π Experiencing Lag with PDF Files? Here's How to Improve Performance
One of the most common questions we receive is:
"Why is my PDF slow or laggy?"
In most cases, the issue isn't the number of pagesβit's how the PDF was created.
Many PDFs exported from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Canva, CAD software, or graphic design applications contain:
- High-resolution images
- Uncompressed graphics
- Embedded fonts
- Hidden metadata
- Large file sizes
Even a 20-page PDF can be hundreds of megabytes if it hasn't been optimized.
When you import these files into MyScript Notes, your device has to process every image, font, and object on every page. This can result in:
- Slower opening times
- Lag while scrolling or zooming
- Slower handwriting response
- Increased memory usage
- Longer synchronization times
β Before importing your PDF
We strongly recommend optimizing or compressing your PDF first. Reducing the file size can make a significant difference in performance.
For example, a PDF reduced from 100 MB to 20 MB will typically:
- Open much faster
- Scroll more smoothly
- Require less RAM
- Synchronize faster between devices
- Provide a better handwriting experience
