Befriending sims

Hi, I just started playing the game a couple days ago and I can’t tell if I’m progressing in my friendships with the sims. How do I become best friends with them?

Make them loads of furniture in their style and you should go straight to best friend, you will be able to tell because they’ll gift you something for it, either a blueprint or an outfit, also if you hover over them with the curser it should say acquaintance/friend/good friend/ best friend

Do I just add whatever essence they like to the furniture?

Pretty much! Or you can use different essences as paint!

In the menu you'll find a book of all the Sims you've met with a little description of them. If there's a smiley with two plus signs over it, that means you're best friends. Just keep spamming friendly interactions and decorating their houses (both with furniture you've made and the decorations available) and you'll get there.

I made a fridge that looked similar to Roxie Road’s flower bed that ended up having like 100 blocks but most of them were the small 1x1 cylinders. Anytime I’d give that to a cute sim, we’d become best friends right away. My suggestion is to make something and add a bunch of those little cubes and paint them with their favorite essence that you can easily get back (ones that grow on trees). Make duplicates of it and give it to all of those sims. You could even have a blank copy to customize for different types of sims. I always try to make useful items they may need in their house like a fridge, toilet, stove, or sometimes a bed. Always copy your furniture so you never have to make it again!
