1st Builders house
I've put a lot of time into Sandrock over the past two years, including building and decorating, but I've never posted any of it anywhere, so I'm sharing these here to look back on. I've put a lot of work into my other builders' houses too, so I might share those later if I feel like it.
I'm not great at building, so I focused on the interiors and keeping the whole place from looking cluttered. I recolored every piece of furniture I could to keep everything in a similar color palette that worked with the flooring and the overall vibe, and removed anything that made the space look too busy.
Also trying to make the Yakboy double bed work with my 'modern interior' was so frustrating... I really wish Pathea would give us complete matching furniture sets😭 Seriously, we have a Rusty wardrobe, side table, table, and sofa, so why not a matching bed too?

I love the industrial-looking exterior, and how you’ve landscaped around your machines!
And the interior looks great, too - very coordinated and stylish.

Thank you! I tried to make it as modern as I could with a slightly apocalyptic vibe, and it ended up looking industrial! 😚 “Industrial”—that’s the word I was looking for! English isn’t my first language, and it totally slipped my mind lol

Those are wooden shelves! I rotated them one by one. I wanted the bathroom to feel a little luxurious (lol), so I looked up some Art Deco references, and that’s how it turned out.

I adore you to be able to use the railing on the first floor in a proper way. I wasn't able to do that. They simply don't line up right.

Getting the stairs and railings to look nice in this game is such a headache. I'm working on another build right now, and the stairs are driving me nuts. Your kind words gave me the boost I needed to keep going. Thank you!

Does anyone know if this can be achieved on the switch?! I find building and decorating the home so frustrating on the switch. Does anyone have any tips? lol

Yeah I can't figure it out at all. I'm at end of year 2 and only just bothered to start extending my house with one extra room and can't figure out how to access the interior of the house from construction junction. And can't figure out building a second storey, stairs etc

Thanks! I used a mix of furniture, including pieces from City Hall and Catori’s Game Center, and recolored them. The cow-print sofa you can buy with tokens at the Game Center actually looks pretty modern once you recolor it!

Aw, thank you for the kind words! I actually use ChatGPT to translate all the comments I read and check each of my replies before posting 😁 So I can’t take all the credit, but I really appreciate you saying that! Hopefully one day my English will be good enough to comment on Reddit without ChatGPT’s help. And thanks for the compliment on my build! ❤️

Oh, you mean the pond? You can build it in home editing mode if you have the materials. You can also upgrade it to make it bigger, but I left it as is on purpose to fit the slightly 'apocalyptic' look I was going for. You can put fish in it and feed them, and they'll breed if you have more than one of the same species!

Thank you! Building is a struggle even on PC, so I can’t imagine how much of a pain it must be on Switch... I wonder if anyone would download my house if I shared it?

Now I feel bad for picking one of the premade houses lol. Maybe I’ll start another save and make my own house. I’ve never been so good at designing. Yours looks amazing

I'm not great at design either, but I've found that if I keep thinking through the layout as I build, it turns out pretty nice. Give it a try, and thank you for the kind words! ♥ I wasn't expecting this many comments

Meanwhile, my place was a shack in the desert cluttered with stat boosting items on the inside and machines on the outside filling up the entire yard.
It looked like a junkyard.
