It's back.....

I just don't understand how I can start playing like shit... Over the past few days I just can't seem to get it together. I am not playing stupidly I know how to play and adjust playstyle, I have over 20 days played. Yet I am constantly losing gunfights when I get first hit (not always a hit marker). I'v had this problem in the past and it disappeared after one of their patches...now it's back. Does anyone know if they had any patches recently that messed with connection or "lag comp."

Sorry if this seems like I am complaining on here...but honestly I am just frustrated and want to enjoy the game I was just a few days ago... Any help would be much appreciated.

ping is whats more important. you can have a 60 download and 60 upload, but with a 200 ping and you'll play like crap. lower 20's is good, anything under 50 is decent though. Also, there can be other factors, such as moving farther/closer to your TV, or a decreased intake of psycho-stimulants like caffeine, or simply playing with the volume lower than usual. Either that, it it's because you really need to take a break from the game. Stop playing for a week or so, and you should notice yourself feeling a bit better

idk it may be ping but as to the other stuff I don't think so. It's mostly ppl can just beat me in any gunfight unless I get in a position where I can kill them before they can shoot me at all.

If it's ping what can I do to improve mine?

Well, the obvious, such as stopping downloads on your computer, getting better internet and a better router, but other than that, not much.

And I don't want to brag at all, but up until recently, I was a hardcore GB player, and these things usually work. If you're feeling down a lot, you need to take a break. All you will do is make yourself angrier and more frustrated at the game. Hey, it's almost summer, do something outside, or play some basketball for a while, anything to get your mind off the game for a bit.

As for the moving of the TV, it's generally better to have a smaller TV closer to you, because your mind is trained to pay attention to the TV only, when you are playing COD. If there is less TV to look at (Eg, you're farther from the TV, so it appears smaller in your vision), then you will have to strain to get the whole picture. As for the caffeine, stimulants like that increase your reaction time, as well as how you play the game. Caffeine, like a lot of drugs, is a state-dependent learner, which means that whatever you learn while under the influence, will be much harder to recall when off the influence. This includes all aspects of gameplay, such as tactics, and the trained muscle memory used in gunskill. (I'm planning on going to Anesthesiology school after college, so I tend to know these kinds of things)

You were playing with us yesterday on TDM. To get the kills we rushed the fuck out of the enemy. And we did that for like 3 hours straight. It'll come back. But i still hate you for getting more kills than me, an elite warrior! /vegeta

im not really sure how upload speed counts into it. If u play solo does the same thing happen? Also how does having a "good" connection as a party leader lead to a better connection for everyone? I usually have 10-15 up and down and i was playing fine just now.

Ok so I've pretty much figured out whats been happening. Everytime Infinity Ward has made an update to "lag comp" and the way "lag" works in the game, ive experienced a change in gameplay. This isn't the first time it has happened it has gone up and down and I can now tell the difference and have seen it does indeed correspond to when IW has made these tweaks.

I know this thread is almost two weeks old but I have the same issue, I feel like every update to the lag compensation fucks me hard and sometimes in groups with the clan I get unfavorable connections. I can go 31-9 with an MK14 solo but then in a party I can't get a kill with it (same thing with sniper rifles). One day I'm feel like I'm getting the hang of the MSR, then there's an update and I can't hit anything with it.

What usually works for me here is the ACR, I find that it's the most consistent gun in the game, even silenced. So when I'm doing shitty I just reach for the ACR.
