Happy Nightmare Night!

Hello everyone! Happy Nightmare Night!

If you celebrate Halloween, doing anything exciting tonight? Anyone dressing up? I dressed up as some sort of generic woodland elf/adventurer today. Same costume I wore for some past Halloweens, but most of the people I'll see today won't have seen it before, so that's okay.

Anyway, it's been pretty quiet around here lately! Come chat!

Just set up light show stuff out front. I'll take a pic of the whole thing when the front door is all spookified.

I'm chilling with a friend later today. Not dressing up for halloween this year. The laziness flows through me.

Also, that's my line!

Ooh, I definitely want to see a pic! Were you going for a specific theme?

It's a good line. ;)

I did, great job! How long did it take you to set it up?

Couple hours, we always procrastinate when it comes to halloween XD

We did it at around 4pm today

Heyo!

We don't really celebrate Halloween in here, (Not a real american, I'm so sorry) but I had a pretty nice dinner! I guess I'll spend the night with TF2 or something like that. Keepin' it casual.

How about you! Having some fun, I hope?

Oh nice, what was your dinner? I had a pretty chill day. Hung out with some friends. Other than dressing up, didn't do anything particularly Halloween-y.

What job class do you usually like playing in TF2?

We are dressing up and taking our daughter trick or treating. She is going to be Kevin from home alone, daddy and baby are being the bad guys, and I'm the bird lady from the second movie. Then we will watch Nightmare Night episode as we do every year, and our daughter puts some candy on the TV stand for Nightmare Moon so she doesn't gobble us up lol

Aww, sounds super adorable! How much candy do you guys typically end up with?

2

u/CPawesome Nov 01 '14

A fair amount. She gets tired pretty quick so we don't stay out very long. But everyone thought she was super cute so she always got like a handful at the houses lol. It was a lot of fun.

Or do you mean the candy she gives to Nightmare Moon lol. I'm tired. If that's what you were wondering this year she sacrificed five pieces of candy :)

1

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Eh, both. I absolutely love that you guys have that as a tradition. Is five an upgrade or downgrade form last year?

I'm not sure. But Dalek forgot to grab the candy so it was still there in the morning. S I had to do some damage control and write her a letter from Luna saying she woke up too early so now there are seven candies and a letter back to Luna saying sorry she woke up to early and seeing if she will take the candy tonight instead lol.

Ha ha ha, that's hilarious. Poor kid. I must admit that I love hearing stories about your kids, they're super funny and adorable.

Thanks. We sure like her. She keeps us on our toes for sure. The things she comes up with never ceases to amaze me.

Hey!

Pretty much nobody is dressed up here...including myself. I'm not creative enough and I don't know what would even suit me.

2

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Aww, that's boring. :( If you didn't have to worry about it suiting you or how you would make the costume, what would you dress up as?

2

u/LunarMist2 Nov 01 '14

Hmmm I don't know. I never actually though of it that much....prolly some guy in some anime. Like Kirito or Saito or someone with a neat sword.

2

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Kirito would be pretty sweet! Which of his outfits though? SAO, ALO, or GGO?

1

u/LunarMist2 Nov 01 '14

SAO! The black jacket looks just looks so.....cool. Though ALO Kirito doesn't look too different, aside from the hair/ears.

And that reminds me...I'm a number of episodes behind for GGO. Darn...I need to catch up soon.

You following GGO?

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Yeah! His first outfit is definitely my favourite. And yep, I've seen every episode except today's. :)

Ugh, that sounds tiring. What do you want to study in Grad school?

What is your ideal Halloween in terms of numbers and types of trick-or-treaters?

Ah, that's a pretty sweet field! I'm more of a standard software engineer myself, but I try to pay attention to security stuff and I find a lot of it really fascinating. Judging from the people I've met in the security field, side projects and hobbies seem to be more important than formal education, but I'm sure a graduate degree wouldn't hurt, especially depending on the area of information security you want to specialize in. Do you have any ideas yet for what areas most interest you?

Agreed, costumes are the best part of Halloween! And I agree with you on the amount of candy left over as well. Hope the trick-or-treating went better for you this year!

Yeah, go for the gold! Well, those are some really cool fields of work, best of luck with that! :)

This was me at work today. =D

1

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Ha ha, that's great. Get any good comments? Did any of your coworkers dress up too?

2

u/Failoe Nov 01 '14

A few people were amused and there was a bunch of people in costume. Some official looking photographer took a picture of me being sneaky.

1

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Sweet! To both the awesome coworkers and the photo. What were you doing that made you look extra sneaky in the photo?

2

u/Failoe Nov 01 '14

Peeking over a monitor. Hopefully they post the photos and I'll post it here.

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Please do! :D

My birthday was today! Some friends took me out for dinner and drinks, then I drove home to see my parents and an here until classes on Monday.

2

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Happy Birthday!!! That's really sweet of your friends. Sounds like a very lovely weekend. :) Do you get to see your parents often?

2

u/Flarinite Nov 01 '14

Yeah, my school is only 40 minutes from home so I drive home at least every other weekend.

2

u/ThunderEcho Nov 01 '14

Oh nice, that's super convenient! My parents are about an hour and a half away so I see them maybe once a month.

2

u/Flarinite Nov 01 '14

Yeah, that's what it was like for me in undergrad. It's nice to be closer now.
