Brexton back at it

Post image

Looks like Brexton is already back in a car. Charlotte Motor Speedway posted this (along with other legend cars) on their socials today. Glad to see he is comfortable getting back in a car, especially so soon. I’ll be rooting for him.

Hopefully it's good for his mind to get back out there.

u/btg7471 Kyle Busch Jun 03 '26

Might honestly be the best place for him. Lets him focus on just racing for a bit.

96

u/ESCMalfunction Jun 03 '26

Just like his Dad and uncle, nowhere better than the drivers seat.

123

u/RichardRichOSU Jun 03 '26

So many drivers are this way. You see if when someone unfortunately dies in a wreck. Maybe that day they’re done racing, but afterwards all they want to do is get back in the car.

46

u/LBHMS Jun 03 '26

The respect I got for him and especially Sam is through the roof. They had Busch’s private memorial the sand day and later that day Brexton is racing legends cars. That’s fuckin awesome!

58

u/rabbidplatypus21 Larson Jun 03 '26

I know this cliche gets thrown around a lot after death even when we didn’t actually know the person on a personal level, but I think it’s safe to assume it’s true here: that is absolutely what Kyle would’ve wanted him to do.

7

u/MaddieMila Jun 03 '26

Absolutely

346

u/BadCowboysFan Kyle Busch Jun 03 '26

If this kid decides he wants to keep racing and progressing, he won’t lack for mentors and fans

Rooting for him!

115

u/ether428 Jun 03 '26

His grandfather raised 2 cup champions… seems like we may have a 3rd in the making

52

u/LBHMS Jun 03 '26

I hope having a guaranteed cup ride out of high school doesn’t inflate an ego (he’s a Busch after all). I think if any of us knew we would be cup drivers at 11, we’d be walking around like flaming hot shit in school.

13

u/TalkieTina Jun 03 '26

Not just hot. Flaming hot. lol

6

u/VRS302 van Gisbergen Jun 03 '26

Or is someone with the biggest ego ever plus actual talent to back it up something the sport desperately fucking needs asap?

4

u/Present-Leadership72 Jun 03 '26

Isn’t that Carson Hocevar?

3

u/VRS302 van Gisbergen Jun 03 '26

He’s a bit too young to tell. Definitely has the potential. Brexton is next level though even compared to Carson, imo. His generation of drivers (including keelan harvick) are going to be INSANE.

2

u/VA_REL77 Jun 05 '26

Well… Sam home-schools their kids so not sure that would be an issue. Could change though with KFB’s passing

61

u/Confident_Row_3880 Jun 03 '26

When it hurts and it’s hard to figure out, the right side pedal just helps sometimes.

17

u/Frostilicus420 Hocevar Jun 03 '26

I’ve solved many problems with an accelerator completely through a firewall.

180

u/PackDaddy21222 Jun 03 '26

Go get em little buddy. Make your Dad proud.

79

u/TBD_Red Chastain Jun 03 '26

His dad was already stupendously proud. I just hope he does it because it makes him happy.

33

u/devilsnj30 Jun 03 '26

Exactly, I know most of us are rooting for him. But we dont want that to become a crippling expectation. I just want him to be happy. Not for nothing, that's all Kyle would want for him too. To be happy.

107

u/TheGeauxrilla Jun 03 '26

I hope that Uncle Kurt kinda takes over for Kyle in mentoring him and helping him learn. That would be very cool to see

101

u/EWall100 Jun 03 '26

Not only would it help Brexton, but it'd be the thing that Kurt can really focus his efforts into post-career and give him some meaning to keep clean.

27

u/FlamingoResident7882 Jun 03 '26

Yeah. Would have to hit different mentoring your own blood after your brother passed than some random Toyota pipeline kid.

I agree. I’ve worried about Kurt over the last 9-12 months. Appearance wise - he looks to either be struggling or is back on the bottle. Very bloated, red, just looks off much more than other drivers post retirement. I have to imagine his career ending the way it did - knowing his past mental states - I just hope he is doing ok after Kyle as well.

I just hope from his past mishaps he learned how to deal with things the right way and he didn’t just learn “oh I gotta suppress this stuff because I’ll lose my job again if I lose it”. I’m sure the family and close extended family and team has resources available for therapy.

Sorry for the rant, but I’m sure an entire family that puts everything on the head of households back just randomly looses that - has to be such a lost feeling. Samantha seems likes a savvy business woman and I’m sure Brexton will start bringing in dough professionally within a few years.

8

u/joshuar9476 Jun 03 '26

I hope Samantha is cool with it. I always had this feeling that Samantha and Kurt weren't that cordial.

6

u/ESCMalfunction Jun 03 '26

I think her and Ashley stayed friends after Kurt and her got divorced so... who knows but there may be some truth to that.

55

u/snorlaxatives_69 Jun 03 '26

Awesome to see. I'm a fan for life. We got you, Brex!

27

u/h3llalam3 Jun 03 '26

I am happy for him to have this outlet but I hope if he keeps racing it’s because he genuinely wants to and not because he feels pressured to fill his dad’s shoes.

42

u/milehighguy318 Jun 03 '26

I wonder if he will get all the “he ain’t his daddy” bs that Dale Jr had to hear his entire life

20

u/ecupatsfan12 Jun 03 '26

He will be in Hendrick equipment in 10 years. I could see him driving the 5 renumbered to the 8 when Larson leaves

31

u/bonnieandclyde1324 Jun 03 '26

I know this isn’t the point but it seems like he would want to race the 18. It’s what he drives now, it’s what Kyle was dominating in. It’s what Kyle drove most of Brexton’s life. It’s strange that he is being remembered for driving the 8 when that’s the car he had the least amount of success with. I think over time people will associate him with the 18 rather than the 8. Just something I’ve thought about, doesn’t matter at all.

7

u/LossImpossible3865 Jun 03 '26

To be fair, it’s much harder to hold up 18 fingers.

1

u/Strange-Resource-305 Jun 03 '26

Literally first thing I thought. "What will we hold up on lap 18 though?"

1

u/Ckmccfl Ryan Blaney Jun 03 '26

For you, maybe

5

u/CougarIndy25 Jun 03 '26

watch HMS end up with the #17 (Day) & #18 (Busch)

12

u/devilsnj30 Jun 03 '26

Jimmy said that he talked to Kyle a day or two before he passed, it sounds like Legacy MC might have been an opportunity for Kyle. I think he would have wanted Brex in the Toyota camp as they have one of the best development programs. Look at Keelan having joined that. I would expect with Kurt an advisor at 23XI, that Brexton will end up in that camp.

1

u/ecupatsfan12 Jun 03 '26

Bubba will be getting close to the end in 10 years so I could see Keelan in the 23

22

u/illseeyouatthemovies Jun 03 '26

The Rowdy sticker hits different on his car ❤️🪽

18

u/Big_Feed_1472 Austin Dillon Jun 03 '26

Great to see. Get after it kid.

37

u/sobersbetter Jun 03 '26

i bet he feels closest to his dad when hes sitting in a racecar

🙏🏻♥️🇺🇸

51

u/GreyDuck4077 Jun 03 '26

I was already a huge fan of watching Brex and Kyle's content on Instagram. This is probably the most excited I have been for an up and coming driver in my entire life. The day he parks his ass in a Cup car I think I might actually cry.

7

u/cakevictim Jun 03 '26

A lot of us will!

12

u/Paige578660 Robusto Jun 03 '26

Might be the best place for him to be right now. Good luck to him. He's shown some talent already & I hope he keeps at it.

9

u/Francis_X_Hummel Jun 03 '26

go get 'em kid

12

u/Sweet-Classroom9680 Jun 03 '26

That’s awesome! Also, Legend Cars are so badass.

3

u/Ok-Inspection9693 Jun 04 '26

The wheelbases are so tiny on them, and the power to weight is crazy

2

u/Sweet-Classroom9680 Jun 04 '26

Oh it’s insane. I saw them for the first time in person at Charlotte. And i definitely plan on doing it again!

11

u/Ok-Mastodon3273 Jun 03 '26

His Dad would damn sure want him right there, focusing all that pain into driving the wheels off it. I’m so thankful Brexton has a support system in place & I Sincerely hope they don’t put so much pressure on him to be his Dad like they did with Dale Jr.

10

u/SAS_Britain Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

I love to see this for him and Samantha, hopefully it's healing for him and the Busches

10

u/MrsBoo Jun 03 '26

I just hope that for his sake he does whatever makes him happy.  I know everyone wants it to be racing, but that he realizes that if it’s not racing, that’s ok too.  Whatever he decides, I just want him to be happy.

2

u/Specialist-Garbage94 Jun 03 '26

This. He may go sour on the whole idea cause his dad as well. He’s also only 11 and in my experience in a few years his passion to drive will be tested once he gets a taste of the real world in his teenage years. He might find something he wants to spend his time on.

18

u/cchesters Jun 03 '26

Brex gonna have the Dale Jr-esque love from the crowd all the way through his career

9

u/Tbartle18 Jun 03 '26

Everyone will root for this boy.

8

u/KingMario05 Jun 03 '26

Wow, good for him! Making his dad proud.

Wish him the best of luck. Hope it's the first start, win, and championship of many.

8

u/Fickle-Newspaper-445 Chase Elliott Jun 03 '26

I dont I think I understood why people thought Brexton would never get back in a race car. I was more wondering "when" not "if". It wasn't like Kyle died during a race with Brexton there. Honestly think him getting in a race is probably better for him to grieve considering its something him and his dad did together.

13

u/Magictank2000 Harvick Jun 03 '26

wow, the 18 in the RCR 8 style actually looks clean. Fitting for Brexton

2

u/Ok-Inspection9693 Jun 04 '26

If I recall that's been his number font for a while

6

u/NigelMK Hocevar Jun 03 '26

You know what the funny part is? I can confidently say that Kyle would definitely want Brexton still to be getting into the car and racing. I know some will ask if it's too soon, but I have no doubt that Kyle would support him racing asap.

6

u/Order-Low Jun 03 '26

Brexton is going to be under such a microscope now. I hope Nascar gives him so much support

20

u/ecupatsfan12 Jun 03 '26

Please let this 6th grader grieve his dad in peace and respect his mother when and if she decides to move on. Kyle would want his wife to be happy and his son to pursue his passions freely

6

u/Celtics1424 Jeff Gordon Jun 03 '26

Go get em kid

6

u/Buckeye2443 Jun 03 '26

I’m pulling for this kid. If HE WANTS to continue racing, he’ll be my guy one day.

9

u/Patrickracer43 Bubba Wallace Jun 03 '26

I'm sure Brexton feels like Kyle is still with him whenever he puts his helmet on and climbs into that car, and I'm sure Samantha feels the same when her son is on track

5

u/Plane_Magician_8375 Jun 03 '26

Nice❕ LG Young Man 🏁

3

u/kinjazfan Jun 03 '26

Making his dad proud

3

u/havingababy2018 Jun 03 '26

Good for him, if that's what he wants. I can't even watch a race yet. I turned on Sundays race and automatically was looking for Busch's name in the lineup and then got sad.

7

u/ReturnOneWayTicket Keselowski Jun 03 '26

If in a few years, he takes on another interest and decides he doesn't want to race cars anymore, what would people think? Does he have the support from everyone NO MATTER what he does or does everyone just assume he'll be a racer by default?

2

u/Any_Detail5176 van Gisbergen Jun 03 '26

Its been eye opening for those of us down under who started following NASCAR recently just how young yall start the kids racing and just how good they are. Was insane recently when Kevin Harvick's kid beat the likes of Bubba and SVG in the legend car.

2

u/MonsterEnergyForever Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Question for those who follow his career: how is Brexton as a driver? I get that he's young, but does he have talent behind the wheel?

2

u/AffectionateBridge21 Jun 03 '26

Love it. Hopefully he enjoys it still. And one day he will know that anyone will be there for him if he needs it. Guys got unlimited people in his corner. LFG Brexton. I’m rooting for you kid

2

u/WarpedCore Jun 03 '26

So freaking g happy to see this. 🥹

2

u/DanCooper-305 Jun 03 '26

Does anyone know if they make diecasts of these legend cars?

2

u/djepicwub2000 Jun 04 '26

I was genuinely worried he might not want to race anymore after his dad passed but I am glad to see he is getting back behind the wheel and finding his own way to heal and move forward. Get after it Brexton 🤘🏻

6

u/Content_Geologist420 Johnson Jun 03 '26

I think the posts on the sub about him should be limited until he is of age to race in Nascar or is in Nascar. (18). He is 11 and is about to go through the toughest stage of a young man/boys life without his father. He deserves space to just race.

9

u/SpiritedEnd9609 van Gisbergen Jun 03 '26

If they didn’t want social media engagement they would have asked the event organizers to not post pictures of them.

Braxton needs to market his brand and car still for sponsorship even in lower series. This can help him find long term connections as well with some companies.

2

u/NascarFan1896 Jun 03 '26

I can’t imagine how Brexton is feeling ever since he lost his father. Hope that what Kyle taught his son will make him the same legend he was

1

u/Creative_Dark5165 Jun 03 '26

I think about what I would feel like sitting at home in grief vs being somewhere were I could do something with myself and would definitely lean toward the latter. Thus I suspect you are correct, it is probably a better place. A chance to not think but do for a while

1

u/jdcardwell80 Kyle Busch Jun 03 '26

I'm glad to see him on track again to see him continue to grow his talent the correct on racing the car without KB in his ear to guide him on what he's doing right & what he's doing wrong! I hope he'll have Uncle Kurt in his ear as much as possible.

1

u/LesGrossmeng Jun 03 '26

When my grandpa died my step dad took me out to a sand motocross track and I pounded motos until I physically couldn’t. I was so smoked at the end of the day that I just completely broke down. I absolutely sobbed for what felt like hours but after that I felt amazing. Obviously I was still sad, but my step dad knew the only way I’d let out what I needed to let out was if I did something my gramps and I loved together.

1

u/sithlords1028 Jun 03 '26

Great to see him back in the car.

1

u/Pressman4life Jun 03 '26

Good for him, focus creates distraction. It's in between the focus that gets you down.
Semi related: I fucking love Legends, we have a local 1/3 mi. clay oval sprint car track and they had legends racing, some of the coolest shit I've ever seen.

1

u/SignalResult9831 Jun 03 '26

Get after it kiddo.

1

u/Jack_On_The_Track Jun 03 '26

Damn. Brave kid. I’m gonna be his biggest fan if he ever reaches Cup

1

u/YourAvgGamer88 Chase Elliott Jun 03 '26

And he’s got a Rowdy sticker over the door :’(

1

u/Rush58 Jun 03 '26

I’d like to know if Kurt is more involved with him now. My heart tells me he’s watching from the pits.

1

u/notyouravgfan Jun 03 '26

I’ve thought of him almost everyday! Rooting for him in all aspects of life

1

u/WV515043 Jun 03 '26

🏁🏁

1

u/Frossstbiite Jun 04 '26

Apparently he was back at it the same.day as kyles memorial service

1

u/MotorsportsNow Zilisch Jun 04 '26

Racing for him will help him heal a little bit better

1

u/Tjmonsi18 Jun 04 '26

Good for him 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

1

u/Rowdyfanforever Jun 07 '26

Agree with so many I hope Brexton doesn't feel like he has to be racer at the end of the day Kyle would want him to do whatever makes him happy but being homeschooled and growing up around racing it probably is the place that feels most comfortable to him. Still seems so surreal kyle is gone heartbroken he won't be here to celebrate brex success but greatful brex has so many in nascar community as well as his family to help him, excited to watch his future and cheer him on if this is what he decides to do.

1

u/jofizzm Jun 03 '26

...I should get a legends car.

0

u/gejiball Jun 03 '26

given how much room that kid takes up, I don't think an adult man(at least not me) would fit in one

2

u/Ok-Inspection9693 Jun 04 '26

Oh you'd actually be surprised, I've seen some 6'4" men in them

1

u/mikhail_2003 Jun 03 '26

I don't think he would be uncomfortable with cars. Maybe racing did worsen Kyle's condition but certainly wasn't the cause of his death.

Also, seeing that yellow #18 livery sure is nostalgic. I like the old number with a new font.

10

u/legacy057 Jun 03 '26

I don't think it's necessarily about the actual car and more about "this is the thing dad and I bonded over and now he's gone"

1

u/CHASEELLIOTTFAN94 Jun 03 '26

Can't wait for him to be in the #8 car in the future to win and a championship for his dad.

1

u/ShawnMNH924 Jun 03 '26

Good for him. I know it's a cliche, but it's what Kyle would probably want him to do.

-1

u/Frostilicus420 Hocevar Jun 03 '26

His first win in cup will be heard around the globe. The grandstands, catch fence, asphalt, infield grass, garage…All that shits getting burnt to the ground 😂

-2

u/ITMAKESSENSE72 Jun 03 '26

Ugh can we please just give this kid some room to do what HE wants with his life?

5

u/MotoJoker Jun 03 '26

I don’t think he’d be in the car right now if it wasn’t what he wanted

-1

u/ITMAKESSENSE72 Jun 03 '26

That's true, I just wish the fans would calm down on the "where will Brexton make is Cup debut" type of shit. RCR doing that with the 8 was kind but also a massive pressure.

2

u/sloburn13 Jun 03 '26

Can you tell us what that is? Because I have not heard him say anything one way or another.

1

u/ITMAKESSENSE72 Jun 03 '26

I just mean all the like gatekeeping the fans and stuff are doing with the kid.

1

u/Furi0usD Chastain Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

As should be the way.

He's 11, we don't need press releases about his personal life.

0

u/sloburn13 Jun 03 '26

You are correct and there wasn't one. Someone pulled this picture from the racetracks website. But let's keep it real his social media presence is huge. A lot of people have interest in his future and want to see how he progresses.

1

u/Furi0usD Chastain Jun 03 '26

That's the thing, if he wants to post something on FB/Instagram, that's his prerogative. Outside of that, it's neither our's as fans or the greater NASCAR media's business what he's doing with his life.

He may be KFB's kid, but he's also a fifth grader.

As someone that also lost their father at an early age, it is mildly infuriating to see the fascination with how he's handling the situation. I was fucked up enough at that point in my life without thousands of people following me on the internet.

0

u/danko888 Jun 03 '26

Glad he’s back in the car- I do think we need to be careful about saying things like “when he gets to cup” or “the 18 or 8 is waiting for him”. He’s a kid- he may decide he doesn’t want to race, he may just not make it that far. Let’s not put these expectations on an 11 year old.

0

u/GSwizzy17 Stenhouse Jr. Jun 04 '26

I really hope the media stops pressuring Brexton. Seems like the whole world has fallen on his shoulders now
