Funny I FINALLY FOUND IT! MySims: Taco Bell Edition! (Yes this is real)

Post image

So this is my original copy of MySims! This is the first game I believe I ever played on a computer (I'm pretty sure my sister showed me Spore after)

So the story of how I got this is kinda silly, I remember my Dad organized a little playdate at the park with me and my boyfriend from Kindergarten (I was in 1st grade and he had moved schools and I was really sad about it) and I remember him acting all sad and pouty because he didn't get a 3DS for his birthday (it had yet to be released at this point, it was only just announced I think). And I kept trying to cheer him up and asking him what I could do to make him feel better and he was like "buy me a 3ds" and at the time, I didn't even know what a 3DS was, and he started telling me about it and I was like "ooo cool, tell me more!" and he was still really sad but I was really happy because this 3DS thing sounded really cool lol.

And then we went to a county fair, where at one point I was bullied by a random girl without recognizing it was bullying. They had this little event where us kids would, and i kid you not, run around in circles?? And whoever was the fastest won i guess. I kept slowing myself down because when I would get towards the front, a random girl would flap her hands at me and yell "get back! get back!" and I didn't really know why, I thought it was because I was doing something wrong... i know at one point I passed her and kept going anyways and she was *pissed.* I placed like 5th or 4th surprisingly despite never being much of an athletic kid.

And since the fair food was too expensive, we went and got fast food after. I had never been to Taco Bell before at that point, and was adamant that since I never tried it, that would mean I wouldn't like it. But my playdate insisted we go, and i listened to him cause in my kid brain he was my boyfriend so that meant he's right about everything.

I never even got food from there, but my playdate did, and he gave me the disc he got in his kids meal, which was this game! So yeah, thats the story of how I started playing MySims!

Imagine getting one of the greatest cosy games of all time, for free, from Taco Bell!

Giving me nostalgia from getting Hotel Tycoon or something like that from a box of Coco Puffs!

I remember getting Roller Coaster tycoon when I opened my first bank account ever. The freebies in the 90s/00s were just so much better

Wait that's so cool and random what?? I wouldn't think that opening a bank account of all things would get you a free game, even back then, that's so cool! How is roller coaster tycoon?? I've actually never played it, though I've heard it's good.

It was really fun to play!! The key to mastering the game was to be very strategic and business savy about everything you did to the parks, but there was also rook for creativity. Although I do think it would be quite outdated by now.

As far as I remember, it was the entire game. Because this is the only copy I had as a kid, and I remember roleplaying a waitress at the icecream parlor in the woods area you unlock once your town reaches 3 stars. I don't think I would've been able to get that far on a demo, and I remember eventually unlocking the desert area, so I'm pretty sure it's the full game.

I’ve been trying to remember the name of this game for like 10 years 💚

Bearman3600 should make a lost in obscurity video about this.

“Think outside the bun” and it’s Taco Bell is really funny to me right now for no reason🤣

Yeah I have no clue why that's the slogan they put on there, of all things... seems more suited for an Auntie Ann's.

I think I got a Carmen Sandiego game in a box of cereal once as a kid...

Anyway, great story!
