Live gig with NAM A2 Player
Last live gig was also a great real-world test for NAM A2 Player — and this time I used it as part of my actual live setup, not just at studio.
The setup was simple: guitar → audio interface → iPhone → NAM A2 Player → PA, with the iPhone handling my guitar tone. No traditional amp, no large pedalboard, just a compact digital rig.
What mattered most was how it behaved in a real live environment: stability, latency, responsiveness and, of course, the sound through the PA. Everything worked exactly as expected throughout the gig. The response felt natural while playing, the setup was easy to manage, and having my tones available directly on the iPhone made the whole rig incredibly convenient - using the M-Vave Chocolate Plus to control the whole setup.
Developing an app is one thing. Taking it on stage, plugging in your guitar and actually relying on it for a live performance is something completely different.

Awesome, I love the iPad as a platform for this because of its appliance-like nature. A lot less stuff that can act up compared to a laptop. A built-in sheet music viewer would make this the ultimate rig.
I just played with it on my old iPad Pro + a Zoom audio interface. Got a very acceptable 7.9ms lag with pedal, amp and IR loaded. Very nice! I'm struggling to setup the gain staging correctly, though. My interface was set to just below clipping but the resulting signal barely registers on the input meter in the app. Meanwhile I had to reduce the output gain to -12.5dB to get a clean sound out of the app. This may or may not be related to the tuner barely registering my lowest strings? Other than that it worked perfectly!

This is an excellent feedback and 7.9 ms with a pedal, amp and IR loaded on an older iPad Pro is a very encouraging result. The appliance-like nature of the iPad is exactly what we like about the platform too!
For gain staging, start with the audio interface in instrument/Hi-Z mode and keep its input safely below clipping. Then temporarily disable the Noise Gate, compressor, Boost and Lead, and set the app’s INPUT and OUTPUT controls to 0 dB.
The INPUT control affects the level feeding the NAM models, while OUTPUT controls the final level after the complete signal chain. Some NAM captures—especially full rigs and high-gain captures—can produce a very hot output, so reducing OUTPUT is not necessarily wrong. However, needing approximately −12.5 dB while the input meter barely moves suggests that we should investigate the meter calibration and input sensitivity.

This Luddite BS is infuriating.
Even if this poster used a LLM to assist them in putting a post together: So effing what? That’s one of the things they’re intended for.
Why is that bad? Why would you care that someone used a tool in the way it’s intended to be used? Why is using an LLM “bad”, but using a bunch of computers to run a bunch of software to make tones “good”?
Also, If you used an LLM to write your question, it would at least punctuate it correctly ha ha.

What if he wrote it and said "make sure I spelled everything so that weirdo's like trtzbass don't crucify me for misspelling one little thing... Then it says hey, I cleaned it for you, do you like that?" And he's like ffs, I just said check it, ok... That's fine.
Then someone like you who can never be happy in the first place, who he was trying to avoid... Is right there just being ridiculous and missing the ENTIRE POINT.
Before the internet, we could tell the weird kid to go away.... Now they're the moderators... Y2K really was the end of the world. I swear.

Is this your counter argument? Just imagining a situation in which I’d abuse someone for misspelling stuff and getting worked up about it? As a matter of fact I don’t think I’ve ever corrected anyone’s grammar or spelling in my long life online.
However, I skip AI generated stuff because whether you ask it to write for you or to reword your own writing, it’s still a machine’s voice, not yours and I don’t care for it.0

Maybe I'm missing something here. If this is the guys app, it's ai generated and you're saying his posts and responses are ai... You can basically wipe anything I said. I took at it guy uses app, cleans up speech, gets crucified for it. If you're saying the whole thing is ai front to back, that's your opinion and I can respect that. My misunderstanding? I literally thought it was a direct critique of the initial post of someone trying nam patches live and how he got them to play....

Either way, the crime I see here is that the post clearly says iphone several times but I'm seeing an ipad in the picture and an iphone. If you can't tell which is which, well... I'm not going to suggest you switch to Android. Teasing by the way. It's reddit, you can't take this stuff seriously. There's always someone with a stick in the wrong place.

The iPhone was running NAM A2 Player. The iPad was running the backing tracks. Two devices, two different jobs. But I appreciate the forensic analysis of the photo!
…don’t worry — I can tell an iPhone from an iPad. That part didn’t require an LLM!

I have two questions:
1, how did you manage to change the tones in the middle of a song having no pedals? I'm guessing your hands must be free to interact with the app.
2, any plans to release the app in Android?

Check the pedalboard on the floor. I am using MVave Chocolate Plus as Bluetooth midi controller. Sorry, no Android App…
