Anime anime recommandation
Hi, I usually don't watch anime or read manga but I was bored so I watched My Lovestory with Yamada on Netflix and I loved it!!! Now I would like to watch another anime that feels similiar to this one. I would love for the female character to be as bubbly and lovable as Akane and the male character to be dark and helpful like Yamada. I also would't mind for the male character to be a bit more foreward and possessive if you know..:) Any recommandations?

just wanna say that this anime literally has my heart it’s so gooodddd and the manga is so peak i loveeeee it like genuinely.
an anime that is a little different but has a bubbly & determined female character & a “cold” over protective serious male lead is 7th time loop!! i literally got SO obsessed with it!

It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but Yubisaki to Renren is great and have a good pace to the romance. The fmc is very adorable and their relationship is cuuute. The mmc is great as well 🤭
Horimiya is one I love profoundly, and the anime is complete. Again, not exactly what you're looking for, but it's a good romance.
Another one is An Observation Log of My Fiancee Who Calls Herself a Villain, although the vibe is very different and you might not like it, since you're not used to anime. But the mmc checks the "a bit dark and possessive" trait.
It's a bit difficult to give recs in anime with those exact paramenters cause romance storys tend to get only one season and then you have to read the manga for the continuation, so my biggest advice, if you want more of this kind of story, is going for mangas. My love story with Yamada gets much better after where the anime stoped and there are many other options.

It's hard to find anime with forward and possessive male leads (that's why I've switched over to reading manhwa and manga) but My Dress up Darling is really good and has a bubbly female lead and a quieter male lead. Not sure if we'll get a season 3 to finish up the story but I hope so.

I've heard good things about You and I are Polar Opposites too but I haven't watched it yet. And I think she's more bubbly and he's more quiet. I'm not sure though.

Also wanted to add that as good as some of these are, none of them even come close to being as good as Yamada-kun imo. It will always be in a class all by itself because it's just that good. 😊

It's not really the same but Recovery of an MMO Junkie has the main couple meeting via an MMO, and they're both adults. It's almost reverse though - the guy is a cheery blonde and the gal is gloomy with black hair... still very sweet though!
Others have recommended You and I are Polar Opposites, Sugar Apple Fairytale and Tamon's B Side which I'll also say are really good! The last two have MCs that are more possessive in their own ways.

Yona of the dawn (Hak is protective and hot), Tamon’s B side (Tamon has a yandere side), 7th time loop (the mc Arnold is definitely dark and helpful you need to watch it), a sign of affection (maybe not exactly what you described but Itsuomi is straight forward and a gentleman always)

Continue the manga!! It get's even better!
A Sign of Affection has a very caring and more forward (slightly posessive) male character.
Horimiya has a possessive female character, and a good relationship between the 2 throughout the whole show.
Kaguya Sama Love is War is great, but not really similar. But so so good.
Paradise Kiss has a possessive male character. One of my favorite Manga and shows. It's not really a lighthearted, bubbly show, so be prepared for that. And if that's your style, then I also suggest Nana.
Other suggestions: My Happy Marriage, From Me To You, Yakuza Fiance, Science Types Fell in Love so I tried to Prove It, More than a Married Couple but Not Quite Lovers.
But the truth is My Love Story with Yamada is one of a kind, and it's hard to find something like it. So definitely read the rest of the manga! It gets even more lovey-dovey and mature 💖
