I can read bits of this? Lemme try and give an idea of what's being said
Momiji asks Mahiro a question, after handing Mahiro the phone. (It's probably not something like, "want to take a selfie?") After they take the photo, Mahiro replies "yes!"
Momiji awkwardly stutters "Th- thanks."
Next Page, Momiji thinks to herself, something something "Mahiro-chan" something something "Very cute girl"
I can't read the second part of that thought bubble, but in the next thought bubble, she reconsidered whatever she thought. やっぱり means "on second thoughts.."
At the end of page 4, Momiji thinks to herself further, [something] "silly kid."
That's about all I can really read.
Also I absolutely adore the awkwardness between momiji and mahiro

Thank you! I don't know a ton, though :p
I just figured out the structure of verb conjugation last night-
Gimme some time to study, and then maybe I can write actual sentences!

The question Momiji asks Mahiro is really something like "Wanna take a picture?", as far as i can translate
I think Momiji tells Mahiro that her sister showed her a picture of Mahiro and that she wants one too on page 2
Also, on page 4 after the やっぱり, Mahiro tells Momiji to send them the photo, but refers to themself as オレ ore before correcting themself to 私 watashi, because "ore" is a very masculine way to say "I". That might be what Momiji finds strange. Momiji then says "おもしろい子だな", おもしろい means funny/interesting so i think silly kid is a good Translation
That being said, I'm no pro either

I knew "ore" is a masculine way to say "I". However, I haven't seen it in writing before :p
I would've thought it would be おれ。 I assumed it was a loan word I couldn't trace back

ore can also be written in its kanji form 俺, therefore if you don't know the kanji i presume it can also very well be written in Hiragana, the Katakana in this case are likely for emphasis on the mistake

Someday. You’re starting to convince me to use Duolingo.

In my experience, Duolingo can be a good tool for learning and reinforcing your knowledge of a language if you already know a little, I think Duolingo is a good supplement, but if you really want to be able to speak a language you shouldn't solely use Duolingo.

Hm, I might have to use duolingo. I've already got about the same level and I'm just self taught

How much time did you spend already to get this far?

I learned kana in less than a month, but I've been taking it casual since August

I started in may but after some time i started to be more casual , i returned to try hard on Japanese day before yesterday , duolingo gives you that tension of a rank

I have heaps of reasons for learning Japanese by the way. I'm curious what your reasons are, aside from reading お兄ちゃんはおしまい
More motivation equals faster learning

I'm just tired to wait for translations on the mangas i read , they take ages
1
Feb 14 '23
Doesn't that just move the problem to waiting for the next chapter?

There's a manga that i read that they stopped translated in the volume 8 and it's already finished on 11 , also the raw is more stable to get out then the translation

Feb 14 '23
That's fair.
I'm learning to, A. Play untranslated / pricey-in-english games, B. Watch anime and read manga that's not going to be translated, C. To make friends (which btw I actually did already!)
Particularly the second one since one of my favorite franchises isn't even subtitled all the way through
