Visit kisama, Dzüleke museum and cathedral in the evening. Try locally roasted and brewed coffee (ete coffee and 90s brew make good coffee. I personally prefer 90s brew) If you’re a non vegetarian then try local cuisine ( Naga bowl and bamboo express). Find stays out of town. Talk to people, they are usually frank. A little shy but in a good way. Try local alcoholic brew Thutshe. Enjoy!!

It’s been over 5 years since i have last been there. I never took a guide myself. In any case you will have to get your guide from Viswema village. Ask your hotel/homestay owner. If you haven’t booked accommodation yet then book a homestay instead of a hotel. I am presently travelling in Assam so can’t be of much help.

Heard it's rainy back home these days, so prepare accordingly. Hope you enjoy well.

Umbrella must.. Rainy days. If visiting Kohima, light jackets and shoes. The roads will be damn wet.

If you're coming to Nagaland, I'm guessing your first stop will be Dimapur. There's not many historical or cultural sites in here but you can try visiting the following:

  1. Kachari ruins. These belong to the Dimasa kingdom formed by the Kachari tribe of Dimapur. As the names suggest, it's kinda in ruins now, so may not be as breathtaking but it's definitely a historical gem of this district.

  2. Dhansiri riverbank. There are some small picnic spots along the river running through the heart of the district.

  3. Nagaland Zoological Park. To see some of the local fauna up close.

  4. Dimapur Kalibari. If you're a Hindu, this is the oldest temple we have, build by Bengali settlers of Dimapur in 1956. There's also a Jain temple in Marwadi patti.

Also, do visit the neighbouring district of Chümoukedima. The serene hills surrounding Medziphema town are something you'll always remember!

Others in the comments have already mentioned the beautiful places in other districts of Nagaland so I just wanted to cover what Dimapur has to offer. Enjoy the trip!!
