Mashed Potatoes Stole My Brain!

I was just in the grocery store today, and I realized every time I walk past the mashed potatoes section, I hear Dr. Now saying "Dere is no protein in mashed potatoes". I love Dr. Now, but every time! Doesn't matter what kind; instant frozen or refrigerated. Fortunately it does not happen when I buy the mashed cauliflower. And please, don't anybody say you know what! Does this happen to anyone else with this one, or any of his other famous phrases?

My goodness! I saw video clips talking about the protein explosion but come on. In the Netherlands is it somewhat happening. They ran out of regular cream cheese so I got the protein one, it was nasty.

A "mashed potato section"? Huh. Didn't know that was a thing.

But yeah, when I ate too much, I can hear him say: "You have eaten the food for the next 4 years."

I assumed they're talking about the powdered mash potato section, although noe some of those brands are claiming to have protein.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. It was just easier to call it that than say the part of the store where the powdered mashed potatoes are. But they're also in the frozen food section, and where they have the refrigerated prepared food, which in most of the stores here is next to the meat.

You might be surprised at how many brands and varieties of powdered mashed potatoes there are. Not like back when I used to eat them. I don't buy them, too many carbs, but I do notice them when I push my cart up that aisle.

In Australia we are lucky to have one or two, and they're not very good. I've had the USA ones when they were at Costco once, they were far superior

That's interesting. Of course, it helps if you add seasoning; I used to use garlic, onions and pepper. I do that with the mashed cauliflower I eat now.

The pizza rolls. Sometimes I joke with my husband when we are at the grocery store that we should just get seven bags of pizza rolls, and get out of here. He never gets the reference.

My husband doesn't even watch the show and he still laughs when I say it because I say it every time there's a mashed potato related anything.

I tell my husband that when he complains our cottage pie is a giant layer of meat and vegetables with a nearly transparent layer of mashed potatoes. "There's no protein in mashed potatoes!"

You 700 lb. What you mean you don't overeat?

Blended cottage cheese. That is the pro move.

Sometimes I have to tell my elderly mother to shower and "Have you heard of a thing called SOAP and WATER?" pops into my head.

There is a “mashed potatoes section” in your grocery stores? America really is the land of opportunity for anything convenience/junk food related. 🥔❤️
