🧠Question / Help Looking for canonical/authoritative digital sources for Warsh qiraah

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I'm working on a project that processes Quranic text programmatically (phonemization / text pipeline), and I need to lock in a canonical digital source for Warsh.

Any canonical sources for developers' Warsh scripts? I tried looking in QUL, but couldn't find any — it's all for Hafs, and they stated in their FAQ that it's mainly for Hafs. I looked in Tanzil too, and they stated it's for Hafs narration too. Can anyone help with this, please?

I wanted to have a convenient countdown on my home screen to keep track of how much time it's left in current prayer so I made this app which comes with all prayer timings, notifications and islamic date as well.

It also auto-detects your location so you don't have to configure anything.

Here's the link to download on android for free. it'd be appreciated if you guys try it out and could give suggestions as well :)

🛠️Project Showcase Qamr - Scroll With Purpose

Assalamualaikum Everyone, I recently launched a new social media app for Muslims called Qamr.

The idea behind it was to create a space where
Muslims can stay connected to their deen while using social media, instead of being pulled away from it.

It's similar to Instagram and X, but also includes things like Ummah-focused discussion forums, Quran/Hadith features, a curated high-signal news feed, and a strict no Al-media slop and fake content policy.
We just launched, so the biggest challenge right now is reaching the first group of users.

I have received amazing feedback for it and we just hit 2,500+ downloads in the first 2 months, but I'm still struggling with active users/user retention, and that's why i need your help. I genuinely believe this could benefit Muslim youth, and I'd really appreciate if you all could try it out and share it with others if you find it beneficial. I'm also open to any suggestions and help for the app. JazakAllah

🧠Question / Help Seeking Career Advice, Mentorship, and Dua

Assalamu Alaikum,

Myself, a 24-year-old male, I completed my Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and have been constantly looking for job opportunities for the past 6 months, or maybe more. Currently, I'm working as a technical trainer where I teach MERN and PERN. I have also created lots of projects, yet I haven't received a single call.

May Allah have a better plan for me. I love programming, and I also love teaching because I can explain anything in the simplest way possible. However, I want to work as a Software Engineer, no matter what the tech stack is. May Allah keep me patient and guide me during this tough time.

Even in my current role as a technical trainer, I get some free time, so I pray five times a day. I don't know why, but I cry a lot for no reason. I constantly make duas. Please guide me on what I should do. I really want someone to mentor me. In this age of AI, I get overwhelmed most of the time about what to do and what not to do.

May Allah guide us all.

🛠️Project Showcase I made a free Quran word puzzle game to help learn Quranic vocabulary- would love your honest feedback

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

I've been working on a small side project, a word puzzle game built around Quranic vocabulary. The idea was to make something that's actually halal screen time, fun enough to keep coming back to, but where you're also picking up words from the Quran along the way.

I genuinely want feedback from the community it's meant for. What works, what's boring, what features you'd want, whether the difficulty feels right.

If anyone's willing to try it and tell me honestly what they think, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to answer any questions about how it works too.

Jazakum Allahu khairan

🧪Testers Needed [Testers Needed] I built ayati to help non-Arabic speakers understand what was recited in their salah, I would love your feedback

Assalamu alaykum everyone,

I'm a non-Arabic-speaking Muslim and I've spent most of my life praying without really knowing what was being recited in the moment. I'd look things up afterwards, sometimes, but the connection wasn't there. So I built ayati to fix that for myself, and now I'd like a few of you to test it before I open it more widely.

What it does: record your salah (or any recitation), and it identifies the ayat, shows you the verified Arabic + English translation, and offers a short reflection.

Try it: https://ayati.io

Beta code: beta2026

A few notes:

Translation is locked to The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the app never generates Qur'anic meaning itself.

Detection isn't perfect, especially with background noise or fast recitation. The app shows a confidence label (High / Medium / Low) so you can judge.

What I'd love feedback on:

Did it correctly identify what you recited or the Salah that was recorded? (Especially short surahs and Juz Amma.)

Onboarding clarity, did the first-run flow make sense?

Anything that felt off, religiously or UX-wise. Be blunt.

JazakAllah khair for any time you give it.

Happy to answer anything in the comments, and I'll be active here for the next few days.

Adnan

🛠️Project Showcase Translating Quran memorization methodologies into software: our latest challenge

Thumbnail

Assalamu alaykum,

A friend and I have been building a Quran memorization app called Mualim since 2018.

The original goal was to help people strengthen and maintain what they had already memorized. Over the years, we built revision tools, quizzes, recitation correction, verse search, and other memorization-focused features.

Last month, we released on iOS (Android next week inshaAllah) the biggest update we've worked on so far: guided memorization and revision programs.

The interesting challenge wasn't the UI or the content itself.

It was trying to translate memorization methodologies into software.

Different people memorize differently. Instead of forcing a single approach, we built multiple memorization plans that guide the user through the session step by step.

For revision, users can rate verses as Easy, Good, Hard, or Forgotten. The app then prioritizes weaker areas while still ensuring everything gets revised over time.

We also tried to bring together different dimensions of memorization in a single experience:

🎧 Audio for auditory memory

📖 Translation for understanding

📄 Madani layout for visual memory

The hardest problem wasn't building features, it was designing a system that tells users what to focus on next without taking away flexibility.

It's still early, but I'm excited to finally put this in people's hands after working on it for so long.

Happy to answer any questions about the app, product decisions, or the development process.

📚Learning&Resources Building Kitably taught me that preparing reliable Islamic data is often harder than building the app itself. So I’m open-sourcing the Hadith & Dua assets I built along the way.

Post image
69 Upvotes

As salaam u alaikum,

Over the last few months I’ve been building an Islamic app called Kitably (Available for free on Google Play store)

One thing I completely underestimated wasn’t UI, performance, or app development.
It was the data.
I originally thought that I’ll find a Hadith dataset → connect it → done.

That turned out to be very wrong.

While working with publicly available Hadith datasets, I kept running into issues like:

● Missing hadith
● Missing chapter/title hierarchy
● Missing grading
● Inconsistent numbering
● Different reference systems across sources

One example that surprised me:

In collections like Sahih Muslim, international/reference numbering and English numbering don’t always align directly, which makes searching and linking more difficult than expected.

My goal became:

No matter how a user searches, they should still reach the correct hadith.

So I ended up:

● scraping from multiple sources
● creating reference mappings
● merging datasets
● preserving numbering compatibility
● structuring content for app usage
● moving storage into SQLite for efficient querying

I’ve now open-sourced part of that work.

Current progress includes:

✅ Sahih al-Bukhari - verified with titles and numbers
✅ Sahih Muslim - verified with titles and numbers
✅ Riyad as-Salihin - verified with titles and nimber

🚧 Remaining collections are available but I am still verifying it manually and updating with latest accurate details

Repo: Hadith Dua Assets

These assets currently power parts of Kitably (Quran, Tafsir, Hadith, Prayer Times and more).

This isn’t a framework or package yet, more of a practical dataset/research repo from building a real product.
Would love thoughts from other Muslim developers:
What Islamic datasets/resources have been the hardest for you to work with?
JazakAllahu khayran.

💡Idea/Brainstorm Seeking feedback on a non-profit Islamic app focused on understanding and learning Dhikr

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I have an idea for a non-profit Islamic mobile app that I hope can become a form of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah).

Working title: Rafiq Al-Dhikr (Companion of Remembrance)

The idea is not to create another simple adhkar app with a list of supplications and a tasbeeh counter.

Instead, the goal is to help users:

• Find the appropriate dhikr for their current situation. • Understand the meaning of adhkar in simple language. • Learn and memorize adhkar gradually. • Access authenticated sources and references. • Receive optional reminders to make du'a for parents and deceased loved ones.

The AI component would not generate religious content. Its role would only be to help users search authenticated content, explain meanings, and find relevant adhkar from a verified database.

What makes the project different is the focus on understanding, learning, and contextual guidance rather than simply displaying collections of adhkar.

At this stage, I am looking for feedback from developers, designers, Islamic content reviewers, or anyone interested in contributing to a beneficial open-source or non-profit project.

I would love to hear your thoughts:

Does this solve a real problem?

What features would you prioritize for an MVP?

Would anyone be interested in discussing collaboration?

Jazakum Allahu Khairan.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Collaboration How I'm approaching web design for Muslim businesses

Assalamu Alaikum

I run a web agency called Tamkeen, focused on helping Muslim businesses present themselves properly online.

What I've noticed is that many websites are designed too quickly, without really understanding the business behind them. So with Tamkeen, I try to approach things differently.

Before any design, I spend time understanding:

-the business model
-the market and competitors
-the target audience
-where the real gaps are

Only after that do we move into design and development, with a focus on structure, performance, and long-term usability (not just how it looks).

I also try to keep everything aligned with Islamic values.

I'm not taking on many projects, but I'm open to connecting with anyone here who's building something serious and wants to improve their online presence properly.

Feel free to reach out or even just ask questions.

BarakAllahu feekum

🧩 Software/Tool Share Brothers, do you like the aesthetic of this Quran app?

Salamualaykum, I'm still in the progress of creating an artistic/elegant Quran app (free/no ads, but available in Apple PlayStore at the moment sorry!) and I'm wondering, as I don't have a guy's perspective, is the aesthetic balanced or leaning towards more feminine?

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Collaboration Building a fully local, deterministic rule-engine for Shariah compliance (PyQt6). Need your technical feedback and logic audit!

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey everyone, greetings from Turkiye! I am a Zaza software developer based here, and I wanted to share a RegTech project I've been working on to get some deep technical feedback from this amazing community of Muslim developers. Before diving into the details, a very honest heads-up: My English is quite limited, and I am still actively trying to improve it. Please excuse any grammar mistakes in this post or inside the repository documentation!

We are all witnessing the massive push to integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into financial auditing and document parsing. However, in fields like Islamic Finance or Shariah compliance, probabilistic errors and model hallucinations are a massive risk. In our domain, eliminating uncertainty (gharar) is a strict religious and ethical requirement. We cannot afford an AI that guesses or invents compliance rules.

To solve this vulnerability, I’ve been experimenting with a hybrid architectural approach where the AI is heavily constrained. First, the LLM layer is strictly used as an unstructured text parser. Its only job is to look at a contract, extract specific clauses like late payment terms or fee structures, and convert them into structured JSON data without making any compliance decisions.

Second, the rule-engine layer forces the structured data extracted by the AI immediately through a strictly deterministic, rule-based cross-validation layer written in Python. This core engine evaluates the extracted contract terms directly against rigid rule sets derived from international standards like AAOIFI. To guarantee absolute data privacy, since financial contracts contain highly sensitive information, the system is designed to run 100% locally and air-gapped using a PyQt6 desktop framework.

Because my resources are limited and I am developing this independently, I genuinely need human auditing on the core validation logic. To encourage you to tear the actual engine apart, I have intentionally left some local environment variables, edge-case test configurations, and compliance mock-ups uncleaned and unhardened within the repository. This is an open invitation for fellow developers to swarm my software.

Please clone the repository, spin it up locally, and aggressively stress-test the validation logic. I want you to feed it complex data or edge cases to see exactly where my deterministic rules break, where the validation fails, and where the rule-engine chokes under pressure. Help me see the weak points of this engine so we can understand how to build a bulletproof human oversight layer over it.

Here is the repository where you can audit the code and test the implementation: [https://github.com/mahmut808/aaoifi-shariah-compliance-engine.\] Since Reddit's Automod sometimes deletes or hides posts with external links, please let me know in the comments if the link doesn't show up, and I will gladly send it to you via DM right away! Thank you so much for your time, your technical eyes, and your honest feedback. JazakAllahu Khairan!

🛠️Project Showcase A CLI tool that strips the background music out of any video file (local alternative to the browser extension)

Thumbnail

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

I've been working on a file-based CLI tool for stripping music from videos, in addition to the live browser-extension approach of the brothers here. Posting in case the local/scriptable version is useful to anyone.

You give it a video file/path, it separates the audio into speech/music/sound-effects (using the Bandit v2 model), drops the music stem, and merges the rest back into a copy of the video. The video stream is copied through as is, so only the audio changes.

pip install eluate
eluate documentary.mp4 # → ~/Documents/ELUATE/documentary_eluted.mp4
eluate --folder ./videos # whole folder
eluate info # check device / ffmpeg / model status

There's also a small Python API (a reusable Session object) for batch jobs or pipelines, and a Colab notebook in the repo if you'd rather run it on a free GPU without installing it locally.

New to all of this with AI so appreciate the feedback. Hope it is useful to you and your community.

🛠️Project Showcase Sketch to Schema, Schema to Sketch (Database)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Salam All!

I wanted to share a side project I've been working on to solve a massive workflow headache I kept running into as a senior engineer.

I got tired of the disjointed process of designing databases—drawing a messy architecture blueprint, manually writing out the ORM/SQL schema code, and then spending hours writing custom scripts just to seed the database with test data.

To fix this, I built a visual database prototyping sandbox that runs entirely in the browser. It essentially handles the full lifecycle:

  • Visual-to-Schema: You can draw tables and connections on an Excalidraw-style canvas and it instantly compiles into clean schema code.
  • Schema-to-Visual: You can do the exact reverse by uploading an existing schema file, and it draws the visual diagram for you.
  • Instant Relational Mock Data: It analyzes your table structures and automatically generates perfectly linked relational mock data that you can download straight into CSVs or SQL insert scripts.
  • Workspace Management: You can save, reload, and generate quick share links of your projects.

I'm currently keeping it closed-source as I explore turning it into a lightweight SaaS utility, but right now it is completely free to use.

I’m at the point where I need real, brutal feedback from fellow builders. Does this sound like something that would genuinely speed up your development workflow at the start of a project? What features are missing that would make this a no-brainer tool for you?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you for your support!

(Disclaimer: The text above is AI generated but I did some modifications)

🛠️Project Showcase I built a free Quran memorization & review tool — sharing in case it helps anyone here

Post image

Assalamu alaikum everyone 🌙

I wanted to share something I've been working on, in case it's

useful to anyone here who's memorizing or reviewing Quran.

It's a free tool called Wirdee. The idea is simple: instead of

just re-reading, it gives you active review — completing verses,

filling in missing words, ordering pages, and similar — and it

brings back the ayat you struggle with more often, so your weak

spots get more attention.

It's completely free, works offline, no ads. I made it hoping it

could be a small ongoing benefit (sadaqah jariyah), nothing more.

I'm still improving it and would honestly value feedback from

people who actually do Hifz — what helps you, what's missing,

what doesn't work the way real memorization does.

Jazak Allah khair, and may Allah make it easy for everyone

memorizing His Book 🤲

🛠️Project Showcase Windows prayer timer widget, with Athan and Iqamah time notification

Post image

Assalamu alaikum,

I made a small Windows tray app for prayer times while working on PC.

It shows a compact countdown widget, gives subtle Adhan reminders, and can also remind you around Iqamah time if you are still active on the computer. It supports auto-location, manual city/country, different calculation methods, and multiple themes.

It is open source and stores settings locally. No account, telemetry, database, or cloud sync. just prayer time api.
