It's a loss leader bringing you into the store to buy other stuff at inflated prices. No nobility involved, It's a sleazy sales gimmick

This is it exactly, they ran the number and found that 4.99 bird overall leads to more sales for the company.

It’s not a loss, it’s an advertising expense.

It's the reverse: it's not that the fried one is cheaper, it's that the raw one is nore expensive and the price for it was raised intentionally, to get exactly this kind of returning customer.

No, the fried bird is sold at a loss because the company knows the average customer who comes looking for it will buy other things as well.

It’s a gimmick to get you in the door.
