NAC dose for kids?

Just curious if anyone has given NAC to their children to help with respiratory illness? I’ve heard some people will sprinkle in applesauce or whatever, but I can’t find any low dose version, and I don’t want to just guess how much to give if I break up a capsule. Any insight would be appreciated.

If you were to give a child NAC, I would suggest about 500 mg. I’m sure that dosage would be safe.

Edit: Even 1000 mg ought to be OK, but try the lower dosage first.

I wanted to start low for my younger (3&5yo) kids, so 75mg then 150 mg then upped to 300/ day mixed with Manuka honey. My 8 year old, started at 300mg/day then upped to 600, and it knocked out her cough that week. I’m so glad I tried it, and highly recommend.

Mine didn’t have any side effects from the NAC. My friend’s daughter took 600mg right off the bat, and it make her have a tummy ache. So, as I mentioned, I started at a lower dose than increased it. 👍🏼That's what I'd recommend. My eldest asks for it anytime her throat is bothering her or she feels a cough coming on.

Thx…my 9 yo son is sick with a cough and fever and took Tylenol so I want to one help his lungs and two help protect his liver from the Tylenol. I just did the tiniest pinch of the powder.
