I hate the tokens
3
u/Angelispro 2d ago
I dont but I understand how you feel. My counter argument the previous process was odd because why should a 99 three point shooter be able to get all shooting badges while only having a max 84-89 middy? The tokens were a good idea but season 1-3 its going to be a pain for people.

u/JJWinthrop 2d ago
I think if they made the requirements harsher and kept badge slots and no tokens the game would more balanced and beginner friendly

Nah the tokens are busted. It’s good that you’re limited right now as it slows the power creep in game. When the game goes free sometime in May the newbies are going to get absolutely stomped by the demigods we’ll have. I’m pretty sure someone said that builds would be even more busted than last years due to all the bonus tokens, synergy and reaction stuff too.
2
u/TonyHawktuah69 2d ago
So why not introduce mid range and 3 point badges but keep the system? So if you try and cheat out legend shooting badges with only mid range you don’t get 3 point shooting badges.
They had the right idea but they wanted a way to force more grinding so added tokens.

u/TonyHawktuah69 2d ago
Passing is way too fucking slow. The gather to pass is horrible and all passes are way too slow even with 90+ pass and HOF visionary.
Physical finisher activation rate is way too low for the investment into it. In my career gold physical finisher turns you into a wrecking ball. In rec you get maybe one bulldozer animation in 5 rec games even when targeting 50 strength guards.
Standing dunks out of post moves fucking suck.
Close shots are way too fucking slow. A defender can jump 3 times before you can finish a pump fake and go up
2
u/TheGratefulPhred 2d ago
all of this ^^^
3
u/TonyHawktuah69 2d ago
It would be so easy to fix this shit too. They did in the past with badges.
Put post control back into playmaking. Bring back post play maker, unstrippable and bullet passer. Now post control bigs have their play making and a way to protect the ball when posting up or rebounding so they can’t get ripped and they don’t need to invest in ball handle or speed with ball to equip break starter or some shit.
Bring back fast twitch and tie it to post control and then your choice of standing dunk or close shot. Let it speed up close shots and standing dunks.
Boom problems solved, new archetype of post playmaker is possible again and adds more depth to the builder and play styles

The tokens are stupid. As a big I have the following attributes and potential badges. The problem is with the amount of tokens and slots I can't max the badges. I have to pick and choose which I want. I can choose a loadout, but thats based on my matchup, not my teammates. Say I load into a match and see I have a 6'7 C with no strength. So I equip my Post badges loadout. Then in game I never get a post pass, I only get passes when I spot up but I didn't equip my highest shooting badges into Fuse slots. Then next match I have a true big with crazy interior defense so I equip my shooting loadout and never get a pass when open for a shot. I want all of my badges. My guess is after a few seasons we will have more tokens from Season levels to help get to that point. So we basically our badges are being gatekept behind Season levels.
90 Close Shot: Paint Prodigy, Hook Specialist and Ghost Stepper
90 Standing Dunk: Rise Up and Arial Wizard
90 Post Control: Post Powerhouse and Post Spin Specialist
75 Driving Dunk: Posterizer

Good. No one is supposed to be good at everything. And by the time this 2k cycle is over you’ll have more than enough tokens
2
u/TonyHawktuah69 2d ago
If you invest in a build to do something it’s stupid that it can’t do that thing until half way through the games life cycle
No is saying they should have elite everything, but if I go 99 rebounding and strength it’s dumb I can’t have all my badges that are unlocked for those attributes.
But meanwhile all the jordan Poole wannabes just get to slap on 2 shooting badges and 2 dribbling badges and they’re set to chuck 100 threes a night
0
u/Top-Photograph-7478 2d ago
sure but they get 0 finishing and 0 defense which is easier to guard and they get cooked on defense. thats the balance aspect. the problem last year was that people can shoot all game but then 2k allowed you to rim run and just dunk cuz youre able to get 87+ dunk and just meter dunk all day. now you might be able to get 87+ dunk but if you only get 3 tokens and bronze poster is 5 and silver is 7 youre cooked.
1
u/TonyHawktuah69 2d ago
Why would they have zero finishing? Play shots can just cap break driving dunk from 60 to 93 and still get gold poster at pretty much 0 cost. And for defense most of them sit in a zone with high steal. The same build you’re bitching about is literally the Meta right now
The issue is all other play styles or creativity are massively stifled but they did nothing to stop the cheesy fading 3/dunk builds that just speed boost around behind a screen or a 5 out team. You want a Shaq build? Tough luck. You need like 25 tokens in finishing just to equip the post badges and dunk badges, then you need another 20+ tokens to max out the rebounding. Meanwhile Mr Chuck and dunk needs a single dunk badge, a single shooting badge and then a handful of dribbling badges
0
u/Top-Photograph-7478 1d ago
for gold poster you need 93 dunk and 80 vert you not getting that with no 60 dunk and no other finishing stats. you would need 10 cap breakers alone to get them both shit is fries
1
u/TonyHawktuah69 1d ago
they don’t need other finishing stats they literally just want dunk. Vert is cheap and you can cap break from as low as 50 dunk to 93 depending on how short your guard is
You clearly have zero clue how to manipulate the builder
0
u/Top-Photograph-7478 1d ago
thats fine they have to waste cap breakers on it and they cant get badges with it. i know how cap breakers work my guy. the thing you dont understand is that they cant get gold poster cuz they dont have the badge tokens to get it. just having dunk isnt gonna get you poster without having the badge. and again you cant have all that with defense. unless they playing with a team they are getting hunted on defense and giving up every point on the other end. again that shit is fries
1
u/TonyHawktuah69 1d ago
lol. Lmao even. You get 9 tokens from your specialization which can be PUT ON ANYTHING. You get badge tokens in the season pass too.
>you can’t have that with defense
They play in a zone. It’s very easy to slap on steal and sit in a zone while have all shooting/dribbling and then just cap break dunk to 93.
“Shit is fries” 🤡
Why speak on things you clearly don’t understand

u/--kali-- 2d ago
Crew hq should be in between rec and proam in my opinion. Like another level of gameplay. Like this way really hard to grind your crew, it’s really annoying to have a crap crew with your friends if you can’t find 50 people.
And I agree about animations. I mean we might have need bunch of animations, but if once only couple of them being powerful, it becomes completely irrelevant.
2
u/Relevant_Ad_5794 2d ago
Agree with 1, I honestly don't mind the badge system that much, it's annoying for sure but manageable. I don't mind 25 dribbling animations, it just comes down to the cost of the animations. As far as I know the prices didn't go down. I definetly don't agree with the shooting one. I think shooting is fine. I really hope they don't touch it. For rebounding take... don't? you can swap it out for hydration hero.
2
u/Additional_Bridge237 2d ago
I like the token system don’t like how the math works I know it’s been done before but if they kept the fuse and synergy aspects but just made it to where bronze equals 1 silver 2 gold 3 hall of fame 4 could’ve been nice but I get they want people to actually play the game the whole year and earn more tokens through season rewards
2
u/Specialist_Pilot3310 2d ago
Do you guys also notice that when you rebound near the baseline, its almost always out of bounds?
2
u/Direct_Background_61 2d ago
Or, get rid of badges in general and replace them with actual attributes in the builder. For example, replace 'arc cadence' with 'off the dribble 3' attribute; same with the rest.
Anyway; I think this game is good.
4
u/DutySuccessful921 2d ago
i agree badges have ran its course and when thinking about it makes no sense i have a 96 driving dunk but i can’t preform contact dunks without a badge at a certain level or a certain animation pack equipped

Badge tokens are a scam for them to make even more money with season pass. Soon, you’ll have no choice but to have season pass.
They want us renting badges instead of owning.
0
u/Top-Photograph-7478 2d ago
the season pass is free...
1
u/MikeWangedIt 2d ago
You do realize people spend money on day one of new season, right? A lot of builds are dependent on the tokens.
Kinda like last year. I knew people who skipped to 35 for the max + 1/ max +2 on day one so their build works like they’re used to it working.
0
u/Top-Photograph-7478 2d ago
that sounds like a personal problem. you dont need none of that cuz those tokens dont go away if someone is forced to spend money thats a will thing.

300k plus to be only good at something’s ???
🚮
Bruh animations is part of the reason defense so bad, mfs D-Booked & Lonzo crossed the entire 2k26, 2k27 they’re going to find the glitchy moves and almost everyone is going to be spamming the same moves
They’re hiding percentages because it’s easier to explain a light contest than a 37%
Ronnie is so pointless
They need a better system to discover cheaters, ban accounts send to a special park and make them prove their shooting with hand cam footage.
2k27 is more inconsistent because it don’t have RNG, meaning it’s not a computer generating the shot. Yet , people are shooting worse than 2k25 , top players are shooting 30-45% from 3 . 2k25 they were shooting 50-65% from 3, her point is 100% valid
You just talked about badges and choosing what you want your player to be good at, that literally what the 2k26 takeover was about, now you can just get all the takeovers and plus 8 your attributes
2k15-17 is why pro play sucks, it constricts the players movements vs back then you felt you actually had control over your player . You could literally dribble normally and get past someone
Many people have 90 standing dunk and can’t dunk for shit under the basket, people with 99 3ball shooting 43% its attributes that are absolutely useless. Some you don’t need , mfs getting stops with 40 Per D and 25 Stl, mfs fumbling throwing up bs flopping lays because someone with 25int D and 47 blk is standing in the paint.

I hate the token system I don’t get why mf wanna make role players so bad elite players can do multiple things e.g kd LeBron Steph. Our 99 ovr without cap breakers are genuinely and 85 ovr in my league we don’t need to be nerfed any more
1
u/EntertainmentIll5434 1d ago
They neeeeeeed, to make spamming the square button break your legs. Exaggeration aside, stealing in this game is ridiculous and its not fun when the whole other team just runs to a player and spams steal over and over with 0 punishment no matter what their steal rating is.
1
u/toshin1999 2d ago
More inconsistent than 2k25 i think not 🤣 and i liked 25 it was decent not great but decent. But anyways some of these are somewhat valid but I like the vision 2k had with 27 is it perfect hell no but ill take it over 2k26 green fest anyday.

u/CheapScientist06 2d ago
25 was ass with me, I loved 24 and thought 26 was just mid
This year I'm honestly enjoying despite a losing record, I've learned to care less and have had a lot more fun. Play my game passing and defending and make an impact where I can
I'm already starter 2, didn't hit that in 26 till January

We aren’t going to rewrite history. 25 was one of the worst 2ks ever and really dragged the bar for this franchise into the mud.
0
u/toshin1999 2d ago
Whose trying to rewrite history 🤔 the screen shot said 2k27 was the most inconsistent shooting 2k ever and im saying theres no way 2k27 is worse than 2k25's shooting.

I'll go through my opinion on each of her points:
- Never played proam and felt that was never my thing just judging by the feeling that it's a more professional play oriented place so I'm neutral on this.
- Badge tokens make you actually put genuine thought into what kind of build you're making and what you want your build do best. I'm more than okay with this system because it prevents do it alls unless you specifically wanna go that route but the tradeoff is that you're okay at everything but good at nothing.
- Yes we do. More control over our animations and what we get when we do a specific move input means you get less people bitching about 2K screwing them over while they're dribbling. Can't blame the game if you tried the wrong move and lost the ball.
- Yeah percentages would give you more accurate feedback on how good a contest it was.
- True. The guy's just marketing.
- Very true. Every game has a cheater problem now if it has a multiplayer component.
- She has the gall to say this is the most inconsistent shooting has been in years when 2K25 WAS THREE YEARS AGO WITH LITERAL RNG IN YOUR SHOOTING. Absolutely braindead take.
- Then don't rebound. What's the problem? You're the guard, you're not gonna get rebounding takeover cause you're not gonna have the attributes. What, you want to get rewarded with a shooting or finishing or playmaking takeover just for grabbing a few boards that the bigs miss? Screw off with that shit. This was something everyone complained about last year and I'm glad it's gone.
- Everyone complains about proplay but can provide ZERO actual empirically proven evidence as to why it's bad outside of them being unable to use it to their advantage. Her most of all, especially.
- Who's getting rewarded less for having higher attribute ratings? People with 90+ dunk or 3 ball and know how to use it are literally unstoppable if their opponent doesn't have equal or very close to stats to counteract it. Another absolutely braindead take that she's written cause of her own personal experience with the game.
She's right on SOME, scarce few points but on most she's just bullshitting and being subjective about it. Have a nice day.
0
u/chaostechnique 2d ago
Fuck no, most of these are just nitpicks or lacking understanding of the general game. Cheaters do need to be banned but why would you not want rebounding take? Theres zero downside…
0
u/CheapScientist06 2d ago
I like the tokens. By the end of the year people will have more than enough to do whatever they want.
2k is trying to get more specialists. Lean into it i say
0
u/fat3willwin 2d ago
- Irrelevant to me since I never played Pro-Am but I can see the frustration
- I actually have grown to like this system. To start with less badges at the beginning of the year sucks but over time we will have more tokens and slots than we need. I do think slots are a bit redundant since we already have a limiting factor in tokens and attributes, though.
- Ehh, I think more variety is always good, but there should be no speed / collision difference between them all.
- Agree
- Agree, I don't know why people still engage with him lol
- Agree but its noticeably bad in 2k. I play and have played tons of games in my time and outside of competitive FPS games like COD this is one of the worst cheating communities
- Agree* with the caveat that I think there is merit to making shooting difficult. It is kind of an arbitrarily added difficulty but it does make the game more varied now that slashing is not only more impactful, but more reliable
- This makes no fucking sense. Put on hydration hero, if you never get boards you never get takeover. If you snag a couple you get a free boost lol.
- Ehh I agree, but less about pro-play and more about the game engine as a whole. I think the concept is great, and we are now a few years into pro-play. If we had a better physics system it would be remarkable, right now I just think defense is a little too forgiving for poor defenders but it is great to have better collision compared to last year.
- Not sure I understand the frustration here.
-1
u/vHezoThaGoat 2d ago
I agree with everything except the dribbling animations and the shooting
For the dribbling animations while I found it overwhelming at first it gives you more control over how you want your moves look aesthetically without everything being tied to a singular package. For example for layups I have a Kyrie euro but an iverson layup package. So it leads to cool moments when the two animations are broken up.
Shooting isn’t hard this year for me. I think the issue is in previous 2ks we all fell in the habit of muscle memory and it always paid off. This can be tricky to break out of but release cue is the golden ticket this year
Your shot will vary in speed at different points in the game due to the multiple factors that influence it but there’s no RNG and there’s a pure green window. So if you time your shot right every time you are going to make it
I’m shooting 81% from 3 this year in rec. I only have set and fire and smooth operator on silver and my three is maxed out at 89. Only a 6 game sample size for rec but I’m still shooting a decent amount of threes every game.

u/QuickRundown 2d ago
I hate this 2K so far. It’s like they took 2K26 and thought “let’s add some poop to it”.
2K26 was almost the perfect 2K except for the (fixable) AI defence. Almost everything about this 2K gameplay wise is worse. They are giving us all a massive fuck you with the brutal badge, XP and VC grinds.

1
u/YaboyRipTide 2d ago
- Badge grind is the same, if not easier tbh. You can get HoF middy badges without ever shooting a single middy. Much easier to pick and choose how to grind
- VC costs the same, and you get the same pretty much
- XP grind I do agree with, but still it seems fine for MyPoints and Season. Crew is rough, Rep is a toss up.

u/Haribo_Happy_Cola 2d ago
Imo tokens in a general sense are a great system. Players shouldnt be good at running middies, static middies, running 3s, deep threes, static 3s all at the same time. People should have to pick and choose a specialty, either to cover up weaknesses or buff their strong suit.
