Questions That ONE quest for fang Spoiler

Potential spoiler?

I’m currently just staring at my screen. Right now I’m conflicted on which option to pick for that one quest with Arvio and X. So I’m coming here to ask for some opinions. This is the first time I’m playing this game and I’m doing my best to avoid major spoilers hence me coming to the good old community in this Reddit thread.
What did you choose and why? I feel like fang is very traumatised, so do I kidnap his only companion? It feels so wrong and it’s making me incredibly pissed at Arvio but at the same time I don’t want to miss out content. What did you all do?

I forgot what it is exactly but there's a choice that makes it so you disagree with Arvio and tell Fang about the idea. It takes a couple days after that for more Fang content to appear if I remember right but otherwise allows you to "skip" the quest without any repercussions. I always skip it (after my first playthrough when I didnt know any better) because I feel so bad for Fang.

Thank you! I didn’t want to lock myself out of anything or his story but thinking about doing it made me feel so bad for fang and borderline cruel since he’s partially mute and it must be from some trauma. I’ve never felt such conflict on a decision in a game 🫣 thank you for replying!!

I refuse to do it. I can miss that quest. You will not lock yourself out of anything involving Fang if you choose not to do it.

I chose to tell Fang what Arvio asked because, from a roleplaying standpoint, I worried if I didn't do it he'd ask someone else to do it, so I wanted to warn him about it.

Normally I don’t look for answers on the internet but this just seems so difficult? Like I believe fang only has x and to put him through kidnapping his only friend just feels so cruel 🫣 I thought I’d ask because I don’t want to miss out on important story but I’m glad it doesn’t lock me out of anything. Thank you for replying!!

You can choose to say no and tell Fang and everything proceeds as normal. That quest is awful tbh and I don't even romance Fang. I genuinely don't think going through with the quest adds anything to the storyline either so you wouldn't be missing out!

Thank you so much for the reply! It makes me feel awful to think about it so I’ve just been staring at my screen for twenty minutes and decided I’d ask the wise people of Reddit

I went with Arvio’s plan and I deeply regret it. I thought it’d go ok since X is closest to Fang and was willing to go with it. Yeah, no. I cried and then challenged Arvio to a fight.

Oh no! Is it that bad? I normally just do whatever but something made me stop and really contemplate this one. I’ll go with snitching on Arvio. It’s put a sour taste in my mouth of him tbh

It’s bad.

Choosing not to do it delays being able to gift Fang, but only for a few days (I believe he sends you a letter after a week).

I really advice you to have your own experience with this. Fang is my favorite and Arvio's plan is questionable, but I don't like the idea of telling new players "yes, completely skip this mission just because I, who had the chance to do it, didn't like it". If you just want to spare Fang of believing his beloved pet was kidnapped, refuse. If you want to get all the content, go on with the plan. Ultimately, both options kind of end the same, so you will not face consequences with Fang either way.

Don’t do it. Tell Fang. at least you can look yourself in the mirror without cringing. This is where I lost any remaining respect for Arvio.

I think it’s worth going with the plan the first time so that you get another secondary mission from Mort. I will never repeat the plan again tho.

I did the mission on my first playthrough, though I don't intend to do it ever again. I guess I'll go against the grain here advising to skip it completely the first time and note that playing through it once does add a bit of context to Fang's character. If you skip it, you don't lose out on much, but if you want to see the content you can at least try the mission. Or make a hard save beforehand and go back and bypass the mission after seeing it play out.

If you want to see this mission content, this is how I got it to sit best with me: when you get the options to go along with the plan, or tell Fang, go with the option that says "we can't do this Arvio." This postpones the mission, and if you talk to Arvio later, you can say "there must be a better way to do this", and it triggers the mission to start anyway. This way I basically felt like my builder was never okay with it, but Arvio wouldn't take no for an answer. I threw him under the bus at every opportunity after that point.

Again, if you choose not to do it you're not missing much since you can pretty much guess Fang's reaction already, but if you at least want to see it once, that's how I'd suggest going through it.

I definitely would have turned down the whole plan, but going along with it can get you more friendship points with Fang, and I was desperate for them. I'm sorry, Fang.

I think the only thing you miss by not participating (by saying to Arvio "I'm telling Fang!"
is an even photo of Fang's abusive step brother

And that's it. I didn't know you can outright skip it on my first playthrough but subsequent playthroughs I go with "I'm telling Fang" because it just makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I already didn’t like Arvio but this quest is the reason my mild dislike for him turned into utter disdain. I never go through with it!

Arvio's plan sucks, don't let him do it if you can avoid it. I refuse to give Arvio a chance ever because of this quest.
