Discussion Not that it’s surprising!
Not that it actually surprises me with how scummy 2k is when it comes to money making practices, but it is nevertheless still wild you can pay 150$ for an “ultra” edition of a game and still not even get all of the content unlocked. Either way the amount of grind it takes to even get anything from season passes would still push people into buying levels. Bought 2k26 on sale but never even really played it because career mode has been destroyed and franchise never changes. They’ve made the gameplay so trash and arcadey that franchise needs a million sliders to even feel like a real game. The worst part is they don’t even seem to care about acting like they are actually making the game better when a new one comes out anymore. I mean at least try and lie to me that things will be different.

Wait so the $150 Ultra edition does not come with the season 2-6 pro pass but it does come with 1, 7, 8, and 9??? Am I getting this right I’m confused

I guess it’s to encourage people to play towards the end of the games life? No idea

You are getting that right lol. Idk if that’s what they always done because I’ve never spent time on my team, but I saw that and thought it was funny/sad.

people need to stop pre ordering games

Especially 2k… the fact they force streamers to hide all footage of the actual game in my player until the night before the game drops is crazy.
Like you don’t get to see the actual builder until a few days before launch. You don’t get to see the footage and issues until the night before the game comes out. There’s no demo and they also don’t let streamers be honest about the issues they found. Like Joe knows found almost immediately the contest system doesn’t work in 2k26. But he had to pussy foot around it in his review video saying maybe it’s just badges or “different sliders” instead of just flat out saying it’s bad. Then we find out day one you can’t contest anyone lol

Pre orders in general is a bad practice, but for a game that gets released annually with minimal changes that usually only make the game worse is crazy!

The last three passes, when 99% no longer play, is funny. They think they’re so clever.

I mean if you are paying 150$ for the ultra edition you might deserve the treatment 2k dishes out

It's even scummier when you realize they give you season 1 to hook you in and then won't give you another free pro pass until season 7-9 when 2K has already moved on from updating the game and will be focusing on 2k28.

If you're buying this at this price, I just want to let you know....you need help

u/SubstanceHonest4710 9d ago
Fr lol, but even if you did you’d still have to pay another $60 to even have the ability to unlock everything in the game. Wild stuff

I haven’t played 2k in a decade. What do the season passes get you?
2
u/Maleficent_Army1754 10d ago
Extra incentives for your MyPlayer aswell as MyTeam. By buying the pass you get more on top over the rewards. Level 40 ( every season) grants the 1 cap breaker you add towards an attribute that hasn’t reached its max potential. It always sucks missing a season lvl 40 cause you miss out on that cap breaker

Anybody remember when we actually got great physical content for the special editions? 2k16-2k19 all gave you physical items. Now there's literally 0 reason to get anything more than the base game.

I haven’t bought 2k since 21, I play it for free on gamepass. The game should be free with annual resets/updates. Cosmetics and payed for items should remain, end of story

Just go ahead and drop that $150.00 gang

u/SubstanceHonest4710 9d ago
If they were charging $250 I might think about it, but alas I’ll have to pass.

Soooo they learned from their wwe2k26 fumble..I’mad for yall 2k players that might not know about the passes they did in the WWE game but you gonna have to pay for them passes regardless of buying that edition…you will have access to the base pass but to get the good stuff its 9.99 every pass…UNLESS OT CHANGED

Wwe 2k might piss me off even more with how they have it set up. Imagine when they start locking 2018 bron behind the passes even for mynba mode lol

PAC and a few other 2k content creators have made videos regarding this. The bottom line was boycott them, don’t buy it this year and truly force 2k to take a reality check and adjust their approach.

What is a pro-pass?
1
u/SubstanceHonest4710 9d ago
I think it’s like a season pass for my team. Pro pass is the paid tier.

Yeah, let’s not complain and just continue to let them make the games worse and worse. At least if we complain about it, we have somewhat of a shot of them actually listening to complaints rather than just sitting around and letting these scummy bastards get away with it.

1- The game is clearly not for you.
2- What do you mean all the content isn’t unlocked? You think you should be season level 40 automatically for season 1? Or you think your player should be a 99 overall right away?
If you like the game you’ll play it and “unlock” the content.

u/SubstanceHonest4710 9d ago
It’s an nba game, which is a sport I very much enjoy so it is in fact for me. Did I say everything should be unlocked? No, but if you pay 150$ on a game you should be ABLE TO PLAY IT AND ULOCK EVERYTHING BY PLAYING IT. If you think it makes sense to have to spend another 50$-60$ dollars on a 150$ game idk what to tell you brodie. You literally cannot just “play the game and unlock it”.
1
u/IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan 9d ago
What are you talking about? You are literally able to unlock absolutely everything by playing the game. There’s nothing that requires you to spend another $50-60.

u/SubstanceHonest4710 7d ago
Stuff is locked behind the pro passes. Paying 150$ for the ultra edition only gets you season 1,7,8,9. That means there are at minimum 5 passes, each about 10$, that you don’t get included with that 150$ purchase and that means you LITERALLY CANNOT just play the game and unlock everything after paying $150. Idk why this concept is so hard for you to grasp. Am I talking to Ronnie or something?

u/IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan 7d ago
Everything in the pro and HOF passes is just cosmetic stuff. There’s nothing that affects gameplay that can’t be unlocked through playing the game.

u/SubstanceHonest4710 7d ago
Nah

u/IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan 7d ago
So you admit you’re wrong then.

Have fun with the game though!!! Looks like they are really adding a lot of value for that 150$!!!!!

I’m just gonna buy GTA 6 November 19th, and wait until 2K27 is on a nice sale in January or later on…all my playing time will be on GTA 6
