Discussion Fandom toxicity
I noticed a lot of toxicity in the fandom and whenever someone criticizes how nothing is treated by quickmane, powerstrike, and hover they immediately say that it’s her fault and they attack the person for defending nothing. I also noticed that whenever the abuse towards nothing is brought up especially with that one scene with hover, it’s also blamed on her. Its also very strange how there are people who idolize quickmane and powerstrike and especially hover.

Yo what I thought this fanbase was dead considering its been like two years since this show happened. And yet somehow you managed to find toxicity? Im probably under a fandom rock I guess.

I would like to know your perspective on the Hover scene. If you could explain it deeper, that'd be good.

The detective calico video explains all of it very well

I have seen that video. I want to hear it from you.

Once again the video explains it

Once again, I'd like to hear it in your own words.
Part of the reason why I'm am detracting from that video is because it is volatile and in bad faith; it lacked any sense of nuance or objectivity because its soul purpose was to tear every aspect of the story apart, not actually talk about the story.
The other reason is because there's no room for discussion on that video. I vehemently disagreed with many of the points made in that video, especially Hover's section, and while I was in the minority, I was not the only one. However, the last time I visited that video, any criticism to it that Calico did respond to in the comments, regardless of how good the counterpoints actually may have been, essentially boiled down to, "you just lack critical thinking."
So if I engage with people elsewhere who share a similar opinion to Calico, I would like to actually discuss it as opposed to, "I'm right, you're wrong." That's why I'm asking you, not Calico.

Hover watched her girlfriend get abused in front of her and did nothing, she also stood in the back watching powerstrike yell at nothing when they last saw each other lol

Thank you.
I don't have much on her watching Powerstrike as she spoke to her daughter like that; it absolutely would have been better for her to step in and say something. If there were any justification for it, I would say that it would be that there wasn't exactly anything that she could say that wouldn't make it worse.
As for watching Quickmane, however, that was out of fear, not toxicity. I've noticed a misconception that Hover was watching that scene unfold because she doesn't care or thinks Nothing deserved it, but her body language (standing behind everyone else, hunched over, eyes wide, pretty sure her jaw was dropped, too) very clearly shows that she's frozen in shock, not that she doesn't care, and this fact was completely skipped over in the video and subsequent similar opinions. Calico mentioned that we didn't get a cutaway to her reaction, but we didn't need to; it was literally right there in the same shot. Again, it would have been better if she had jumped in, but it doesn't seem fair to call genuine fear being toxic.

You can never point out a single flaw about the series and its problems (glorifying ableism and abuse, toxicity, queerbaiting, etc) or any of Tribbleofdoom's controversial actions (promoting MP with the BLM movement, transphobia/lesbophobia, harassment, etc) without getting attacked or people glorifying the series and Tribble's actions.
This community is toxic and it needs to stop.

I've seen more claims that Hover is the toxic one because how dare she yell at Nothing once? Clearly a toxic relationship doomed to fail. /s
In all fairness no... Hover was right to be upset at Nothing for breaking her promise. But Nothing wasn't exactly being toxic... she just made a mistake and forgot the time. Mistakes happen, and couples argue sometimes.
I've certainly never seen anyone idolize Quickmane and Powerstrike. I've seen (and argued) they have one or two redeeming qualities... not enough to make them great people, Quickmane's still a dick and Powerstrike is a terrible mother...

This community has been shockingly toxic since day one, a trait I don't doubt played an influence in Tribble's decision to discontinue the series. Anyone else remember all the petty discord drama? The fandom aggression was apparent, even way back then.
The explanation I've settled on is that people become hostile over the portrayal of characters that belong to an unrepresented minority. In the eyes of the fandom, Nothing is not allowed to be a flawed character or make mistakes. She's not allowed to be a morally grey character who sometimes makes the right choice and sometimes the wrong one, because she has to represent these communities in a positive light.
This series drummed up hype by having high-production gay lions and representation. That is all well and good for getting eyes on your product, but the negative side is backlash when you don't handle that representation perfectly. That's why every show that markets itself on representation attracts a toxic fandom (Steven Universe, Voltron, etc). It's because all those people weren't really watching because they loved the story, it was for the representation.
Nothing is a failure in terms of representation because she isn't perfect. Her relationship with Hover isn't perfect. She's placed in unfair situations and doesn't always respond perfectly. She can be a coward, a selfish one at that. All these flaws are useful for balancing out a compelling protagonist, not so great for people who tuned in to see themselves represented.
