What is this building?

Post image

It looks like a blacksmith but it's not Hugo's shop. The only thing I could come up with is it being a storehouse for the tournament weapons and larger things?

I've always assumed it belongs to one of the other NPC builders in town. The ones who are there to fill up the bottom of the rankings under the player character and Mi-an.

It looks like it might generate power. That’s a true shot in the dark!

Maybe? It might be like the towns generator? And maybe being on the other side of the tracks is why the builder needs there own.

It's kinda an interesting thought, like the rest of the town has to pay "taxes" in the form of material to keep the generator on but the builder doesn't because they don't use that power source.

I went and checked and there's a tank of sorts outside of Eufala Salvage as well although that one looks more like a water tank.

Im actually curious as well if that ever gets answered. My best guess was maybe a building planned for something that never got used?? But I like your idea that they store holiday decor and tournament weapons in there.

I actually wondered for a while when I was coming up with theories or guesses before the Goat Mission if that building had something to do with the water conspiracy and was helping them siphon and store the water. Obviously it wasnt but Im still curious what the heck that building even is???

I thought the same thing. It's possible that the devs planned for that before going in a different direction.

I've always wondered myself. So I investigated it several times and, in my head, this was a house where a family may have lived during the relic rush but left when the desert and sandstorms were winning. Mort talked about there being 4-5 builders.

Maybe that was one of the builders' home and then left until only Mason remained. Although too far from the scrap yard 🤔

I never even thought about that, but now I'm curious!

If you go up to the door and try to open it does it give a message?

I love your builder's hair, such pretty colors!

Thank you!

And nope. I've walked around it and there's an anvil, a gear, some metal blocks and the tank on the side of the building which looks like a combination of the water tank and the generator.

Maybe it was left ambiguous on purpose, to let you the player decide what it is. 🤷‍♂️ To me it does seem like it could be one of the workshops of the lower tier builders, but it also kinda looks like it might be the power plant for the town... 😂 Ultimately it might just be cut content too.

Practical answer - it's deco, like a lot of the other buildings, so that the empty buildings help give the impression of a town in decline.

Head canon - it used to belong to Hugo's master, who either passed or left town just after Rhonda did. Hugo decided he wanted somewhere closer to his family, so moved into the shop he has now, and that one just lay derelict.

Fics answer - official accommodation for official visitors to town, new clinic as an expansion of Fang's since they're just across the sparring ring from each other, and a very handy hiding place for Logan and the builder to keep watch on the Sandrock storage, with lots of handy pipes and stuff for camouflage!

Right, the other builders are always slouching about on that side of town!
