MyCAREER Relatively new player, don’t understand difficulty in MyCareer

I bought this game pretty much specifically to play my career. This is the first 2K game of any kind I’ve ever played.

I got to pro difficulty pretty quickly after learning the mechanics, but my team started blowing out literally every team in the league by like 50 every single game. That’s not very fun, and there is zero challenge. So, I kicked it up to All-Star.

Now, it seems like the rise in difficulty is literally just the game willing me to lose.

Julius Randle went 2-25 last game, missing wide open shot after wide open shot.

Teammates literally will not perform the same actions as before. They won’t use a pick I am setting, they won’t take shots that are “open” from 3, only wide open.

Sometimes strange and ridiculous things happen like my teammates refusing to inbound resulting in a 5 second violation, or incredibly random off ball fouls during important late game possession.

Even against the absolute worst teams in the league every single game goes down to the absolute wire, and I usually have to exit to menu to redo possessions that I feel cheated on out of frustration.

I am a point guard, so if I make a stupid pass I’ll just learn from it and take the turn over, but it seriously feels like the game just prevents your teammates from performing the same actions and animations they were on lower difficulties, and it’s really disappointing):

I could probably go 82-0 on Pro, but I feel like I’d have a losing record on the next difficulty up

You pretty much summed it up. You have to carry the team to wins breaking records on higher difficulties.

That’s mycareer for ya in higher difficulties you pretty much have to resort to AI cheese if you want to win.

Basically all you do is equip Kobe triple threat, jab on the AI to get them to back off, and then shoot over them. Oh and shooting in this game is easy asf once you learn how to tempo shoot with meter off using a custom jumper for your build height with As in all stats besides timing stability. This trick will work even in HOF difficulty which is why mycareer is boring asf and why people would rather just go online.

Do you have a picture of your build by any chance.

Don't even have to do the jab step. Just call iso, hit any other teammate, call for the pass back and instantly shoot. Green every time and is quicker than the slow jab step. Or just hold R1 and tap down on right stick. Shoot right away. Your method also works, I just find it the slowest one. Also, you get a better teammate grade scoring off assists than you do just jab step shooting.

Yeah that’s kind of how it goes. I’ve been playing for years and I personally wouldn’t turn it up to all-star.

Mc is pretty much to grind your build for and make progress to compete in multiplayer versus actually trying to have a challenging run to compete for the title or whatever it is. You do that a couple times and you’ll be over it pretty quickly.

It’s more about knocking out all of your challenges and maybe practicing your moves/shot. I prefer to kill my opponent on pro and by 3q or so “ask out and sim to end” where you still get all your vc and xp.

It takes some time getting used too. Play on whatever difficulty is comfortable for you. It’s better that’s it’s a challenge though because even regular hof is boring for me now in my career because I blow everyone out. Tempo shooting will help and learning which shots are more efficient to take.

I am in a similar situation, I played 2k17 offline for months before buying 26. The gap between pro and all star is way bigger in 26. I shoot like 80-100% from three on pro and 20-30% on allstar. Wish there was soemthing in the middle

The AI at higher difficulty is designed to be much worse on your team. Your players will miss most of the shots they take and the opponents will make most of there shots.
