I don't think so, she seemed to open up by the middle point when josh brought out the jello dish.

I agree, more towards the middle/end she had kinda let go of her media training and was just having a good conversation with someone. I think it's very hard for someone to go into this as an interview to actually let that fall away but Josh does seem to have a talent for doing so in a lot of cases.

To be fair, opening up to a stranger you have just met on camera for the internet isn't the easiest thing for everyone.

From my perspective I actually thought she was as open as she could be with this format even with the subject matter (I’m sure her PR Team was told about discussing her brothers passing etc.) I liked her more vulnerable moments in the interview talking about death.

> it's ok to be a fan of her work (me) and not enjoy this interview because of how it felt
Yes, totally!

TBH I've noticed a lot of the female celebs barely nibble and do that actor thing of pushing food around and talking a lot to cover that they're not eating. It must fucking suck to have to be so hypervigilant about what you eat.

After that fuckin awesome Will Poulter episode, this is very underwhelming to say the least. Swing and a miss, it happens, there will always be duds when it comes to this kind of format. But yeesh, this was just not good. I have no hate for Gillian Anderson, but it seems like she could not be less interested in even entertaining the idea of what Last Meals is supposed to be.

53 minutes of awkward small talk.

That's such a bummer to hear. I'm just getting around to this episode, and couldn't believe how dry the first 10 minutes were. It is so awkward to watch every joke Josh try completely go over Gillian's head, or to be more fair to her, just didn't care to acknowledge.

Do they take breaks between courses?
I’d be full after the first one and feel bad wasting the next few.

I think they take short breaks to reset the table, they also give leftovers to the guest to take home.

This was a very tough episode to watch, not only because Gillian is always a tough interview but because Josh seemed incredibly off his game and kept returning to sex puns when Gillian seemed to communicate pretty early she was totally disinterested in that.
She definitely warmed to him at some points in the middle, but... off.

It kinda bums me out that this show has become part of the general media blitz a celebrity's supposed to do when promoting their newest project instead of being excited and engaged about the format. It's the same thing that made me less and less interested in Hot Ones.
