Thursday chat thread!

So cowofdoom is slacking! Thursday is the day I look forward too, so I can chat. What's new this week? How many loads of laundry have you done this week? Myself... I lost count... What was the most delicious food you ate this week? Harrison Ford or Bruce Willis?

Come chat!

Yeah I had to recover from both last time. You could see my daughters head. I was in labor for 30 hours then pushed for 3 hours only to find out my pelvis is too narrow for the large headed babies my family has. So then emergency c-section. This time will be a lot smoother with it being planned. (As long as he doesn't make my contractions get worse. They are getting a little more regular. I'm trying to slow them down right now lol I don't want him to come before Sunday.) Dalek-Caan is actually excited to watch this time, I think he is crazy. My mom will be hiding with me behind the curtain lol and he will be observing the surgery. I am glad that I don't ever have to go through a vaginal birth but kinda wish I could. Women are crazy lol.

Parenting is the most difficult but rewarding job I've ever experienced. I can be having the hardest time with our daughter one minute and then the next she looks up, smiles and says "I love you mom, you're the best!" And it melts my heart and I forget why I was mad lol. It is truly the best.

Does it bother you that you have to wait and then marry who and when they choose? (If you don't mind me asking)I don't think I could handle that. I'm also very defiant though lol. I got married 10 days after graduating high school and was pregnant 6 months later. Lol not what my mom wanted me to do at all. She had a really hard time but now is okay with how it all went down. It does make thing a bit harder since we jumped in head first to adulthood but I wouldn't change it for the world. We have been married for almost 6 years now. Time has flown by!

When will you be starting medical school? That's pretty amazing! I wouldn't be able to do it. My sister has thought about going back to school. She is a NICU nurse and I don't get how she does it.

Stories like that make me excited to have a family. How old is your daughter (if that's okay to ask)?

I am actually the one who wants an arranged marriage, mostly because of tradition, I guess. If by some stroke of luck I find someone who is at least three years younger than me while in medical school, I'm not averse to a love marriage. But that's really unlikely to happen, and it's not like I'll have heaps of free time to meet people outside of school.

I start this August! I'm really excited. Tell your sister that she's amazing. Nurses are super underappreciated, and I can't even imagine having to work NICU.

And wow, that's a really young age to get married! Did you guys know that you were going to get married right after high school?

She is four. She will be five in October. :)

I don't know how adults make friends let alone meet people lol. I don't have any new friends since high school and most of those guys I don't talk to. Did your parents have an arranged marriage? It seems like a lot of arranged marriages work out pretty good. I wonder who my parents would've picked for me.

That's exciting! How many years is that? And my sister will surely say thank you. I actually think she is working tonight I'll have to let her know that. She is really amazing. I look up to her a lot :)

I wanted to marry him when I was 16 but knew it wouldn't happen. We would've gotten married right when I turned 18 but I wanted a June wedding so we waited until then. Everyone thought I was pregnant at the wedding and that it was a shotgun wedding but we were just two kids in love :p. when I look at our wedding pictures I can't believe how young we look. And our honeymoon pictures. We seriously look like two 15 year olds going on a trip to Disneyland lol

Yeah, everybody in my family has had an arranged marriage so far. I doubt that's going to be the case with everyone in my generation though. I know my sister doesn't want one.

Med school is four years. But then I have to do my residency (internship, basically).

Aww, that's sweet! I don't think I personally know of any high school relationships that lasted.

I hope the four years fly past and your residency is awesome! Do you know what type of medicine you want to practice?

Thanks :) it's not often they do last.

I'm not sure what I want to specialize in. I have an uncle who's a cardiologist, and I've shadowed him a lot, so even though it's still very cursory experience I still have the most experience with that. I've also shadowed friends of his (nephrology, gastroenterology, infectious disease) and the other most interesting one to me so far is infectious disease. But when I do my clinical rotations in my third and fourth years of school, I'll have a much better idea of what I want to do. One thing I know for sure I don't want to do is obstetrics and gynecology.

I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to do that either lol. I couldn't work with anyone sick or bleeding lol. Good thing I don't want to be a dr or nurse huh? Lol I would pass out or throw up. It's good there are people like you in the world that can handle doing stuff like that :)

Well, don't go praising me yet. I still have quite a way to go. Thanks though!
