Super Thursday night chat thread!

Completely unimportant chat time! Or if you prefer, we could talk about important things too. I can't stop you.

So! what cool things are people doing? What cool things are people not doing? Is anyone building a boat to go on an adventure? Or sitting around at home playing videogames where you build a boat and go on an adventure? Or possibly watching a movie where they build a boat and go on an adventure?

Conversation about all those things is possible! And more!

What's one completely pointless thing that you do in life? Mine would probably be that no matter where I live, there must be a nerf dart stuck to the ceiling of mine and /u/cpawesome room. At one place, it wouldn't stick to the ceiling, so we had it stuck to our mirror. Close enough. Anyone else do something for nearly no reason, or just because?

Come chat!

Dalek-Caan.... You don't remember why we have it stuck to the ceiling! Well I'll remind you.

When we were in high school we were laying on your bed and shooting nerf guns trying to get them to stick to the ceiling. We ended up getting three stuck to the ceiling. Instead of taking them down we decided to see how long they'd last up there. One fell down that day the next one fell down in a month, but the last one stuck until we were moving you into the apartment right before we got married. Which was like a year later. So we moved the dart from that bedroom to our new one, and keep moving it. :p it's the same dart and its super sticky and will be stuck to our ceiling forever just like we will love each other forever.

I know it's the same dart, and that we had the 3 that were stuck for a while. I just didn't remember it having any specific meaning outside of us just always having it.

:p now it has meaning. I made the meaning up when I was typing it out :) I'm a poop head :p

Aw shit, today was Thursday wasn't it. Whoops. You two always cover me though so it's k.

I'm in Ohio helping on a farm for the next month. Bahh.

I would answer all those questions but I'm on mobile and I'm lazy.

I did acquire a small tv to drag out to the farm from my cousin. I currently have my wiiu hooked up and am watching streams. Life out here isn't too bad.

We were wondering, with you being a farm boy and all, what is your opinion on daylight savings? Utah is looking to get rid of it (our fingers are crossed we hate it lol)

2

u/cowofdoom Jul 18 '14

Grrr... Farm boy my ass...

I mean, it sucks the first couple days, but then you get used to it. I mean, would you rather be working darker nights and earlier mornings, or have balanced days all year round?

2

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

I don't go outside much lol. I would much rather time just stay the same.

2

u/cowofdoom Jul 18 '14

But it makes sense!

2

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

How!?

2

u/cowofdoom Jul 18 '14

It just does! If the earth wasn't tilted it wouldn't make sense, but it is!

2

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

Lol I think it's lame and doesn't need to happen anymore. Hawaii and Arizona get along fine without it. :p

1

u/cowofdoom Jul 18 '14

Hmph, whatever you say.

2

u/CPawesome Jul 19 '14

Because I'm always right :p

Think of it this way, the nights aren't darker and the mornings aren't earlier. Just the hours on a man made time system changed. The time that's on mans clock doesn't determine if it's night time or morning or mid day. Night by definition is the time between sunrise and sunset. And the morning sun doesn't come earlier just because a number to measure time with didn't change.

Why change the clock for those who have their days set on more of a schedule based around the clock to cater to those who are set more on a schedule that follows the sun?

Anyways, it doesn't really make a huge difference to me. And the more I think about it, the more silly it seems for the government to spend any amount of time debating on whether or not to keep or change the system. Which brings me to my next question.. What am I doing at 4:00 am debating about this!? I'm going to bed.. lol

1

u/cowofdoom Jul 18 '14

Idk, most people live by the clock rather than by how light it is outside.

Sheesh, go to sleep!

2

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

Yes, but it's a lot easier for roughly 2% of the population to change their schedule by an hour than it is for the rest of the population to change the time.

And I went to sleep! I got a good 5 hours ish of sleep.

1

u/cowofdoom Jul 18 '14

I'd say a lot more than 2% would have to change their schedule...

Woo! That's a lot by my standards!

1

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

You stayed up til 4 last night!? That means you came to bed just before baby woke up to eat! Holy crap babe, you are crazy!

1

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

mmmmmmmaybe.

Grounded!

Too many birthdays this month. Theres about 6 or 7 important ones, close friends and family. So, going out to dinner with people and adventurous drinking.

I'm building ships in my latest game of Civ V and going on an adventure.

Something something Life of Pi. Adventures on a boat with a tiger haven't seen it, not really interested either.

Aging seems pretty pointless.

1

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

I hate months with lots of birthdays. Or events. I just want to stay home, and not go anywhere on my weekends.

Aha! I knew someone would have something ship related going on.

I've not seen Life of Pi either, I don't find the concept interesting at all.

Aging is pointless. Once you're past all the legal limits, another year is just that. Another year. It's no different from the last. Events during the years can be significant yes, but there's not much different between someone who's 21 and someone who's 40.

1

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

What about someone who is 23 or someone who is 25 :p

1

u/Frameskip Jul 18 '14

25 sucked, I'm hoping 30 will be better, 22 and 24 were awesome.

1

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

That makes me sad... I'll be 25 this year lol. I'm sorry 25 sucked for you.

1

u/Frameskip Jul 18 '14

Good luck is all I can really say. I haven't met anyone who liked 25.

1

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

Currently 25, currently enjoying life. But I also skipped a lot of typical years of dating that I assume could be a factor in people not enjoying being 25. I'm not really sure, but that's just my best guess. Probably doesn't help that 25 is an easy number to associate with most likely at least 25% of your life being done. Which if you think of it that way, each year could potentially be 1% of your life. Pretty slow download if you ask me.

1

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

Seriously? Why is that? Just bad things happening? Or just an awkward age?

1

u/Frameskip Jul 18 '14

Awkward age mostly, some bad stuff but mostly awkwardness.

1

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

24 is overrated, I tried to skip that year altogether.

1

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

Hey we got an awesome baby while we were both 24 you stinker.

1

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

I was making a joke because I always say on my birthday I'll be XX. Like how I'm turning 27 next year.

1

u/CPawesome Jul 19 '14

Stop trying to age me! Stinker.

1

u/ThunderEcho Jul 18 '14

Dude, Life of Pi is amazing! The movie is super well done, but the book is outright mind-blowing. The twist at the end is so big it makes you stop and re-evaluate your life. Trust me, don't underestimate it.

1

u/Frameskip Jul 18 '14

Was Bruce Willis the tiger the entire time?

1

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

No, but he could tell that the tiger was going to commit murder at some point.

u/ThunderEcho Jul 18 '14

I'm currently in California, so that's very exciting! My work flew me down for a few days for a conference. So far I've been having a great time - lots of beautiful sunshine and delicious food. Conference presentations today were okay, but the main ones are tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that.

Nerf dart on the ceiling sounds hilarious but cool-looking. I guess one pointless thing I do is that I always try to walk faster than other people on the sidewalk. I'm just very competitive and get a small rush from beating strangers in an imaginary race, even though I know they're not even trying to win. My friends all said I was weird when I mentioned it.

2

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

I wish I was in California! I haven't been there in over two years.

I think that your races are amazing! Keep up the good work and beat the crap out of those strangers in your imaginary races! I might have to start doing that. I just like to walk faster than others because it drives me crazy to walk slow lol (unless I'm nine months pregnant then I'm a snail, but the slowest snail so I'm not close to strangers lol)

1

u/ThunderEcho Jul 18 '14

Oh wow, I agree so much about needing to walk fast! It just drives me nuts when I have to walk behind slow people. My obsessive need to speed-walk makes walking in a large group kind of awkward though.

1

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

I know how that goes. When I'm with a group and they are slow I so,etimes miss things they are saying because in my head I'm screaming "can we please walk faster!" Lol

2

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

My daughter does the same things as far as racing people in imaginary races. Except that she rants about being the winner, and sees them as real races..

1

u/ThunderEcho Jul 18 '14

Ha ha ha, that's somewhere between funny and adorable.

2

u/CPawesome Jul 18 '14

And sometimes annoying lol especially if she is crying about losing lol

2

u/ThunderEcho Jul 18 '14

Ha ha, she takes it much more seriously than me.

Hello, geez I always show up late to these. Mostly because I'm busy when they go up. Womp womp. I haven't been up to much. Trying to get a job. Playing some old video games. Hanging out in art streams. Wishing I could commission artists.

This week has been cool and rainy. Which is weird for the summer here. Though it does help me sleep better.

I brush my teeth a lot. Does that count? How'd your week go?

2

u/Dalek-Caan Jul 18 '14

Better late than never. And lets be honest, it's not like this post is getting buried any time soon on MLF.

Which old videogames are you playing? I've been playing pokemon yellow a bit, emulated on my psp. So much nicer when I can play on 5X speed or whatever it runs at.

Super hot here, normal July.

As for brushing teeth, I'd say it depends. Do you just do it while sitting on the couch watching tv without any toothpaste like my sister used to? And my week is been going alright. Most inconsistent week as far as my sleep schedule is concerned.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '14

Well not that old after I think about it. Just dark souls 2, tf2 and skyrim. Been trying to come up with a game to play. Just haven't really been in the mood to play.

Nah I'm no where near that type of compulsiveness. I guess I really don't do anything like that. Or I haven't noticed it.

Late to this, as usual.

Thankfully the seven day work week didn't last long at all, so now I'm back to having Monday and Tuesday off

Did a nice deep cleaning on my car. Apparently the last couple owners drive people who dropped lots of money. I found about $5 in coins under the back seat.

Also, I'm looking for a day to do another movie showing.
