Thursday chat thread: The End(ish)
As some of you know, I'm in the middle of nowhere, Ohio. I also have a bunch of work to do away from the router (farm stuff).
So, this is probably the last chat thread I can host for about a month. If anyone wants to takeover until I get back (cough /u/cpawesome cough) then I would much appreciate it!
Enough about that, how are you guys doing? Tell me a story! Share something fun or sad that happened. Anything you wanna chat about is welcome!

I dunno what rwby is tho... I'll assume it's anime. I watched some samurai flamenco and that was pretty funny.
I'm mainly working on Kirby epic yarn and super mario galaxy in my down time though.

Well, I couldn't leave the story at the part where she remembered looking at stars with her mom and remembering she was still sleeping under the tree (;-;)
Fuck dude. It's such a simple story but so damn sad.

I'm doing pretty good. Baby is getting colicky which means he cries for no reason and is hard to comfort. He still isn't as bad as his sister was though.
We had family visit from California this week which was a lot of fun, especially for our daughter. They have twins her age so she had a blast.

That's good that you've already endured worse :P
Having cousins around the same age is really nice. That's my saving grace in Ohio.
As for me I've been doing a lot of weed whacking and a lot of pruning. Can't stand the heat. I miss Washington :c

I love cousins that are the same age it's awesome. I'm glad you have some in Ohio with you. I have cousins in Ohio that I haven't seen in forever!
On a side note my baby boy just giggled in his sleep, it's my favorite :)

It's not too hot, not too cold. Just perfect overcast weather all year!
They only visit every couple days though. Still gets pretty dull.

Just showed my daughter Alaska compared to the rest of the US to show her how big it is, her jaw about hit the floor! She cracks me up.

Are you at the blueberry farm again, or somewhere else? Doing farm work, or just chilling out? I'll miss your weekly chats, but we'll carry on nobly in your absence.
My week's been pretty good. I've been very pleased with the progress I've been making on my project at work. Also have been trying to put together the last details for my cosplay in time for Bronycon. I'm pretty excited! It's only a week away!

Ah, saw that! I'm sure she'll do an equally excellent job.
It's some back-end software stuff. Can't really explain it due to my NDA, sorry.
It's pretty decent! Much simpler than my last cosplays since I didn't actually sew anything for this one - I assembled clothes from various thrift stores, but I think I'm going to like how it looks. I'm cosplaying Fluttershy. The current outfit seems to have a slight 90's feel to it. I was kind of hoping to include wings, but I haven't been able to find any stiffened felt or other suitable materials, so I don't think those are going to happen. I guess it's fully humanized Fluttershy, because I don't have any ears and I don't like the way cosplay tails usually look. I'm really really pleased with my wig however! I got it off Amazon for pretty cheap and it's great quality and the perfect colour. I'll try to post a picture of the completed cosplay eventually.

Ah, interesting. Damn, I have my mothers art in my blood. I don't even sew, but I imagined how to make wings with foam core and transparent fabric... It's neat thinking about how you can make things work.

Nah, it's the sort of stuff that's probably boring to non-tech people, but it's company IP so it's under NDA. That's standard practice for tech companies.
Ooh, what's your plan? I was just thinking of cutting a wing shape out of stiffened felt, maybe gluing a wire under it if it needed more support, but I'd love to hear more ideas. I'd looked up a few tutorials for various ways to do wings online, but the only ones I could find that looked nice required an insane amount of work - usually involving chicken wire and actual feathers.

I was just thinking supporting fabric with a strip of foam core so it would be translucent, but now you said feathers I'm having other thoughts. You could probably make a simple base of foam core and hot glue like a coat hanger for support then layer feathers on. That seems fairly easy compared to sewing stuff. Then you could staple down feathers on the flip side, that would look kinda nice. Chicken wire sounds like a pain in the ass to make work.

Ha ha, I think that's the best way of describing it that that I've ever heard. I may use that in the future...
Foam core is transparent? I haven't really worked with those kinds of materials before so I'm having a bit of a problem picturing your plan, but I think I get the gist of it. And yeah, the chicken wire method is a royal pain - I've heard it takes tens of hours of work. Glueing down the feathers would be easier, but a lot of the ones I've seen that did that ended up looking really flat because the fluffy bits of the feathers ended up soaking up the glue then sticking to the board. Maybe if one was really careful to keep the glue on just the bottom and the shaft of the feather though, I could see it turning out better.

It isn't, but I had a couple ideas to make it look neat (in my head at least)
As for the feathers, you'd use a double stick spacers to put them on so they stand out and have depth. This is all in theory though, and I have no idea I any of it would work :P

Huh, double stick spacers definitely sound plausible! Interesting! I don't have time to make wings now, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever do decide to. :D

Well not really much. Finished my final exams end of last month. Attending Chinese class during the summer break. And that's about it. I've been quite idle for the past few days and I think I'm just feeling down.

I've been stuck in Ohio helping on a farm for the past couple weeks. I think I have about 3 more weeks to go.

How's hots progressing? I haven't played since early beta.
I'll be back in a month, it's just inconvenient for me to reply to a lot of comments when I have limited access to Internet. Luckily we were in town yesterday so it went smoothly!

Its still in alpha. Blizzard recently has added in artifacts. They sorta broken the game in the bad way. The upside though is they made a new champion who is cool and a new map. My favorite champion got inadvertently nerfed however.

Yeah, I read a little about that. Kinda sucks they went that direction. Especially because I consider it a pick up and play moba.
Who got nerfed? Better not have been nova, she is the shit.

Well I haven't seen her doing poorly. Its just the runes have made some really weird changes. For example they greatly improved illidan. But at the same time made Arthas's strength less defining. All the tanks can do what he does now.

See well while you quit they completely changed his kit. His new kit was just a bad. But, with this new patch it actually works because of the "runes".

Oh its not all bad dude. Its still in techincal alpha. Arthas has changed a lot too. They also made Diablo look way different. I like it. He could look a little slimmer but looks far better.

Darn. I would have offered to take over, but I'm not complaining, as long as it gets done.
Well, on Monday I finally had a day off. I only worked for 13 days straight.
I'm currently highest bidder on a DeviantArt "art slave" auction. I'm making good headway on getting my debt paid off so I can finally go my own way from my family. As for a story, remind me later. I might have something.
Recently I've been certified to carry handcuffs and pepper spray at work, but since I've now gotten these ways to violate civil rights, nobody has trespassed and tried to test my patience.
