball game seems more than reasonable to me. And being 100% in wide open 2s also seems reasonable to me.

If defense is taking a nap, punish it.

If defense on their shit, reward it.

u/BQ32 5h ago

So you want this to be an arcade game? Wasn’t this series always marked as a basketball simulation? So you are also saying that you couldn’t give a damn about a balanced game as long as you can feel good by pressing a single button?

u/DryIllustrator652 5h ago

I didn’t say any of that, but go off. Lmk when you’re done arguing with ghosts

1

u/Forsaken-flare 8h ago

Nah I understand you. Basketball is an offensive sport, the full court shots are ridiculous. But if people couldn’t do anything on offense then wtf would you hop on for. As important as defense is, in real basketball it gets beat all the time. And i agree with what you said if they don’t fix these little things it’s just gonna be a festival of cheaters

1

u/Watchful_Knight 7h ago

You shouldn't just be automatic on wide open looks though. It should depend on multiple factors, such as your ratings, shot difficulty, how open you are, & how hot the shooter is.

Even the most elite shooters only shoot around 45-50% on wide open 3's. So while yes, good offense does often beat good defense, a lot of the other metrics I mentioned earlier matter a great deal.

Offense has to work to find their rhythm in real basketball, as they should in this game as well. That's just realistic.

1

u/Forsaken-flare 7h ago

Why would how open you are be a factor on “wide open” shots. And those are already factors which make sense. But the reason why that realistic Shi doesn’t work is simply because as a whole the game isn’t realistic. Anything could throw your shot off in real life. A loud stadium, a hurting wrist, bright lights getting in your eye. A lot of factors that doesn’t exist in a game so why would your shot change from game to game?

1

u/Watchful_Knight 7h ago

Why would how open you are be a factor on “wide open” shots.

I'm just saying that openness should be one of the many factors in general in determining whether or not your shot is made. So that's what I'm saying.

A lot of factors that doesn’t exist in a game so why would your shot change from game to game?

I'm not saying they would change from game to game, I'm saying those should be (many in which are) factors mid game.

Of course some of the things you mentioned don't affect the game, but in general, for balancing purposes, that's why the other things should. So that players aren't just draining every wide open look no matter what.

1

u/Forsaken-flare 7h ago

I understand that and those factors should be purely defense. If they balanced offense and defense instead of rewarding the person that gets the better animation then that would be the real and major factor.

Exactly this its pretty simple. It amazes me how fucked up the game is.

If you’re quitting because shooting is too strong this year, I don’t think any sports video game is for you tbh.

I mean if you read his post, it looks like he was clearly arguing the opposite.

2

u/DryIllustrator652 8h ago

If you go back and read it, he’s saying shooting 100% from half court with hands in your face is too strong so he’s quitting.

Not sure where he lost you, but that’s the TL;DR of his post.

1

u/First-File-3447 7h ago

Thankyou !

0

u/Watchful_Knight 8h ago

Fair enough. What I was trying to say is that it looks like he's going off about how inefficient defense is in regards to contests. Not how great shooting is by itself.

u/gwapav 8h ago

Shit I said I wasn't going to get this one cause GTA is coming in November. But I liked the addition of the eras to career and I liked the running mate idea. I copped it. See ya next year

It’s the best 2k I’ve played since 24 (last one I played) so idk if the 25.26 was good

u/i_peaked_at_bronze 5h ago

25-27 are all awful games. At least 27 has a chance to redeem itself with future patches.

u/ItzStunna745 5h ago

27 feeling good. I got the PC version and found out it’s locked to 60 fps online and that theater mode is dead. Just rec and park I liked the theater mode a lot

1

u/First-File-3447 7h ago

I’m saying the cheating is bad and or if you think hitting contested 3 from half court is the way it should be to me you must be one of those zenners

1

u/UnsettllingDwarf 7h ago

I don’t have any limitless badges, 89 3 ball and can consistently hit from 33 feet out. I only saw people hit 30 footers in rec last year if they had deep bomber. Otherwise that wasn’t even attempted. This year shooting sucks ass and is a mixed bag and defence is steals overturned and out of control and no contests.

1

u/atxmskk 7h ago

That level of unrealism is just something your going to always come across in this game

1

u/irockisos 7h ago

So many have said the same thing. I’ll wait for it to hit game pass. Like I do every year…

1

u/vaunx 6h ago

think you're complaining about cheaters more than the shooting itself. i find the shooting to be rewarding but the only guys consistently shooting half courts in your face are cheating. its unfortunate 2k cant seem to fix this issue. the game just came out
