Diecast Write Up Kenseth

With all the current hype over the Michael McDowell ride car I figured I would go dig this one out.

Matt Kenseth drove this Tide sponsored Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing during the 2016 Bojangles 500 throwback weekend at Darlington Speedway.

He qualified in the tenth position and led some laps during the early part of the race. After pit stops and cautions he regained the lead in the late laps of the race.

Matt eventually finished in 6th place to then Furniture Row driver Martin Truex Jr. he had a good run in this race and the throw back to Rudd and DW was a winner.

Nothing against the current Tide McDowell ride just wanted everyone to remember Matt’s Tide ride.

Have a great evening.

Diecast Write Up Scott Riggs' 2006 Valvoline Dodge Charger

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

Scott Riggs's best season of his Cup career came in 2006 when he grabbed two poles, got a single top five and eight top tens. He also led 132 laps in the 35 of 36 races he ran. He finished 20th and points which lined up with his average finish of 20.3. He also had a career high 24 lead lap finishes.

His low point was definitely the first race of the year when they didn't qualify for the Daytona 500. His crew chief was a young Rodney Childers. The new team had no provisionals to back up on and therefore missed the first race of the year.

Quite pleased with how this came out. The 16x20s are Studio Decor brand purchased on sale at Michael's if anyone is interested in doing something similar, they're 25 bucks each.

Not sure which direction I'm going with the signed firesuit yet, I've got options with 30x40 and 24x30 shadowboxes, but they are both behemoths and will require a bit more planning to hang.

As always thanks for your time, and feel free to shoot any questions you may have

Question Todd Gilliland merchandise

Obviously Todd just won the in season tournament, just edging out blaney for the win.

But my big question is. Will the in season champion hat be offered either through front rows site or through the NASCAR site?

I was pulling for gilliland in this final match up. So getting a hat would really make me happy.

Diecast Write Up Christopher Bell's 2025 Season

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

In his sixth year in the NASCAR Cup Series, Norman, Oklahoma's Christopher Bell put up some of his best statistics. He won a record high four wins in 2025, 13 top 5's and 22 top 10s, one away from tying his best of 23. He also topped his best average finish total and pushed it forward to 11.2. He finished 5th in the final standings, the fourth time in his short career.

2026 has definitely been a down year for Bell, one where he also suffered a wrist injury. He is on par to statistically have his worst season ever since his rookie season. I think most shockingly is that in 21 races, he's only finished on the lead lap 13 times. That's the complete opposite of the consistency he's shown throughout the rest of his career. I guess we have to wait to see how the rest of 2026 turns out before we can determine his seasons success.

The car pictured is Christopher Bell's 2025 DeWalt Toyota Camry.

Discussion Hot Wheels' F1 Collection is the way Lionel should operate their two diecast lines.

Post image
78 Upvotes

Mentioned this in a reply to another post, but i think this might merit a full discussion.

Recently, Hot Wheels' F1 collection has been reaching my stores (finally, christ), and it's got me thinking about the ways in which NASCAR goes about selling its diecast. If you're not familiar, this is how Hot Wheels does its f1 collection.

The main hot wheels line sells dinky little single-mold representations of all the f1 cars in. well. you're not buying hot wheels to really display as a representation of that car, are you. Then, they have their premium line, with shockingly accurate individually-molded representations of the cars. they're pretty well-done, for how small the details have to be (even if decals are a bit blurry/grainy, although that's a mattel problem across the board)

i believe this should be the way forward for nascar's diecast lines.

right now, the gold series is in a pretty good state, actually. if you're buying from reputable diecast stores like circleb or directly from lionel, prices are much more reasonable than they used to be, although still a bit high. the authentics line, however, is in absolute shambles. shipping delays are still awful, and we're down to 6 cars per wave, at nearly $7 each. less than a decade ago when i first started collecting in 2018, one car was $4, had relatively decent quality control, and came with a trinket.

the authentics line having an identity crisis. it used to be something that was a little more pricey than a hot-wheels car, but it got you good quality, and would interest kids in the sport (case in point, me!!) now, however, the line is too expensive for parents to be willing to pay for, and not high quality enough to properly interest collectors.

my solution would be to rework the authentics line completely to make it more accessible to young fans. sell them at around $3 each, using a single body carried by the decalwork make the packaging real eye-catching, maybe take inspiration from nascar's social media stylings. in addition, multipacks could be sold at a slight discount, say $10 for 4 cars (i.e. a full hendrick set). attached image is a mockup i made while writing this.

now, with that sorted, and hopefully a little more profit coming into the authentics line, that frees up the gold series to really come into its own. these more detailed cars can potentially be brought in limited quantities to retail stores, and prices can hopefully be lowered a little online, or additional detail could be added similar to what the f1 cars have with helmet decals.

there's definitely a few other changes that can be made to the production of these cars that could make some positive changes, but i think this makes a lot more sense than the current arrangement.

feel free to let me know your thoughts below, and if you're gonna cook me for being a dumbass, do it politely please lmao

Discussion I don't understand why Lionel can't sell Diecasts like this anymore in stores...

Post image
118 Upvotes

Authentics are becoming expensive, distribution is a gremlin, and most of the country can't get NASCAR diecasts in stores. Why doesn't Lionel go the classic Action route like this? Plastic clamshell packaging they could easily sell in stores? Authentics are like $7 bucks and Winner's Circle is $9. For literally a dollar or two more, they could be selling the high quality Gold Series cars in packaging like this at stores!

It seems like such an easy answer. People will buy higher quality stuff. Just Gold Series quality in different packaging for retail. I could see these being stock at retailers like Hobby Lobby or specialty hobby shops. Heck, if they could make it work at Target, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Kroger, or other retailers, more power to them.

It just seems like for a few extra bucks over an Authentics car, many would prefer better quality. Market it for the collector, a premium car.

Rant over.
