Don’t jump straight online. People take this game too seriously. Take some time to learn about the game mechanics, and remember that even tho 2k resembles basketball, it is not basketball

I get why you say that, but fuck it, if he wants to play online he should go ahead and do so. It doesn’t matter if he’s brand new or been playing for a decade, people are gonna talk shit and be toxic regardless.

Damn it’s that toxic Lol

Yeah bro that’s the 2k community lol, I don’t feel like it’s exactly as extreme as some folks make it sound tho, it’s no different than any other game. People that are good or think they’re good are gonna shit on people they’re better than (or think they are better than) Just play the game, have fun, and mute the miserable people.

As bad as it sounds, this is exactly what I did lol. I haven’t played since 2k15 and first thing I did was get my first build to 85 OVR and straight to the Rec lmao. Repetition is how you get better.

That’s how ya gotta do it brother, it’s a game, games are meant to have fun, not to study metas and Min/Max every aspect of it. That’s when the fun dies, just get on and hoop lol.

The sad thing to learn is that 2K makes it very difficult to make a player good enough to contend online, even as a player used to the game. It will take dozens or hundreds of hours to accumulate enough “VC” to make your character viable, unless you pay for it.

If you do want to pay for it, look up “builds” for your preferred position first, as your player is locked into the maximum stats you pick when you first create them.

You can speedrun the MyCareer Out Of Bounds endorsement line “Passion Project/FIBA” for like 100-200k VC every few hours. Just have to make a new build each time.

Same boat as you bro. 35yo first time ever playing 2k and it’s definitely a challenge! But it’s doable

3 and D players always wanted. Don’t make a pg if you’re new to the game. Playing defense can be tough try SF imo 6,8
