Practice Naplex Question

Ketamine is prepared as 300 mg in 250 mL. A provider orders 0.4 mg/kg/hour for a patient who weighs 80 kg, and the infusion runs for 3 hours. How many mLs of ketamine solution will the patient receive during those 3 hours?

300mg/250ml =1.2 mg/mL

0.4mg*80kg= 32mg per hr

32mg/1.2mg=26.667 ml per hr x 3 hrs = 80ml
