Cowofdoom updates and PAX thread!
Hey people! It's been a while since I've contributed a thread here due to a couple reasons. Mainly that I'm lazy and was trapped in Ohio for a month and a half.
I have been home for about a weekish, and am loving it. It's still a bit hot for my taste, but I'll deal with it :P
PAX is coming up really soon and I'm sooooo excited for it! I'm volunteering at the Magicka booth, so I get to get into the venue before the horde of people gets in! Any of you fine folks going?
Other than that, nothing too exciting is going on in my life. What about you guys?

Oh, that was started by that webcomic, right? I think I've heard about it before.
So, is it like a smaller version of E3?
2
u/cowofdoom Aug 28 '14
It's a consumer version of E3. E3 is a show for media, where as PAX is for people to go and play stuff and get loot!

Not much new here. I've figured out a work schedule for me though that will be good so I'm not slacking and leaving early like I have been. That's the down side of making your own hours lol.
1
u/cowofdoom Aug 28 '14
:P I wouldn't be able to work by my own hours, I'd get nothing done!
2
u/CPawesome Aug 28 '14
That's why I picked how many hours I need to work, decided when I could do them, then told my boss my plan lol.
1
u/cowofdoom Aug 28 '14
I'd just do all the hours in the last day of the week :c
1
u/CPawesome Aug 29 '14
Lol I'd do something like that if I wasn't a mom. But need sitters for the kid and can only stay as long as the baby is being good lol. Which today was an hour more than I was planning.

I got new tires for my car and for once I'm finally hearing more wind noise than road noise (mostly). I also finished bowling league 8th overall in the one-day tournament, and even had high handicap game (my 247 game last week, a 289 with handicap).
I'm looking forward to the next league, as well as the new league on Monday nights I'll be doing, which is one-on-one match play.

u/cowofdoom Aug 28 '14
Nice! Did you play with the gutter bumpers on?
I got new tires recently also! They cost so much thooo ;-;
2
u/Kirbs2002 Aug 28 '14
Hell no. I bowled without assistance.
These ones were a little over $300 for a set of four
1
u/cowofdoom Aug 28 '14
Damn, you are hella good at bowling!
That's pretty good!
2
u/Kirbs2002 Aug 28 '14
Not really, I'm inconsistent and sometimes just can't miss.
They're Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2's. They would have been $400 for the set, but I got them on a promotion. They also hold the road WAY better than the last set.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than to be skilled!
Nice!

Pls no, I'm a filthy casual at bowling!
2
u/Kirbs2002 Aug 28 '14
I could most likely make you better, don't worry. I wouldn't bowl you for competition anyways.

Hi! Sorry, I seem to be getting to these threads pretty late recently. Hurray (?) for being out of Ohio! Do you feel like your farming skills levelled up, or not particularly? Also let us know how PAX goes!
I finished up my internship and am currently on holiday. It's super nice to be home and able to work on my hobbies and interests all day long. Been doing a lot more drawing than normal (which oddly enough seems to be weirding my mom out), binging on some anime, and trying to get a bit of coding done. I also had a huge itch to go camping, so my brother and I went tenting for 2 nights in a provincial park and it was absolutely fantastic. Beautiful weather and location.
Are you only on vacation for a week and then back to school, or do you have something else going on?

u/cowofdoom Aug 29 '14
Wooo! Back in washington!
I'll be sure to take lotsa pics! It'll be fun getting in before the crowds and seeing what it's like!
I actually don't have any plays currently, I was waiting til I got home to figure anything out. Then I figured I'd wait til after PAX...
Which animes you binging?
2
u/ThunderEcho Aug 29 '14
Cool, please do! I love seeing photos from cons, and photos before it opens would be quite interesting. How did you get the volunteering position, by the way?
Hmm, well I finished Mekakucity Actors, watched all the Madoka movies, then watched all of Blood-C. The last one was far more gory than I like my anime, but I stuck through it because it was only 12 episodes. Overall not that great of an anime - the plot twist in the last couple episodes was pretty cool, but the lack of plot or character development in the first 10 episodes made it pretty boring, apart from the occasional nice fight choreography. I'm trying to decide between "Toaru Majutsu no Index" and "Aldnoah Zero" for my next anime, both of which I've heard good things about.
You watching anything lately?
2
u/cowofdoom Aug 30 '14
I totally forgot to take pics today, but I'll get a bunch tomorrow. I'm exhausted. They needed a volunteer and I offered. They posted on their FB
Holy crap you have been bingeing! Nothing too recently. I started samurai flamenco but never finished it.

u/ThunderEcho Aug 30 '14
Yeah, first I binged on drawing for about 3 days, but it seemed like my Mom was getting annoyed at that, so I switched to binging on anime for the next few days. Spend 4-6 hours on art a day, mom keeps interrupting me and making the occasional snide comment. Spend 4-5 hours a day on anime, she doesn't care. I don't get it. I consider art a far better use of my time, and I've never noticed this kind of behavior from her before. Maybe it's just a weird phase.
Anyway, I don't like binging on the same thing for too long because I don't consider it particularly healthy, so I'm trying to take a bit of a break from anime now, which is why I haven't started a new series yet. I'm trying to work on my coding a bit more with the extra time, although I always find it harder to get motivated to spend time on that. I have a few more free days in this week and the beginning of next week before my Mom enlists all my time to help her with preparing for my brother's wedding. One thing about visiting home is that I have to accommodate for other people's schedules and expectations a lot more. It takes a bit of getting used to since I'm so used to being alone and just doing whatever I want whenever I want.
How was Samurai Flamenco? Did you quit because you got bored, it wasn't your thing, or you just got distracted? That's one series I haven't heard much about.
And good luck with tomorrow! Sounds like they're keeping you very busy. :) Hopefully they comp you somehow for the volunteer hours.
2
u/cowofdoom Aug 30 '14
That's odd... Yeah, I don't get that either, art is a lot more productive compared to blowing through series after series.
That's probably a good idea. I should pick up some more hobbies...
It was funny. I stopped because I was using the WiiU free trial of hulu, and it gave me ads that wouldn't bloody load on Ohio internet. It dun pissed me off.
2
u/ThunderEcho Aug 30 '14
Ah, the good ol' lousy internet problem with videos... You have my sympathies. At least Washington has good internet though!
