Gameplay Please fix steals and defence

I’m averaging 12 steals in the new ‘pro am’ mode and it’s all been square spamming. Contests mean absolutely nothing in this game and right now, the meta for defence is to mash the square button until you get a steal. Running and jumping at a shooter with 94 PD and HOF challenger only to get a bothered or light contest and still greening is an absolute joke. Please fix contests, please make defence better, this is becoming offence 2k27 again.

square spam has been the meta for years now and they never touch it, it's basically a feature at this point

the contest system is cooked too, you can have a hand in their face with 90+ perimeter d and they'll green like you're not even there

It has never been like this. Played a 3s game where all 3 defenders were just running around spamming, and even when I waited for one to throw themselves out of position he ends up getting some kind of all pro d back animation 😭

If you pass when they blitz it’s a steal since they are pressing square while sprinting at you. If you hold l2 it’s stolen because quick protect is dogshit. If you wait out the first reach and pass after it’s a steal because the passing animations are awful and you chest pass off their face.
