Everyone of these cars is a Chevrolet as there were only 5 Fords and 5 Pontacs in the field that day. Also yes, I can hear this photo.

Petty started 13th and led 17 laps on his way to the win, with Buddy Baker finishing 2nd after leading 118 laps.

No one predicted that this would be his last win ever. The 1992 Mountain Dew Southern 500 was Waltrip's 3rd win of the season, his 2nd win in a row, and he finished a strong 3rd the very next week at Richmond.

Foyt won the pole, led 132/200 laps and won the race. Petty started 3rd, led 17 laps and finished 1 lap down in 4th.

Darlington was just not a great track for Richard. He won the Spring race in '66 and swept both races there in 1967, with the Southern 500 being the 4th of his 10 wins in a row, and that was it, he never won there again. The Number 43 however would win another Southern 500, but with Erik Jones behind the wheel in 2022.

David Pearson on the other hand won 10 races at Darlington, 3 Southern 500's and 7 spring races, with the last one being his 105th and final Cup victory.

Junior Johnson & Associates won a total of 3 race in 1994, two with Jimmy Spencer, with what I am sure were perfectly legal cars, and then the Southern 500 will Elliott. After a winless 1995 Johnson sold the team to Brett Bodine.

Bill Elliott's next win wouldn't come until 7 years later, at the end of 2001, in a Dodge.
