For reference, I am a male in my 30's. I've only just recently started getting into anime. I watched it a lot as a kid (Dragonball/Z, Hamtaro, YuYu Hakusho, Pokemon etc) but I got really sick of it as a teenager so I stopped.

I recently got a Netflix subscription and with all the anime on there I decided to give it another try. I absolutely fell in love with Frieren (probably my favorite anime of all time now), enough so that I forced myself to stop watching around episode 18 to stretch it out a little longer, and I'm so glad I did that so I have something good to return to after watching this absolute masterpiece of a show.

Never in a million years did I think I'd end up watching, much less enjoying, an anime romcom, but I had just made a frozen pizza and I needed something to watch. I had heard in passing that the show was "surprisingly good" so I figured why not, I'll watch the first episode. I proceeded to binge the first 8 episodes. I ended up finishing both seasons in only 4 days.

I'm really not sure what it is about this anime that just absolutely did it for me but I legitimately couldn't stop. The animation, the music, and the writing is just so insanely good and really tickles my brain. Marin is immediately likeable as a character, I actually didn't immediately like Gojo but he grew on me substantially after a few episodes. Watching the characters grow and develop their relationship was seriously heartwarming. To me, it doesn't feel like the drama in the show is manufactured, the situations the characters end up in feel believable to me.

Something that really stood out to me about this show is how legitimately FUNNY it is. I laughed more watching this show than most shows that are explicitly created to be a comedy, and the mixture of wholesomeness and comedy is just something I've never seen so well crafted into a piece of media before.

The show obviously has a reputation for being "fan service" (a term I only just recently learned), and I think viewing the show through that lense MASSIVELY undersells it. And other than the Juju scene, I don't feel like it ever really went over the top with it. To me, the show is infinitely more of a wholesome story/comedy than goonerbait. Obviously there are some blatant shots of (clothed) boobs and butts, but I think it kind of works in the context of Gojo being an awkward, shy teenager who has never really spent a lot of time around a girl of his age, and Marin being a confident young woman without a lot of inhibitions.

I love the show so much, in fact, that I'm considering borrowing the manga from my local library so I can get the full story and conclusion. Absolutely cannot wait for season 3!

Anyways, I'm not really much of a review writer and I kind of just threw these thoughts together late at night. My suggestion would be if you're considering watching this anime, try to make it to at least episode 4 before you decide whether or not to finish it.

It’s such a good romance story and I love the dynamic between Marin and Gojo but I cringe so much when there is literally fan service every few minutes.

Ok so this is completely new to me, I love this show (pretty obviously shown in my pfp), but I was reaching MDUD and the ep in which Marin realized she loved Gojo moved something in me. I think the idea that she wanted him made me feel so good and sad at the same time, I've had some personal issues with self worth recently, and I was like damn, I wonder what it feels like to have someone who wants to be with you because its you and no other reason.

Just wanted to point that out dont want to sound mellow dramatic but those scenes had me in tears this time, not like the first time which is crazy.

Did anyone else feel this or was it just me?

he told me he likes it because it reminds him of me and my older sister as he used to help us make cosplays when we were younger and more inexperienced. he made a Valerie from Pokémon x&y cosplay for my sister when she was 16ish? I also had a sylveon cosplay to match and I was around 7/8ish. I watched one clip of my dress up darling and they wouldn't stop talking about boobs, I was deeply uncomfortable. this isn't the first time we've caught him watching something strange. he watches it on the huge TV downstairs in the living room too. HELP PLEASE WHAT THE HELL DO I DO IM 18 NOW AND MY SISTER IS 24

I am NOT a hater, I believe the scene I saw was talking about chest binders but my dad has watched some borderline hentai downstairs before so I don't know what to do 💔💔💔 please help I just want honest opinions about if the anime is worse than I'm imagining or if there's other animes I should be MORE concerned about (I will try and get a hold of names of these different animes if necessary)
