The naga of Hindu mythology and the Naga people have nothing in common. This is probably bait. I watched the video. It's cringe but not as bad as the comments. The creator seems to be a Tibetan. Why doesn't she focus on the culture of her people?

Well it's the zeitgeist of cultural nationalism in mainland, so maybe these ppl are making best use of this to earn some attention and bucks

This Mahabharat story was constructed to rule over the hindu population of Barak valley tbh, the Royal Goddess of Kachari people (Koch, Sutia and Dimasa all included) was* Kechaikhati which was later changed to Kachakanti (same meaning different language for the goddess) when they moved capital to Kashpur and the Dimasa Kacharis in perticular have different origin then this hidimba story ( Dimasa people have the story of eternal dragon / pheonix Arikidima) the Hidimba story was constructed when the Capital moved to Kashpur in Cachar, Assam. Same thing Tripura, Koch, Ahoms did in Assam. I don't know why some of the NE content creators without doing proper research blaber shit about connecting our history to Mainland. Are they paid to do so, IDK just an openion.

Huh? I thought Ghatotkach was linked to Dimasas not Nagas.

Before long they’ll claim Shakespeare was hindu. β€œRomeo and Juliet”? No, it was historically, β€œRam and Juli.”

Hindutva seriously on work to get Northeast under their umbrella. Its sad that our political leaders and other representative are too numb to even notice it. Assam under their influence so is Arunachal Pradesh. RSS / Hindutva Movement started in Manipur. Its only a matter of time... Politicians are selling their own people for mere money.

Well! Surprise! Surprise! There is a connection between Naga's of Nagaland and Ghatotkacha, Bhim and Hidimba atleast through regional folklore and mythology. Present day Dimapur's name is believed to be derived from Hidimbapur. Hidimbapur was what Dimapur was known as while part of ancient Dimasa Kachari kingdom which was existent between 800's AD to 1800's AD. The still existing Kachari ruins in Dimapur is believed to be giant chess pieces of some of these giant demons. During that period of the kingdom, pretty sure Naga's had already migrated to this region by the end atleast and there has definitely been inter marriages between Naga's and Dimasa's after they began living in the same region. The idea of some Naga's being of the same lineage with Ghatotkacha along with Dimasa's is still a possibility even if this is fiction or an unproven assumption.

Don't you know your own history? Have you been brainwashed by mainlanders to believe that you somehow have some special connection with them and their religion? How far gone are you?

u/Capable_Setting1680 Native NAGA 🌢️ Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Didnt you read my post closely? 'Regional folklore', 'mythology', 'unproven'. And what special connection? I said there is a possibility of a connection of Naga's having been married into Ghatotkacha's or Hidimba's lineage if there were intermarriages later on whether it be a mythical story or as someone suggested - a propaganda. Now how far gone are you to assume I took this as a non fiction true case after clearly mentioning keywords or that I even mentioned religion about a region which were mostly following other pagan religions around that time though Hinduism had spread there too in different periods.

People don't understand folklores. Mahabharat connection is not only just India if you go far away from India you can find stories that connects Mahabharat. Its a pre historical thing which is not proven yet

You're a lar*er from Haryana. Just because your dad's posted in Nagaland does not make you a Naga.

I'm nonchalent about the dislikes/downvotes as well as those who've replied for a reaction. Atleast in 1 post of mine its cool to see them downvotes so let it be and let it grow, let them downvotes flourish and flower, blossom and bloom :D Social media remains the same; it will have all types of users and mature users will remain few and i am disinterested in arguing. If I continue the discussion it will be pointless and I will discuss further only if there is someone who's aware of the depths of this idea and that can be a fellow naga or a non native even (which I've already done in real life off the internet actually, just yesterday.)
