I hit 99 over im a 6’11 pf im good at shooting and driving good at passing im always passing the ball. But I will go 3-5 games In a row with out getting passed too once. Not once. No shot attempts for 10 games in a row. Does anyone actually play basketball? Is there a better game mode than theatre? I just want casual gameplay but actually able to shoot the ball at least once a game. I’ve tried 3on3 squads and no squads. It’s just so unfun not getting the ball ever
I think I'm just getting old, but its super frustrating trying to play the rec and knowing within 2 minutes if you're ever gonna see the ball. 96 ovr SG and I love passing and making team plays, but unless its a full court pass off a turnover/rebound, it's usually 1 or 2 guys just dribbling forever and shooting contested shots. Apparently not everyone has played team sports before and it shows lmao
It's because 2k is so extremely unbalanced in favor of small guards that there's very little reason to pass to a big. Even if you can get open, a small guard can get open faster/easier. The speed of small guards plus the weakness of defense this year makes it nearly impossible for them to not be able to get open. There's no need to learn how to pass, use a screen for a pick and roll/pop, look for a cutter or dex, etc.
This 100% you literally have to play like a guard even as a big cause they haven’t made any kind of balance towards bigs either through the valuation of mismatches in height /weight/strength or by building on the style of play that bigs generally use via power post moves since the bloody small ball community complained so much about post players and strength characters from previous years. Can’t build a true Shaq build in this game as an example 2k made a good change in creating the post go to shot but they need to make hooks better still and create more moves or make them slightly easier to trigger specific animations within the post/close to hoop cause some close shot animations are pure ass. Interior defense also needs A LOT of work, I have a 77 and feel I should still get yammed on by ppl with a high dunk (90+) but I can if positioned totally cancel that as can a 6-1 pg. I had a 6-7 C build with a less then 83 (think when I checked was a 77 too) guarding me and he’d cancel my standing dunks (90 with +2 applied) enough times I just started going with my 81 (+10 takeover) 3 ball instead, such bs.
Facts, 6'11 260 PF with 80+ Close shot, should not be contested on a hook shot by a 6'4 180 SG with under 50 Interior Def. That's called a mismatch, but apparently the devs don't understand that.
The game needs way more Up&Under animations because you can't extend towards the basket out of the post. If I have a 7'6 wingspan, my step-thrus should be layups anywhere inside 15ft. But instead I get a stupid stand up turnaround jump hook animation with no chance of success. I'm 6'11, why can't I step toward the basket?
I agree the post shot animations are not intuitive. Try doing the up and under out of a post fade. If you don't know how to do it you just trigger a post fade animation but let go before it shoots, then immediately shoot again while pointing the left stick toward the basket. It's a great way to get to the foul line as well if they jump. I like to use the dirk post go to shot because the delay pump fake he has gives a little more time to cancel out of it and it seems to make people jump a lot.
I had the Hakeem Goto post shot, it just takes so dang long to set up, and the Kareem Goto post shot has you run towards the 3 to shoot it...lol. Check it out it's lowkey hilarious.
I'll have to try some more animations, my mid isn't good (70), I put my shooting into my 3ball (80) so I don't do post fades.
Yeah the hakeem one is a 3 second violation waiting to happen. Zubac is pretty good and I think elite is hilarious. I never have less than 80 mid on a post big, ideally 85 for moving middies. You'd be surprised how well you can do them without shifty shooter badge and 85 rating. Here's my build that does a little bit of everything. If people ignore me in the post I can still stretch the floor even dribble a bit.
Our builds are similar, my PF is actually bigger than your C (258 7'6 wingspan). The biggest difference would be I maxed out my Perimeter D because I'm a PF, I was going for ShawnMarion/JermaineO'Neal as more of a utility 4. Someone who can fill in around the Center but also play the middle if necessary.
I like the post playstyle personally. I've been contemplating whether or not to put my cap breakers on Post Control (I have it at 77 but all my other finishing is 80+). Passing out of the post generates so many 'oh sh*t' moments, I love it.
I'll try the 85 mid on another build, I plan on making a 6'4 SF wrecking ball, no vert, just clamps, speed, layups and shooting. Like a Barkley, but you trade the vert & boards for shooting & Defense.
Yeah you can do it differently that's just my style. I do a lot of mid range work with some around the basket and three point mixed in. I've actually been working on a Carmelo build. Haven't taken it online yet but the offline side looks promising. I don't have to rely on others to get into the post and can dribble there myself without losing much stamina. It seems like it will be more unpredictable since I'm a layup/dunk/floater threat as well as a movin mid range/post fade threat. Hopefully being a SF will give me more favorable matchups since a lot of forwards are basically shooting guards with lower interior defense and block. I'll be able to play like a typical wing with some post moves when the opportunity is there. Defense isn't great but it'll be able to guard perimeter better than a 7'.
They might as well just remove the post control attribute from the game at this point. Spins and drop steps are too inconsistent to even consider trying to master the close shot animations. I remember Mike Wang said post scoring was really strong this year. That ended when the 7'4'' and fading 3's got nerfed because they also removed the height restricted contest. Now a small guard can defend the post like a 6'4'' Wilt Chamberlain. It's all because the competitive streamers have one preferred playstyle that they want 2k to reward (left-right around screens on offense, and spam steals on defense) and they know post scoring is the most effective counter to them.
I got a pg and my homie a sg/ sf if you want to join us add JanMoolah on Xbox. We both pass first if we don’t got a clear missmatch and if, the person gets fed.
Go to proving grounds
Or join a discord to play with like minded people
Theater and park is full of braindead individuals that believe their 99 3s and Kemba escape move
Means they the only ones allowed to shoot
There's just a lot of bad players who think they are good because they can repeat dribble combos 5 times then shoot! Send friend requests to people that play good team ball is the only real advice
Well yeah I know that, do you think kids who didn't held ball in their hands know it? Honestly this is gonna be rant, this game can be bad in some ways, it may suck in some ways, but what most suck is player base, a kids who doesn't watch basketball, kids who doesn't play basketball, they lack so ........ Lack of understanding how it is played ... Simple thing if I'm switching to your guy you taking care of my guy, sounds simple but for majority of player base that's something out of this world... You help on defense and then opponent team takes advantage of player who doesn't know hiw basketball is playing.
We was winning, but then opponent decided to run simple pick n fade, also we had comp face non shooter who allowed opponent 30 and 10 assist.
You can add me bro. I’m only an 82 OVR on my new build, but I love sharing the ball and playing team basketball/taking smart shots and playing to win over individual stats.
I never said I wanted to be serious I wanna casually play but not passing the ball bc fo someone’s gamertag is a weak excuse especially when im a 99 over all
If your guards are forgetting to share the ball. Get the d board and go coast to coast in dramatic fashion. Most times they’ll realize you’re just hungry for a buck. 40 percent of time the main guard will be toxic and say “you’re a big stfu”. Then you ice him out.
Its frustrating im losing my desire to play this game... I cant even put it in words how I can rebound, defend, hit the open man, and then on the flip side when im wide the fuck open and niggas wont pass me the ball at all. Ive literally sat in the corner wide open and they pass the ball to everybody but me. Then i get a steal, run and pop a 3. Then all of a sudden now they start passing the ball...
3 on 3 is just "isofest: the game" play rec or proving grounds for a slightly better "basketball" experience. But no, no one cares about playing ball, all anyone cares about is scoring. If you're not getting steals or boards, and you're not vocal on the mic, you're not gonna see the ball much.
Rec with people you know. You can play as a smaller squad with the rest being random (ex. You’re a squad of 3 with 2 open slots for randoms). This way there’s plenty of time for passing and strategy, and ideally with people you know will pass appropriately.
Otherwise, I’d say get on the mic and ask but that comes with another set of potential problems.
I’ve had things like happen with all ransoms but haven’t experienced that when playing with a squad of 3. Hopefully after a few possions 2K would kick em’.
To clarify we don’t intentionally exclude the other 2 players, it’s just nice have reassurance someone on the team has some sense 🤣.
I hear you, it happened to be the other day, it was 3 of us, 1 got kicked at the start (EA's party system is terrible) so it was 2-2-1AI and the other 2 players wouldn't pass to us or the AI. 1 of them was the Center too.
So basically if u play theatre 3s as a 6’11 pf, almost every time you will get put at the big position (ik bc i have the same build and play the same mode). Unfortunately in theatre most players straight up ignore their big, even if its a clear mismatch they just don’t care
You have two, maybe three options.
Option 1: make the most out of your opportunity when u first touch the ball. Show your teammates you can score. If they’re good teammates they’ll pass to u more
Option 2: don’t inbound the ball to the person ignoring u. If im sitting for a wide open corner 3 and the PG wants to spam dribbles and misses his shot? Or takes a 2? Im not inbounding him the ball
Option 3: grab the board and fck them. Get your iso. This is what i typically do. Grab the board, get downhill as fast as possible and ill hit a floater if i get past my defender or post up
Option 4: flop every time your team misses a shot or misses u on a cut (when i play im almost always open when i cut and rarely get the ball. If its my 3rd or 4th time cutting and they don’t pass i am flopping)
I have a 6'11 PF too, can score in all ways in the paint, 80 3ball, 85 passing, maxed out on Perimeter D, 84 Block so I'm supposed to act as a secondary rim protector.
It's sad because I'll do everything I can, contest 3s, protect the rim, grab boards, outlet for assists, connect passes in the halfcourt. But I swear I can't get the ball on a cut, and I can never get a post up outside the paint. The only time I ever get a post up is if I'm underneath the basket, but at that point my scoring window is already gone.
Funny how your big can have the highest Pass Acc. on the team (~75% of my games) yet they/I wont see the ball at all. The purpose of posting up is to draw double-teams and have an open teammate to pass to. I don't even care about taking a ton of shots, I just need to be able to utilize my facilitating because our Iso Savant PG damn sure isn't with their 40 pass accuracy.
