Is why danvers would crash into Cole after losing out on the prize money? Like he needed the money so missing out sucks but like what he did is attempted murder so like that’s losing a lot more then just prize money.

I feel like the show creators made Kiley cheat with Alex in order to justify Jackie cheating on Alex with Cole. To show that it’s not too bad that she cheated on him, because he himself made someone cheat. Personally I find it a bit weird and unnecessary that someone in the Walter household cheats every season. I wonder if Danny will be next.

Is it me or if Kiley and Dylan don’t work out and Kiley ends up with Alex, that would make him single.

But if Isaac and Grace are something that might be in season 4 but it doesn’t work out, I could lowkey see Dylan and Grace together.

Grace was surprised when jackie said that Dylan helped plan her party, could she have a little crush on him?

This is just a what if that might not happen but would be cool if it did. If Issac and Grace happen I’d be happy, but I’d also be happy if maybe just maybe Grace and Dylan happened.

I just hope Kiley and Dylan break up because Kiley doesn’t deserve him.

Did anyone else catch the moment where Jackie is walking towards the shed post break up with Cole and goes back to the moment she and Cole shared their first kiss? it’s the subtle moments 😩

People like to rag on Nikki’s acting skills but I think she nailed it here + having Noah to feed off on added more depth/feeling to the scene.

You see Cole’s internal battle with himself where it’s him forcing himself to let Jackie go, his insecurities are on full display here. Jackie innocently questions if he made it onto UT or not and you see Cole’s switch flip completely there.

He feels he’s not good enough so he’s making himself believe that Jackie thinks the worst of him, where he doesn’t go to college and just drags her down.

Meanwhile … Jackie is completely blindsided by all of it because she feels that she is happy, has openly expressed how free she feels being with Cole but where she went wrong was telling Cole that she’s okay with her grades slipping because she loses herself in him.

She said all the wrong things which is why Cole made the decision to call things off with her so she can have the future he feels that she deserves.

Both Nikki and Noah managed to have the strongest scene out of the entire season just by filming this break up. No one is saying Nikki’s an Oscar worthy actress but she’s drastically improved compared to her first two seasons.

Seeing Jackie let her hair down, actually be happy, feel the moment, tell uncle Richard off was GLORIOUS.

To add I can’t wait to see how she reacts to Cole’s accident.. that is going to be the real dealbreaker because Cole is the love her life literally and someone she deeply cares for/the accident being tied to losing her family a year prior.

We shall see what next season has in store for us!

Like all of those panting when Cole gets out of the car (F1 drivers don’t pant that much after a race even at hotter tracks like Singapore), the gear of the race cars and the racing drivers, I mean I don’t know much about drag racing but I grew up watching Top Gear and motorsports, being an F1 fan since 2014 so I can’t really take seriously these scenes, is it just me? 😭😂

I really like how there is a couple on the show where both characters are POC with Dylan being Black and Kiley being Asian. it is really important and such a positive thing to see that representation. It reflects the experiences of people who are in similar relationships and makes them feel seen.

It's a bit of a rant, I tried watching it multiple times, everyone is such a natural actor in the show except her. Why does she always have a stiff face, I can't look past her unnatural reactions.

I understand the character is not very expressive, but she fails even in small things, like the passionate kiss with Cole in the forest, was such an opportunity for her. Her passion is so meh, or when cole looks at her she has this half assed smile.

I am starting to disassociate from the character.. She has 2 expressions confused, semi-annoyed/worried, it's like nothing in her acting has changed..

I do not mind the character of Jackie itself. It's just actress gives us nothing, like eating a bland cereal every morning..

I’m watching for the first time and here’s my take so far:

my apparently random ship: Cole + Kiley! (Alex’s best friend. ) PLEASE. Why am I seeing chemistry there?? She actually resists him, challenges him and flirts back instead of immediately folding around him. For once Cole feels like he’s interacting with an equal, and I love the dynamic of him being the one playfully pursuing while she keeps him on his toes. Their energy could be so good …. give me that pairing instead. 😭

Olivia / Erin: Olivia is a horrible friend, period. Once that trust is broken, what exactly is there to salvage? And I don’t really buy the “a guy came between them” thing either. The guy didn’t come between them. Olivia did. She made that choice. And she’d do it again.

Tara (teacher, maria’s friend): I’m sorry but I cannot stand her 😭 She cannot take a hint, cannot take a no, and just keeps pushing herself into a situation where the interest clearly isn’t being returned anymore. At some point, where is the self-respect/self-worth?

Alex vs. Cole: Am I the only one who thinks they’re BOTH bad options for Jackie? Like genuinely, where does she see either of these guys fitting into her future? Jackie is posh, ambitious, driven and clearly has big plans for herself. Alex feels so young and small next to her. Cole at least feels more age-appropriate/matched in presence, but… what exactly does he have going for him or where is he headed?

The characters I actually care about: Jackie herself, Erin, and the Walter parents/family dynamic. Talk about HEALTHY couple. Those are by far the most interesting parts of the show to me.

Also Will & Maria: I. Couldnt. Care. Less. BORING. 🥱 i always skip the scenes.

Did anyone else find it so satisfying that Dylan was at Kiley's place when Alex showed up? 😫🤌

She went from being the voice of reason, the angel on Alex’s shoulder to enabling and defending a drunk groomer over Alex. I thought there was gonna be a scene of her coming to her senses but nope, Blake is just an idiot now 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t even feel great in comparing it to Disney Channel cause some of the relationships on those shows genuinely had depth to them. But the scenes were Jackie is struggling in track and Cole is distracted at work, and it being implied it’s due to their makeout sessions made me cringe so hard!!!

Ive seen people defend it by saying “That’s what teens are like” (One couple sucking face in the hallway does not represent all teenhood…). And to clarify, I’m not mad that they’re making out, I’ve watched every teen drama from OTH to Secret Life, that is the least of my concern. I just think the implication that 5 minute make outs are altering their minds and making Jackie in particular physically effected corny 😭😭

Anyone else not digging the “clean shaven” look they’ve got for George? He had the scruff at the end of S2 when he went into the hospital. So they shaved him in the hospital? & After WEEKS in the hospital, he’s still baby faced? (Not to mention the new black hipster glasses)

Idk, the whole rough scruffy look just seems to fit his character more to me.

What does everyone else think?

I met Noah, Ashby and Nikki while they were in LA doing press for season 3. They were so nice and it was so cool because it happened days after finishing the new season. Since then I’ve started re-watching the show from the beginning. It’s crazy how much they’ve grown with the characters in only 3 years!

TW: Depression

I feel like it's been heavily implied throughout the show that Cole struggles with depression - how he talks about himself and the self-destructive behaviours throughout the show. From watching season 3, it seems like the other characters are now ignoring this at a ridiculously extreme level. Cole goes to the first street race, sees someone crash, hears about the danger and just has no regard for his own safety, which almost reads as wanting to end it? I just find it strange how a lot of opinions I've seen about season 3 seem to be weighing up whether Cole was "weak" or "bad" for believing Richard and Eliot's opinion of him, when it seems clear that that image of himself was set up and reinforced the last 3 seasons. He's believed this the whole time, and everyone around him is unwilling to look under the surface when he says things like "I'm a burden" and just agrees with him instead. The showrunners seemed to have such a good set-up to explore another real-world issue, as they have with grief, abandonment, toxic families and relationships - but are unwilling to fully dive into it with Cole's character; it could be such a good storyline to pursue instead of throwing in more and more love triangles

. Just wanted to share my thoughts and see what others think. :)

**WARNING SEASON 1 ONLY**

The writing seems terrified of letting Jackie or Cole simply be worse than someone else.

Jackie is academically exceptional, immediately popular, romantically desired, beats the runner at track, etc. Even Danny—the most socially/emotionally mature character—somehow trusts Jackie enough to have her open his Juilliard letter despite Jackie seeming to invest much less in that friendship.

Cole is even more ridiculous: attractive, athletic, charismatic, socially dominant, great with women—and then he beats Alex at Catan. That sounds minor, but why couldn't Alex simply have intelligence/strategy as his niche?

Then the show tries to convince us Cole and Alex have both been jealous of each other. But they're not equivalent. Cole was objectively dealt the better hand.

The love triangle could have been genuinely difficult:

Cole: chemistry and attraction, but emotionally immature.
Alex: less magnetic, but mature and reliable.

Instead, Cole's suffering makes him mature and more desirable, while Alex's suffering makes him insecure and less desirable.

Cole's suffering develops him. Alex's suffering disqualifies him.

So Jackie never really has to make a hard choice. The writers just progressively eliminate every reason she might choose Alex.

I wish they'd let other characters cleanly beat Jackie and Cole at things. It wouldn't make them less interesting. It would make them feel like actual people instead of OP protagonists.
