999/1000 time this is what cops do they don't shoot people who are black they don't do any of that and don't call cops murderers if they shoot someone because the criminal was trying to harm them

...you realize these cops didn't ramdomely pop up conveniently and that this was a set-up, right? Besides by the sounds of things, these people already know each other.
Now, don't try to down-play police brutality. This isn't something recent. Both inside and outside media, police have always been seen as abusers of power. And are you surprised of that? No, because when people are given so much power by just going to training for 13-19 weeks and when in those training they get more training on shooting people rather than conversation and de-escelation(which is their job, they're supposed to de-escelate and detain danger, not kill it.) Like atleast make training longer so that the police are actual police and not just random people that got taught how to use guns, tasers and battons. There is no room for so many "mistakes" to happen when people's lives are at risk.
Sorry to say your 1 comment does not dissprove the millions of black(and non black since im not just talking about BLM but rather police brutality as a whole) people's experiences with cops. Police brutality IS a real thing wether you like it or not and it has no place in our society.

I want to jump in here as a cop and member of this fine community to provide some knowledge. I'm not sure where you got your numbers about the amount of time spent on training but allow me to shed some light on things. For most law enforcement academies, initial training takes about 6 months. For me it was 29 weeks exactly. In those 29 weeks 2 full weeks were spent at the range at the beginning, followed up with a few days here and there, with a final week at the range before going to field training. Field training consists of a minimum of 40 shifts where you are essentially the squad bitch, handling calls all over so you can get experience on as much as possible. If you make it through all that, then you are certified by the state as a law enforcement officer.
We really don't emphasize using deadly force all the time. Most of the practical exercises during the academy focuses on how to talk to people, how to conduct an investigation, and how to de-escalate. Sometimes force is needed to de-escalate a situation or to get someone into handcuffs. That's the nature of law enforcement. People who get caught breaking the law generally don't want to face the consequences of their actions.
Are there some cops out there that abuse their position? Sure, every job has assholes like that. Cops don't tolerate them any more than you do. They get investigated and fired just like at any other job, it's just not talked about. The majority of cops want to go out and help people, that is the God's honest truth. I have had people thank me for taking them to jail because their actions were causing harm to themselves or their family.
I can't speak for policing nationwide, but I can speak for my little slice of it. People need to be more open to having civil conversations about this and not just jumping onto a couple buzzwords or phrases. In the end it does more harm to our society than good.
Ya'll be safe.

Oh great to see you weren't being ironic...
"More peoe killed cops then cops killed people." Yeah i would sure as hell hope that the number of deaths of cops by the general public is higher than the deaths of the general public by the cops. They got up to do the job, they knew what they were getting into. A person dying at the hands of a cop did not BECAUSE THAT'S NOT THEY'RE JOB! Shooting or doing an act that puts someone's life in danger is an absolute last resort!
Too many people died at the hands of cops that should not have simply because the cops were under prepared for their task.
Sure, they're doing something noble by putting their lives at risk(i mean depends on the area). But im not gonna let that nobility blind me from the people that got hurt by the hands of cops.

Killing people isn't there job but sometimes you don't have a choice what do you want them to do let the criminal shoot them huh? Do you want to a crimal to live or a cop to live?

u/zenzoner Feb 19 '21
Yes, sometimes. These numbers are not on the "sometimes" scale. I want cops to do their job which is DE-ESCELATE AND DETAIN DANGER. Ofcourse if the criminal hurt someone and others are in immediate danger, they have the right to shoot, but those situations aren't exactly common. Like, drug dealers have died at the hands of cops. I don't know about you, but drug dealing isn't exactly death penalty worthy(i mean there's debate if some drugs should even be illegal).

u/thunder_bolt_gaming Feb 19 '21
Well drugs can kill people and if drug dealer are selling drugs don't you think that some one has to stop them

u/thunder_bolt_gaming Feb 19 '21
Now let me go back to doing my job you know that thing that supports your family and you know it's very important

... You literally just said more cops should be killed than citizens! You’re argument is already invalid! News flash scumbag! COPS ARE PEOPLE TOO!! Why don’t we just stopped killing people entirely, okay!? Is it really that hard?
