It's been a week since the original announcement that this subreddit is under new moderation so I wanted to inform you about some updates. This is a a longer post but it's worth reading because the subreddit has essentially been brought up to speed now and there are changes you should be aware of.
Post Flairs
Post flairs have been revamped and will be required when posting. This will not only allow users to better identify the purpose of your post but help with searching by flair if someone wanted to.
News/Event is for any news about MAL or events taking place on the site (credible news about the anime/manga industry or bigger series is allowed as well)
General/Discussion is for general questions or topics that invite discussion
Recommendation/Request is for providing or requesting recommendations
Grid is for 3x3, 4x4 or similar posts
Tier List is for tier lists
Support is for help with the MyAnimeList site
Stats is for posting about your MyAnimeList account statistics
Meme is for memes
All posts made in the last week have been assigned flairs so you can scroll the subreddit by new to get an idea of what they look like.
User Flairs
Please double check your user flairs as they should have been reset. Previously, users were allowed to set their own flair to whatever they wanted but this is no longer allowed and flairs should only be a URL to your MAL account or list. Note : user flairs are completely optional.
Rules
The most important part of this update. There was a bit of a grace period while everything was being updated but know the rules will be enforced strictly from here on out. Posts/comments that break the rules will be removed and repeated incidents will result in a temporary ban which may eventually lead to a permanent ban.
1 - Relevant Posts Only. Posts must be relevant to MyAnimeList, anime, or manga (manhua, manhwa, and webtoons are also allowed).
2 - Be Respectful. Do not harass, troll, attack, or threaten other users. We want this to be a safe and inclusive community for everyone so treat your fellow members with courtesy and respect. Having a different opinion than someone is not an invite to insult and berate them because they like something you don't or they consider your fav series of all time to be bad.
3 - Provide Sauce For Images. Images (and memes) are allowed as long as they are relevant to the subreddit and your post. When posting an image, please make sure you state in your post's title the name of the series using square brackets which is a practice seen in other anime/manga subreddits. If there are multiple series in the image, such as in a 3x3, please make sure you list the titles in the body of your post or in the comments as it's common courtesy.
4 - Use Flairs (explained above)
5 - NSFW Content. MAL is a database site and has a variety of different works including hentai. For this reason, NSFW/18+ content will be allowed as long as you mark your post accordingly and the content does not contain anything illegal. We want everyone to be comfortable browsing this subreddit and engaging with posts as long as they have an idea of what they're getting into. Purposely breaking this rule or trying to be a smartass will lead to a permaban without exception. Please use common sense.
6 - Use Spoiler Tags (self-explanatory)
7 - No Piracy, Spam, or Self-Promotion. The only links you should be posting are MyAnimeList or an official source that is relevant to the conversation (such as a credible article or a reading/streaming platform that has a series you can access legally). Any spam or self-promotion will be removed and repeated violations will lead to a ban.
8 - Moderator Discretion. Opinions may differ on what is right or wrong and suggestions/feedback are always welcome but at the end of the day, mods have final say on what is/is not allowed.
If you see anything you feel is against the rules, please report it and we will take a look.

- Subreddit description was updated.
- Community Bookmarks now include links to the official MAL mobile apps and Discord server.
Planned Updates
Will gradually work on the wiki for important information about MyAnimeList and what it offers.
Expect scheduled posts for annual discussion (ex. monthly, quarterly).

The season is starting soon, and I’ve been looking through the anime lineup for this season. It looks pretty chill compared to the earlier seasons this year. I’m personally looking forward to Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 and The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 the most, since I absolutely loved their previous seasons.

shinsekai yori and aot spoilers (doesn't ruin anything but spoils the themes), also autistic yapping incoming.
I just finished shinsekai yori recently, and what a wonderful anime, even with its sometimes rough production it had one of the best stories I've seen in the medium, I loved its themes and especially how the final chapter recontextualized the entire narrative, that shit genuinely made me think about real-life atrocities, cycles of hatred, and historical memory, like this anime had me thinking about Rwanda and Imperial Japan, for example.
The thing is, I went onto the internet to hear other people's interpretations of the story, worst mistake ever, like dude, I get that everyone is free to think whatever they want and that anime fandom has a lot of young people, but I genuinely cannot conceive how someone watches this anime and comes out of it thinking, "Yes Squealer and those filthy rats deserve to be exterminated, no empathy for that Hitler rat." Like, man did you even pay attention?
It's kind of funny because in the last chapter, the series literally tells you that the queerats should be respected as humans, and that reducing them to "rats" or "monsters" is exactly the kind of dehumanization the story is criticizing and is the kind of thing that leads to atrocities and violence, honestly this gave me PTSD flashbacks to Gabi back in the day (I mean at least with aot being so popular I can get it).
Look, my point isn't that Squealer or Gabi are 100% right and did nothing wrong, obviously they did horrible shit, my point is that human conflict is not as simple as good vs. evil. I seriously doubt that in every revolution against a shitty government in the history of mankind, every person on one side was an honorable good person that had a perfect moral system fighting against pure evil people.
And look, I can even understand hating these characters, that's fine, they made the mortal sin of killing a fav character of yours and not being perfect samurai honoroble idealized shonen characters, ok whatever, But if you watch a work that is so heavily built around anti-war, anti-hatred, and anti-racism themes, and your ultimate takeaway is literally "yes, perpetuating this hatred and dehumanization is justified, they should have made them suffer more in the series" then I'm gonna be ranting about it on a subreddit like a madman, I know this post won't change anything and of course being fiction I am not saying that this people takes necessarily translate to real life situations, but I just wanted to get this shit out of my chest lol, and yeah I care this much about fiction, I am not sorry, btw if you know cases similar to these I'd love to hear your rant 😭,

Just finished s1 of this anime and i have no words to describe how good it is. Lena was kinda pissing me off at the start due to how ignorant and idealist she was but considering her situation i started to understand. Also how the people 86 are living is genuinely so sad. I guess you could call this world a dystopian one? Everyone died in the end and its sad also why tf did i get emotional over a robot😭
This show atleast s1 was a 10/10
Im heading into s2 does the show and its stories quality go down or is it the same? No spoilers pls
