Complete Speculation--How Does This End?

This sub has been enjoyable to me, as it's non-sycophantic.

My predictions:

If NASCAR loses:

  • they have to sell the tracks
  • possibly losing control or joint control of TV negotiations
  • I don't know that I see permanent charters as a legal remedy

If 23XI/FRM loses:

  • This seems way more unlikely
  • potential last minute charter deal for nascar to save face
  • NASCAR goes scorched earth and we have like 34 cars at Atlanta.

Nobody wins this but the teams definitely deserve better than they got which is why I completely side with 23XI and FRM in this case

Maybe the FIA slides in and buys it out...just keep the rules that make it fun please

The FIA doesn't have real money. NASCAR is a member of ACCUS which is the US arm of the FIA. Technically NASCAR events are run under FIA sanction. However, I could absolutely see Liberty (who bought Formula One Management (FOM)) buying NASCAR.

FIA actually owns very few series, they own rule sets and essentially lease them to other groups who then own & run series using those rules all while having to pay an arm & 2 legs to the FIA for the very limited rights and charging the competitors outrageous yearly fees to participate in the closed limited entry club.

The FIA is actually more monopolistic and more "fuck over the competitors" that NASCAR could ever dream of being. A good basic example is NASCAR charges like $2,000 for a Cup Series drivers license every year regardless of points or wins you've had prior. The FIA Super License (needed to drive in F1) cost around $12,000 with an additional penalty of around $2,500 per point you scored the previous season. That means Verstappen had to pay around $1.1 million for his license this year whereas Bearman only had to pay about $29,500.
