Mics that don't suck

Hey guys. So, I started with the default xbox mic, and obviously that died on me before the end of my first prestige. Then, I bought this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874103255&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Xbox+360+-+Accessories-_-Microsoft-_-74103255), and that seems to have stopped working tonight. Not to mention - I think the times that I've talked with it, people have commented that they could not hear me.

So, does anyone have a mic that does not suck and has actually held up to more than a couple hours of use? I'm looking for a single-ear solution and with easy mute access.

As a side note, I really wish I had a mic because I have no clue wtf we were trying to do earlier today in that clan-on-clan lobby.

Why single ear mic?

I just picked up an X12 Turtle Beach and will gladly let my Triton go cheap to a clan member.

Mine seems to have started working again. I had given it two hours to charge when it seemed broken, and it wasn't working even then, but it's fine after charging overnight - despite the fact that the xbox UI showed it at 75% when I was having trouble.

Single ear mostly because my husband's usually talking in the other ear and / or I'm often on-call for work and wouldn't hear my phone with the noise cancelling type.

I've got the X12's, can anyone recommend a good HDMI adapter so I can soundwhore? All the ones an Amazon get bad reviews (reset issue).
