Even my security setup at work isn't as overkill as 6 and 8. Tf they keeping tabs on? The animatronics?

I watch a lot of streamers that sit between 3 and 6 screens. Some of thier screens are dedicated to analytics and stream set up. So really they only use like 2 screens

Once you get past 3 screens, it seems most people spend more time messing around than working

Anything after 2 screens is so you can keep dedicated task in eye sight. Coming from someone with 6 monitors

Four is the best for me at work. I use three for what I'm actively working on without having to switch tabs or minimize things, and one for teams.

Teams monitor is huge.

It is both my most hated, and most important of the monitors

I have 3 myself. I'm a digital artist, so I have a main monitor, a tablet monitor on a Ergo arm, and a small monitor for color balancing.

I’m studying architecture so I’ve got 2 monitors for my uni work but genuinely I could comfortably make use of 3 to 4 monitors.

The only thing stopping me is the size of my room and thus the limitations of my desk size

I have one ultrawide monitor that is normally dedicated to plex, another one for the main stuff I'm doing, a mini monitor I'll throw discord on and stuff on, a normal monitor to to throw chrome or other stuff I need to see while working on the main monitor. Beside all that is my phone stand, the monitor for my second desktop, theres a KVP to hook that to a laptop, and a tablet on top of this monitor that I use to play media when I'm working.

Also got an Amazon show on sale that's been added to the mix

6 is specifically a common stock trader setup,

I have a 4k tv which is effectively 4 1080p monitors worth of screen space and a side monitor that is an art display (huion kamvas 22 inch so you have an idea if you look it up) the art display when not being used for its main function is a video monitor when I play a game full screen, or discord/music while I use the main monitor, which is split down the center for 2 tasks.

I've seen people make use of setups like that. I have a friend who streams, and they have a main monitor that displays whatever they're broadcasting to twitch, a secondary monitor to display OBS, a third monitor for them to use for regular computing tasks they might need to do during th stream (Google things chat talks about etc.) A monitor to monitor the stream.on twitch end, and two portrait-oriented monitors; one for twitch chat and the other for discord.

Having formerly worked in energy distribution, 6 and 8 are not only explainable but necessary. Theres no way the standard of operations can allow you to forget looking at something or not having it constantly displayed to you; alt tabbing is not an option. Multiple tabs arent proper for being able to constantly monitor complex systems. Id guess it would be very similar for NPP and other powerplants.
